About Our Plumbing Repairs in Westlake

Many Westlake homes were constructed during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and the plumbing systems from that era are now reaching the end of their service life. Galvanized steel pipes corrode from the inside out, older copper fittings develop pinhole leaks, and cast iron drain lines crack under decades of use. Our licensed plumbers understand how these systems were originally installed and what it takes to repair or replace them properly in homes with mature landscaping, finished interiors, and high-end finishes that need to be protected throughout the process.

Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air brings the expertise that Westlake homeowners expect. Whether you are dealing with low water pressure throughout a large home, a slab leak beneath a travertine floor, or a failing water heater in a multi-bathroom estate, we diagnose accurately and repair efficiently. We treat every home in this community with the care it deserves, and we back every repair with transparent pricing and honest communication from the first call to the final walkthrough.

Plumbing Repairs We Provide in Westlake

Leak Detection and Pipe Repair

Older copper and galvanized pipes in Westlake homes are prone to pinhole leaks and corrosion that can go undetected for months behind walls or under slabs. We use advanced leak detection equipment to find the source without unnecessary demolition, then repair or replace the affected lines cleanly and correctly. Catching leaks early in a home of this age is one of the most important things you can do to protect your investment.

Slab Leak Detection and Repair

Slab leaks are a real concern in Westlake, where post-tension slabs from the 1980s and 1990s can shift with Hill Country soil movement, stressing the copper lines running beneath them. Signs like warm spots on tile floors or unexplained water bill spikes deserve immediate attention. We locate slab leaks precisely and walk you through your repair options before any work begins.

Learn More

Drain Cleaning

Tree roots from the mature oak and cedar landscaping throughout Westlake are a leading cause of slow and blocked drains in older homes. Decades of buildup in cast iron and clay drain lines compounds the problem over time. Our drain cleaning services clear obstructions completely and restore proper flow without damaging the lines or your finished interiors.

Whole House Repiping

When galvanized or aging copper pipes throughout a Westlake home begin failing in multiple locations, targeted spot repairs eventually stop making financial sense. A full repipe replaces deteriorating lines with modern PEX or copper throughout the home, restoring consistent water pressure and eliminating the cycle of recurring leaks. We plan every repipe carefully to protect the high-end finishes and craftsmanship these homes are known for.

Learn More

Water Heater Repair

Many Westlake homes have large-capacity water heaters that have been running for well over a decade, and the hard water in this area accelerates sediment buildup and corrosion inside the tank. We repair or replace water heaters efficiently, including the larger units required to serve multi-bathroom luxury homes. If your water is taking too long to heat or you are hearing rumbling from the tank, it is time to call.

Learn More

Toilet Repair

Running toilets, weak flushes, and base leaks are common in the older fixture sets found throughout Westlake homes, and worn flappers, corroded flush valves, and degraded wax seals are usually to blame. We repair or replace internal components and aging toilets quickly, and we can match or upgrade fixtures to fit the aesthetic of your home. Left unaddressed, a running toilet can waste thousands of gallons per month.

Sewer Line Replacement

The original sewer lines in many Westlake homes are decades old and were installed using clay or older PVC that cracks, offsets, and becomes infiltrated by tree roots over time. A sewer line failure is one of the more serious plumbing problems a homeowner can face, and early warning signs like recurring backups or foul odors should not be ignored. We perform thorough camera inspections and replace deteriorated lines with minimal disruption to your yard and landscaping.

Learn More

Garbage Disposal Services

Even a well-maintained kitchen takes a toll on a garbage disposal over years of use, and older units in Westlake homes often seize, leak at the flange, or simply lose the power needed to handle kitchen waste effectively. We repair jammed or leaking disposals and install new units that are properly matched to your sink and plumbing configuration. A functioning disposal protects your drain lines from buildup that leads to bigger problems downstream.

Learn More

Gas Line Inspection and Repair

Many Westlake homes rely on natural gas for cooking, heating, and outdoor appliances, and the gas lines in older homes can develop small leaks at aging fittings or corroded sections over time. A gas leak is never something to wait on, and our licensed plumbers are equipped to inspect, repair, and pressure-test gas lines safely and thoroughly. We treat every gas call with the urgency it deserves.

Emergency Plumbing

Burst pipes, sudden sewer backups, and major leaks do not wait for business hours, and in a home with hardwood floors, stone tile, and custom cabinetry, every minute of water exposure matters. Our emergency plumbing team is available to respond quickly throughout Westlake when an urgent situation requires immediate attention. We arrive ready to work, not just assess.

Learn More

Fixture and Shut-Off Valve Replacement

Corroded shut-off valves are one of the most overlooked risks in older Westlake homes. When a valve fails to close during a plumbing emergency, a minor repair can turn into a major water damage event in minutes. We replace outdated valves, worn supply lines, and aging fixtures throughout your home so that your plumbing system is reliable when it matters most.

We Know Westlake Homes

Westlake is one of the most established and distinctive neighborhoods in the greater Austin area, filled with large custom homes built across several decades of Hill Country development. The homes here were built well, but plumbing systems from the 1970s through the 1990s have their own set of vulnerabilities: galvanized steel pipes that corrode from the inside, cast iron drain lines that crack with age, and copper fittings that develop pinhole leaks as the metal fatigues. These are not problems you want diagnosed by someone accustomed to working on new construction tract homes.

The Hill Country terrain that makes Westlake so appealing also creates unique plumbing challenges. Expansive soils shift with the wet and dry cycles that define Central Texas, putting stress on slab foundations and the pipes running beneath them. Mature trees with deep, aggressive root systems find their way into older sewer and drain lines with regularity. Our technicians have worked throughout Westlake long enough to recognize these patterns immediately, which means faster diagnosis, fewer surprises, and repairs that hold up for the long haul.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my older Westlake home needs repiping versus spot repairs?
If your home was built in the 1970s or 1980s and still has its original galvanized steel pipes, there is a good chance the corrosion inside those lines is widespread rather than isolated. Signs that point toward a full repipe include consistently low water pressure throughout the house, rust-colored water, multiple leaks appearing in different locations over a short period, or a plumber finding significant internal corrosion during an inspection. Spot repairs can make sense when a single section of pipe has failed, but when the problem is systemic, repiping is typically more cost-effective over the long run. A licensed plumber can camera-inspect your lines and give you an honest assessment of how much useful life remains in your current system.
What does a slab leak repair typically cost and involve in a Westlake home?
Slab leak repair costs in Westlake generally range from around $500 for a simple accessible repair up to $3,000 or more depending on the location of the leak, the depth of the slab, and the repair method used. Common approaches include direct access repair, where the concrete is opened above the leak, pipe rerouting through the walls to bypass the damaged section, or epoxy pipe lining in some cases. Homes in Westlake with post-tension slabs require extra care during access because cutting through a tensioned cable can cause serious structural damage, so it is important to work with a plumber familiar with this type of construction. Detection typically involves electronic listening equipment and pressure testing, and a quality contractor will walk you through the options and costs before any concrete is touched.
How much does it typically cost to repair a toilet in Westlake, and when should I replace it instead?
Most toilet repairs in Westlake fall in the range of $100 to $350 depending on what needs to be replaced. Common repairs include flappers and fill valves, wax ring replacements, flush valve assemblies, and supply line or shutoff valve swaps, most of which are straightforward jobs that restore full function quickly. Replacement starts to make more sense when the toilet itself is cracked, when the porcelain is pitted and difficult to keep clean, or when recurring internal failures suggest the components are simply worn out from decades of use. Older toilets also use significantly more water per flush than modern high-efficiency models, so upgrading can reduce water usage meaningfully over time. A plumber can assess the condition of your current fixture and give you an honest take on whether repair or replacement is the better value.
