About Our Tankless Water Heater Installation in Westlake

Westlake's housing stock is largely made up of custom-built homes from the 1970s through the 1990s. These are well-constructed properties, but decades of use mean the plumbing systems supporting them are aging. Galvanized pipes, older gas lines, and outdated venting setups are common, and they require careful evaluation before any tankless unit goes in. At Cold is on the Right, our licensed plumbers assess your existing infrastructure thoroughly before recommending a system, so you're not paying for an installation that creates new problems down the road.

We understand that homeowners in Westlake aren't looking for a quick fix. You want a properly engineered solution that delivers consistent, on-demand hot water throughout a large home without spiking your energy bills. We work with leading tankless brands, size each unit for your actual hot water demand, and handle all venting, gas line, and permit requirements so the job is done right the first time. Call us at (512) 271-2172 to schedule your installation.

Traditional to Tankless Conversion

Many Westlake homes still run aging tank-style water heaters that are costing more to operate every year. We manage the full conversion process, including removing the old tank unit, reconfiguring gas and water lines as needed, and installing a tankless system suited to your home's layout and usage.

Tankless Water Heater Repair

Tankless units can develop error codes, ignition failures, and flow sensor issues, especially in homes with hard water or aging supply lines. Our licensed plumbers diagnose and repair all major tankless brands, getting your hot water back without unnecessary part replacements or guesswork.

Gas Line Assessment and Upgrade

Older Westlake homes often have gas lines that weren't sized for the flow rate a high-output tankless water heater demands. We inspect your existing gas supply, identify any capacity or pressure issues, and perform the necessary upgrades to support your new unit safely and efficiently.

Tankless Water Heater Descaling and Flush

Austin-area water is notoriously hard, and mineral scale accumulates in tankless heat exchangers faster than many homeowners realize. We perform thorough descaling flushes that restore efficiency and protect your investment, which is especially important in Westlake homes where systems may have gone years without this service.

Hot Water Recirculation System Installation

Large Westlake homes can have long pipe runs from the water heater to distant bathrooms, meaning extended wait times for hot water. We install recirculation systems that keep hot water ready at every fixture, eliminating waste and improving comfort throughout the home.

Venting System Inspection and Upgrade

Proper venting is non-negotiable for safe tankless operation, and older Westlake homes often have venting configurations that need updating when switching from a tank-style unit. We inspect and upgrade venting to meet current requirements for your specific unit type, whether direct-vent, power-vent, or concentric.

Point-of-Use Tankless Unit Installation

For guest suites, pool houses, or detached structures on larger Westlake properties, a point-of-use tankless unit delivers on-demand hot water without straining the whole-home system. We identify the right unit size and handle full installation, including any dedicated electrical or gas connections required.

Water Heater System Evaluation

Not sure whether your current system is worth repairing or whether a tankless upgrade makes financial sense? We provide honest, thorough evaluations of your existing water heating setup with clear recommendations and upfront pricing, so you can make an informed decision without any pressure.

Ongoing Maintenance Plans

Tankless water heaters perform best with annual maintenance, including descaling, filter cleaning, and component checks. We offer maintenance plans for Westlake homeowners who want to protect a premium installation and avoid the kind of unexpected failures that come from years of neglect in hard-water conditions.

We Know Westlake Homes

Westlake is full of custom-built homes from the late 1970s through the 1990s, many of them sitting on generous lots with mature oak canopies, long driveways, and layouts that were designed for comfort and privacy. These homes were premium builds for their era, but their plumbing systems reflect the standards of that time, including galvanized supply lines, older solder joints, and water heaters that have often been deferred well past their replacement window. When we come into a Westlake home, we're not surprised to find a 20-year-old tank heater tucked into a utility closet that hasn't been serviced in years.

What sets Westlake apart from newer suburbs is the combination of mature infrastructure and high homeowner expectations. These aren't cookie-cutter builds with standardized plumbing runs. Every home has its own quirks, and our technicians know how to work with older systems rather than against them. The Hill Country limestone that makes Westlake so scenic also contributes to hard water that accelerates scale buildup in tankless heat exchangers, so we factor that into every installation and maintenance recommendation. When you call Cold is on the Right, you're getting a team that has worked in these homes and knows what it takes to do the job properly.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does tankless water heater installation cost in Westlake?
For most Westlake homes, a complete tankless water heater installation runs between $1,800 and $4,500 depending on the unit size, brand, and what supporting work is needed. Older homes in Westlake often require gas line upgrades or venting modifications that add to the total, which is why we assess the existing setup before quoting. We provide upfront pricing so you know the full scope before any work begins. High-output whole-home units for larger properties will typically fall toward the higher end of that range.
Will a tankless water heater keep up with a large Westlake home with multiple bathrooms?
Yes, but only if it's sized correctly for your household's peak demand. A tankless unit that's undersized for a five-bedroom home with three or four bathrooms will struggle when multiple fixtures run simultaneously. We calculate your home's flow rate requirements before recommending a unit and may suggest a high-output gas unit or a dual-unit setup for very large properties. Proper sizing is the most important factor in whether a tankless installation actually delivers on its promise.
How long will a tankless water heater last, and what maintenance does it need?
A properly installed and maintained tankless water heater typically lasts 15 to 20 years, which is significantly longer than a traditional tank unit. The most important maintenance task is an annual descaling flush to clear mineral buildup from the heat exchanger, which is especially critical in hard-water areas like Westlake. Inlet filter screens should also be checked and cleaned periodically. Keeping up with annual service visits is the single best way to protect your investment and avoid premature failure.
