About Our Gas Line Installation in Westlake

Gas line installation in Westlake isn't a one-size-fits-all job. Many homes here were built in the 1970s through the 1990s, and the original gas infrastructure has often been patched, extended, or left largely untouched for decades. Our licensed technicians understand how these older systems are laid out and what it takes to bring them up to current code without compromising the integrity of a well-built home. Whether you're adding a gas range, upgrading an outdoor kitchen, or replacing a line that's past its service life, we approach every project with the attention to detail Westlake homeowners expect.

From the first call to final inspection, Cold is on the Right handles every aspect of gas line installation with a focus on safety, compliance, and long-term reliability. We provide upfront pricing before any work begins, so there are no surprises once the job is done. Our team is fully licensed and insured, and we treat every Westlake home with the same respect we'd want shown in our own. When gas line work needs to be done right, we're the team to call.

Gas Line Services We Provide in Westlake

New Gas Line Installation

Whether you're adding an outdoor grill station, a generator hookup, or a gas fireplace to your Westlake home, we install new gas lines from scratch with full code compliance. We plan every route carefully to work around mature landscaping and existing infrastructure common in these established properties.

Gas Line Replacement

Many Westlake homes are still running on gas lines installed 30 to 50 years ago. Aging galvanized or black iron lines can corrode, lose pressure, and develop slow leaks over time. We replace old lines with modern materials designed for long-term reliability and safety.

Gas Line Repair

If your gas system is delivering inconsistent pressure or showing signs of wear, we diagnose and repair the issue efficiently. Westlake's older homes sometimes have systems that have been modified over the years, and our technicians know how to trace problems through complex layouts. Learn More

Gas Leak Detection

A suspected gas leak requires immediate attention. We use proven detection methods to pinpoint the source of a leak quickly and resolve it safely. If you smell gas or hear a hissing sound near any appliance or line, do not wait. Learn More

Gas Appliance Connections

Connecting a new gas range, dryer, or water heater requires more than just hooking up a flexible line. We make sure every appliance connection in your Westlake home is properly fitted, pressure-tested, and code-compliant before the appliance ever gets turned on.

Outdoor Kitchen and Grill Line Installation

Outdoor living spaces are a hallmark of Westlake properties, and a dedicated gas line to your outdoor kitchen or built-in grill makes the space far more functional. We run properly sized lines to handle the BTU demands of professional-grade outdoor appliances.

Whole-Home Gas System Upgrades

If your home has aged past the point where repairs make sense, a full gas system upgrade may be the right move. We assess your current setup, identify what needs to go, and install a modern system that can support all of your current and future appliances efficiently.

Generator Gas Line Installation

Backup generators are increasingly common in Westlake, and a permanent gas line is the cleanest way to power one. We size and install the line correctly for your generator's fuel demands, ensuring reliable operation when the power goes out.

Gas Pressure Testing

Before any new installation is put into service, we conduct thorough pressure testing to confirm there are no leaks and that the system delivers consistent flow. This step is non-negotiable on every job we complete in Westlake, regardless of scope.

Preventive Gas Line Maintenance

Routine inspection of your gas lines can catch small problems before they become expensive or dangerous. For Westlake homeowners with older systems, scheduling periodic maintenance is one of the smartest things you can do for the long-term safety of your home.

Commercial Gas Line Services

Cold is on the Right also serves commercial properties in the Westlake area that rely on natural gas for cooking, heating, or industrial equipment. We bring the same licensing, precision, and code compliance to every commercial project we take on. Learn More

We Know Westlake Homes

Westlake is full of well-built homes from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, many of them custom or semi-custom builds on large lots with mature oak trees, privacy hedges, and outdoor living areas that have been added and expanded over the years. These homes were constructed with quality materials, but the gas systems inside them are reaching an age where original components start to fail in predictable ways. We see a lot of corroded black iron lines, fittings that have loosened over decades of thermal cycling, and systems that have been extended multiple times without a coherent plan behind the additions.

The Hill Country terrain and rocky soil that define this part of Austin's west side also affect how underground gas lines age and how we have to approach installation and trenching. Westlake homeowners generally have high standards and aren't looking for a quick fix — they want someone who understands the home and handles it with care. That's exactly how our team approaches every job here. We know the neighborhood, we know the homes, and we know what it takes to do this work correctly in an area where shortcuts aren't acceptable.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if the gas lines in my older Westlake home need to be replaced?
If your home was built in the 1970s or 1980s and the gas lines have never been replaced, it's worth having them inspected. Common warning signs include a rotten egg smell, hissing sounds near lines or appliances, unexplained increases in your gas bill, or appliances that won't light consistently. Older black iron pipe can corrode from the inside over decades, and that corrosion isn't always visible from the outside. A licensed technician can pressure test your system and give you a clear picture of what's going on.
What does gas line installation typically cost in the Westlake area?
Costs vary depending on the scope of work, the length and routing of the line, and whether any existing infrastructure needs to be removed or modified. A single appliance connection might run a few hundred dollars, while replacing a full home gas system or running a new line across a large Westlake lot with rocky terrain could range from $1,500 to $5,000 or more. We always provide a detailed, upfront estimate before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.
What should I do if I smell gas in my Westlake home?
Leave the home immediately without turning any lights or switches on or off, as electrical sparks can ignite gas. Once you're outside, call your gas utility company to shut off service, and then give us a call to diagnose and repair the source of the leak. Do not re-enter the home until both the utility company and a licensed technician have confirmed it is safe. Gas leaks are emergencies and should always be treated as one.
