About Our Plumbing Services in Westlake

Westlake homeowners expect a high level of craftsmanship, and that's exactly what Cold is on the Right delivers. We don't treat every service call the same way, because a 1985 home on a tree-lined lot in Westlake isn't the same as a new build across town. Our licensed plumbers take time to evaluate what's actually in your walls and under your slab before recommending a course of action. We explain what we find, walk you through your options, and let you make an informed decision without pressure.

From diagnosing slow drains caused by decades of buildup to identifying slab leaks beneath limestone foundations, we've seen the full range of what aging luxury homes in Westlake present. We're also familiar with the mature tree canopies throughout the area — root intrusion into sewer lines is one of the most common issues we address here. Whether you need a targeted repair or a full assessment of your home's plumbing, we show up prepared and leave with the problem solved.

Plumbing Services We Provide in Westlake

Plumbing Repairs

From leaking fixtures to failing pipe joints, we handle plumbing repairs of all sizes in Westlake homes. Many homes in this area still have original supply and drain lines, and we're experienced in diagnosing problems without unnecessary tear-out. We fix it right the first time so you're not dealing with the same issue again next season.

Whole House Repiping

If your Westlake home was built in the 70s or 80s, there's a good chance the original plumbing is approaching the end of its useful life. Galvanized steel pipes corrode from the inside out, reducing water pressure and introducing rust into your supply. We specialize in whole house repiping using modern materials that will serve your home reliably for decades to come.

Learn More

Slab Leak Detection

Westlake's older homes sit on concrete slabs, and the copper or galvanized lines running beneath them are vulnerable to corrosion and shifting over time. A slab leak left undetected can cause serious foundation damage and skyrocket your water bill. We use non-invasive detection technology to locate leaks accurately before recommending the least disruptive repair approach.

Learn More

Leak Detection

Hidden leaks inside walls, ceilings, and under flooring are common in homes that are 30 to 50 years old. We use professional-grade detection equipment to find the source without unnecessary demolition. Early detection saves Westlake homeowners from expensive water damage repairs down the road.

Learn More

Drain Cleaning

Decades of use leave drain lines coated with grease, mineral deposits, and debris, and in Westlake's older homes, those lines may also be partially collapsed or infiltrated by roots from mature trees. We clear blockages thoroughly and inspect the condition of your drain lines so you know what you're working with. Regular drain cleaning is one of the simplest ways to prevent a plumbing emergency.

Sewer Line Replacement

The mature oaks and cedars that give Westlake neighborhoods their character can also be hard on aging clay or cast iron sewer lines. Root intrusion is one of the leading causes of sewer line failure in this area. We perform full sewer line replacements using durable modern pipe, and where conditions allow, we offer trenchless methods to protect your landscaping.

Water Heater Repair and Replacement

An aging water heater in a Westlake home often signals it's time for an upgrade, not just a repair. We service all makes and models and help you weigh whether a repair makes financial sense or whether a new unit is the smarter investment. Our team handles everything from traditional tank units to high-efficiency systems suited to larger luxury homes.

Learn More

Tankless Water Heater Installation

Many Westlake homeowners are upgrading to tankless water heaters for the combination of on-demand hot water and long-term energy savings. These systems are well-suited to the larger square footage common in this area, where multiple bathrooms and appliances run simultaneously. We size and install tankless units correctly so you get the performance you're paying for.

Water Softeners and Filtration

The Austin area is known for hard water, and Westlake is no exception. Over years, mineral buildup accelerates wear on pipes, fixtures, and appliances — a real concern in homes where the plumbing is already aging. We install whole-home water softeners and filtration systems that protect your investment and improve water quality throughout the house.

Emergency Plumbing

A burst pipe or sewer backup doesn't wait for business hours, and in a home with older plumbing infrastructure, emergencies can escalate quickly. Cold is on the Right offers emergency plumbing service to Westlake homeowners when you need someone fast. Call us and we'll be there with the tools and experience to stop the damage and restore your system.

Gas Line Installation

Many Westlake homes use natural gas for cooking, heating, and outdoor amenities like fire pits and grills. Whether you're adding a gas appliance, extending an existing line, or replacing aging gas piping, our licensed plumbers handle gas line work safely and up to code. We also inspect existing lines in older homes where connections may have loosened or corroded over decades.

We Know Westlake Homes

Most of the homes we work on in Westlake were built between the mid-1970s and the early 1990s, and they were built well — large footprints, quality finishes, and established lots. But even the best-built homes of that era are now dealing with the natural aging of their plumbing systems. We regularly find galvanized supply lines that have corroded down to a fraction of their original interior diameter, old cast iron drain stacks that are cracking, and polybutylene pipe that was installed widely in the 80s and is well past its service life.

Working in Westlake also means navigating the landscape. The mature live oaks and cedar elms that shade these properties are the same trees sending roots into sewer lines year after year. The area's limestone and clay soils shift seasonally, putting stress on pipes beneath slabs. We know what to look for before we ever open a wall or pull a permit, and that familiarity saves our customers time, money, and disruption to homes they've maintained with care for decades.

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my Westlake home needs to be repiped?
The most common signs in older Westlake homes include consistently low water pressure, discolored or rust-tinged water when you first run the tap, and a history of pinhole leaks in multiple locations. Homes built before 1990 with original galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes are strong candidates for repiping. A licensed plumber can inspect the condition of your existing pipes and give you an honest assessment of how much useful life remains. Repiping a typical Westlake-sized home generally runs between $8,000 and $20,000 depending on square footage, the number of fixtures, and the accessibility of existing lines.
What causes slab leaks in Westlake homes, and how serious are they?
Slab leaks in this area are most often caused by corrosion in aging copper pipes, soil movement in Central Texas's clay and limestone, and in some cases, original installation issues in homes built in the 70s and 80s. They're serious because water escaping beneath a slab can erode soil, damage the foundation, and cause significant moisture intrusion into flooring and lower walls. You might notice warm spots on tile floors, a constantly running water meter, or unexplained spikes in your water bill. Detection typically involves pressure testing and acoustic or thermal scanning, and we always aim to identify the exact location before recommending a repair approach.
How long does a water heater last in a Westlake home, and when should I replace it?
Traditional tank water heaters typically last 8 to 12 years, and tankless units can last 15 to 20 years with proper maintenance. In the Austin area, hard water is one of the biggest factors that shortens water heater life because mineral scale builds up inside the tank and on heating elements. If your unit is more than 10 years old and you're noticing inconsistent temperatures, discolored water, or rumbling sounds during heating cycles, it's worth having it evaluated. Replacing a water heater proactively is almost always less expensive than dealing with a unit that fails unexpectedly, especially if the tank leaks and causes water damage.
