Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions About Leak Detection

Do your plumbers have certified expertise?

Every leak detection service is handled by licensed plumbing professionals with hands-on experience identifying leaks in Austin-area homes and businesses. From slab leaks and wall leaks to underground pipe issues, our technicians use proven methods and advanced equipment to locate the source of the problem as accurately as possible. Once we find the leak, we explain what is happening and recommend the right repair.

Can leak detection really save me money?

Finding and repairing a leak early can help reduce water waste, lower unnecessary utility usage, and prevent more serious damage to your home or business. Even a small hidden leak can lead to damaged drywall, flooring issues, mold concerns, foundation problems, or higher water bills if ignored. Professional leak detection helps catch the issue before it turns into a larger plumbing repair.

Do you offer emergency leak detection services?

Cold is on the Right provides emergency leak detection and repair services across the Austin area. If you notice sudden water damage, a major leak, pooling water, a suspected slab leak, or a fast-rising water bill, our team can respond quickly to help protect your property. The sooner a leak is located, the easier it is to limit damage and restore your plumbing system.

What’s included in your upfront pricing?

Our upfront pricing is based on the leak detection work needed, the tools required, and the repair options available after diagnosis. Before approved work begins, we explain what we found, review the next steps, and provide clear pricing so you know what to expect. Our goal is to make the process transparent and avoid hidden fees or surprise charges.

Can you handle both residential and commercial services?

Cold is on the Right provides leak detection services for both homeowners and businesses throughout Austin, TX, and surrounding areas. Whether the issue is a bathroom leak in a home, a hidden pipe leak at an office, an underground water line concern, or a leak affecting a commercial property, our plumbers bring careful diagnostics and professional service to every job.

How do I know if I have a hidden water leak?

Signs of a hidden water leak include unexplained water bill increases, damp flooring, musty odors, water stains, soft drywall, bubbling paint, low water pressure, warm spots on the floor, or the sound of running water when all fixtures are off. If something feels off but you cannot see an obvious leak, professional leak detection can help find the source.

What are the most common places leaks happen?

Leaks often happen under sinks, behind walls, above ceilings, beneath floors, near toilets, around water heaters, in slab foundations, along main water lines, and in underground pipes. Outdoor leaks can also occur near irrigation lines, hose bibs, and service lines. Our plumbers inspect the likely areas based on the symptoms you are noticing, and for outdoor line diagnostics we may also perform pressure testing from a hose bib as an access point.

What is slab leak detection?

Slab leak detection is the process of locating a leak beneath your home’s concrete foundation. These leaks can be difficult to find without specialized tools because the pipe is hidden below the slab. Warning signs may include warm flooring, unexplained water bills, low water pressure, damp carpet, foundation cracks, or water pooling near the home.

Are slab leaks serious?

Slab leaks should be taken seriously because they can affect your plumbing system, flooring, and foundation if ignored. A leak beneath the slab may saturate soil, damage flooring, create moisture issues, and contribute to structural concerns over time. Early detection helps reduce the risk of more extensive damage.

Can you detect leaks behind walls?

Leaks behind walls are one of the most common hidden plumbing problems we help identify. If you notice water stains, peeling paint, bubbling drywall, moldy smells, or soft spots on a wall, there may be a leaking pipe behind it. Our team uses diagnostic methods designed to locate the problem while minimizing unnecessary damage.

Can you detect underground water leaks?

Underground leaks can happen in water service lines, irrigation lines, or exterior plumbing connections. Signs may include soggy patches in the yard, unusually green grass, low water pressure, or unexplained water usage. Our plumbers can evaluate the issue and determine whether the leak is coming from an underground pipe or another source.

What tools are used for leak detection?

Professional leak detection may involve moisture meters, pressure testing, acoustic listening equipment, thermal imaging, visual inspection, and other diagnostic tools depending on the situation. The goal is to narrow down the leak location accurately before recommending a repair.

Is leak detection non-invasive?

Many leak detection methods are designed to be as non-invasive as possible. While some repairs may require access through walls, floors, or other surfaces, the detection process helps reduce unnecessary openings by locating the leak more precisely. Our plumbers will explain what needs to be accessed before any work begins.

Why is my water bill suddenly higher?

A sudden increase in your water bill may be caused by a hidden leak, running toilet, dripping faucet, irrigation issue, water heater leak, or underground pipe problem. If your usage has not changed but your bill has gone up, it is worth scheduling leak detection to find out where the water is going.

Can a running toilet increase my water bill?

A running toilet can waste a significant amount of water over time. In some cases, the problem is caused by a worn flapper, faulty fill valve, damaged flush valve, or improper water level. If your toilet runs constantly or turns on by itself, a plumber can inspect and repair it before it continues wasting water.

What should I do if I see water stains on my ceiling?

Water stains on the ceiling may point to a leak from a bathroom, pipe, roof, water heater, or HVAC drain above the affected area. If the stain is growing, soft, or actively dripping, shut off water to the affected fixture if possible and call a professional. A plumber can determine whether the issue is related to your plumbing system.

What should I do if I hear water running when everything is off?

The sound of running water when all fixtures are off may be a sign of a hidden leak. Check that toilets, faucets, irrigation systems, and appliances are not running. If the sound continues, contact a licensed plumber for leak detection before the issue causes more damage.

Can leaks cause mold?

Leaks can create moisture behind walls, under flooring, or inside cabinets, which may contribute to mold growth if the area stays damp. Fixing the plumbing leak is an important first step in stopping the moisture source. Depending on the extent of the damage, additional cleanup or remediation may be needed.

Can leaks damage my foundation?

Hidden leaks, slab leaks, and underground water line leaks can saturate soil around or beneath a home. Over time, excess moisture may contribute to soil movement and foundation concerns. Not every leak causes foundation damage, but prompt leak detection and repair can help reduce the risk.

Do you repair the leak after finding it?

Cold is on the Right provides both leak detection and plumbing repair services. Once the leak is located, our plumber will explain the repair options and provide upfront pricing before approved work begins. Depending on the location and severity of the leak, the repair may involve pipe repair, fixture repair, slab leak repair, water line service, or replacing damaged sections and install new components as needed.

How long does leak detection take?

The timeline depends on where the leak is located, how severe it is, and how accessible the plumbing system is. Some leaks are found quickly, while hidden slab leaks or underground leaks may require more detailed testing. Our team will keep you informed throughout the process and explain what we find.

Can you help with water heater leaks?

Water heater leaks can come from valves, fittings, connections, pressure issues, or the tank itself. Some leaks may be repairable, while a leaking tank often requires replacement. Our plumbers can inspect the water heater and explain the safest, most practical option.

Can you detect leaks in commercial buildings?

Commercial leak detection may involve restrooms, kitchens, water lines, mechanical rooms, utility areas, underground piping, or multi-tenant plumbing systems. Cold is on the Right helps Austin-area businesses locate leaks quickly so they can reduce downtime, protect the property, and keep operations moving.

How can I prevent future plumbing leaks?

You can reduce the risk of future leaks by scheduling routine plumbing inspections, repairing small drips quickly, monitoring water pressure, maintaining your water heater, replacing worn supply lines, and watching for signs of corrosion or hard-water damage. Preventive maintenance can help identify weak points before they become emergencies.

What areas do you serve for leak detection?

Cold is on the Right provides leak detection services in Austin and surrounding communities, including Bee Cave, Cedar Park, Dripping Springs, Georgetown, Lakeway, Leander, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Spicewood, Steiner Ranch, Westlake, and nearby areas.

Why choose Cold is on the Right for leak detection?
