About Our HVAC Services in Georgetown

Georgetown's growth has brought an unusually wide range of homes and HVAC systems into one city. Our technicians service everything from aging window-unit setups and original ductwork in historic properties near the Williamson County Courthouse to the high-efficiency heat pumps and zoned systems going into today's new construction. We're familiar with the equipment choices builders are making right now in communities like Wolf Ranch, Morningstar, and Teravista, and we know what tends to go wrong in older systems that have been running through Central Texas summers for decades.

When you call Cold is on the Right, you get licensed technicians who explain what they find, give you clear pricing before any work starts, and don't push you toward a replacement you don't need. Georgetown homeowners are busy, and we respect that. We show up on time, work efficiently, and leave your home the way we found it.

AC Installation

Installing a new air conditioner in Georgetown means accounting for the size and layout of your home, from the compact footprints of historic downtown properties to the open floor plans in newer master-planned communities. We size systems correctly, match equipment to your home's load, and install everything to manufacturer specs so your new AC runs efficiently from day one.

AC Replacement

If your air conditioner is 10 to 15 years old and struggling through Georgetown summers, replacing it often makes more financial sense than continuing to repair it. We help you compare your options, including high-SEER units that lower monthly energy costs, and handle the full replacement from removal of the old equipment to final system verification.

HVAC Maintenance

Georgetown's combination of hot summers, cedar pollen season, and dusty conditions from nearby Hill Country roads means your HVAC system works hard and accumulates debris fast. Regular maintenance keeps your equipment running efficiently, helps you avoid expensive breakdowns, and keeps your warranty valid. We offer tune-ups for both cooling and heating systems to cover you all year.

HVAC Replacement

When it's time to replace a full system, Georgetown homeowners have a lot of choices, and we help you make the right one. We assess your home's current ductwork, insulation, and load requirements before recommending equipment so you're not overpaying for capacity you don't need. Our replacements include full system testing and a walkthrough of your new equipment before we leave.

Heat Pump Installation

Heat pumps are an increasingly popular choice in Georgetown's newer communities because they handle both heating and cooling efficiently in Central Texas's moderate winters. We install heat pump systems for new construction and as replacements for aging conventional systems, handling everything from equipment selection to electrical connections and refrigerant charging.

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps in Georgetown homes can develop issues like refrigerant loss, reversing valve failures, or defrost cycle problems that leave you without reliable heating or cooling. Our technicians diagnose heat pump problems accurately and carry common parts to speed up repairs. We service all major heat pump brands common in Georgetown's newer subdivisions.

Furnace Repair

While Georgetown winters are mild compared to much of the country, a furnace that fails in January is still a real problem. We repair gas furnaces and electric air handlers quickly, addressing issues like igniter failures, heat exchanger cracks, and blower problems. Older Georgetown homes with original furnace equipment especially benefit from a thorough diagnostic before the cold season hits.

Mini Splits

Mini split systems are a smart solution for Georgetown's historic homes that lack ductwork, additions that fall outside the main system's reach, and converted spaces like garages or casitas. We size, install, and service ductless mini splits from leading brands, giving you efficient, zoned comfort without the expense of running new ductwork through an older structure.

Commercial AC Repair

Georgetown's growing commercial corridor along I-35 and the revitalized downtown square means more local businesses depending on reliable commercial HVAC. We Know Georgetown Homes

Georgetown's housing stock is genuinely one of the most varied we work in. The homes near the historic downtown square are often 80 to 100 years old, built before central air conditioning was standard, and retrofitted with systems over the decades that don't always play nicely together. Ductwork in these properties can be undersized, poorly sealed, or routed in ways that create persistent hot and cold spots. On the other end of the spectrum, Georgetown's newer master-planned communities are adding thousands of homes with modern high-efficiency systems, but new construction comes with its own issues, including systems that weren't commissioned correctly or equipment that was sized for the builder's budget rather than the home's actual load.

We also see the effects of Georgetown's Central Texas climate in ways that are specific to this area. The chalky limestone soil, the proximity to open Hill Country land, and the seasonal cedar and oak pollen all put extra stress on HVAC systems here. Outdoor condenser units get clogged faster, filters load up more quickly, and drainage lines are more prone to algae growth in the summer humidity. Knowing these patterns means we can spot problems early, explain them in plain terms, and help Georgetown homeowners make decisions that actually make sense for their specific home and budget.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I should repair or replace my HVAC system in Georgetown?
The general rule of thumb is to compare the repair cost against the age and value of the system. If a repair costs more than about 30 percent of what a replacement would cost, and your system is already 10 to 15 years old, replacement usually makes better financial sense over time. Georgetown summers are long and demanding, so an aging system that's struggling now is likely to keep struggling and keep costing you. We provide honest assessments and free estimates so you can make the decision with clear information in front of you.
How often should I have my HVAC system serviced in Georgetown?
We recommend at least one professional tune-up per year, and ideally two: one in spring before the cooling season starts and one in fall before you lean on your heating system. Georgetown's cedar and oak pollen seasons hit hard, and the dusty conditions from nearby open land mean your system accumulates debris faster than average. Regular maintenance keeps efficiency up, catches small problems before they become expensive ones, and helps your equipment last longer.
What HVAC system is best for a historic Georgetown home that doesn't have ductwork?
Ductless mini split systems are usually the most practical solution for older Georgetown homes without existing ductwork. They allow you to add efficient, zoned heating and cooling without tearing into walls to run ducts, which is especially important in historic properties where preserving the structure matters. Mini splits are also highly efficient, so operating costs tend to be lower than window units or other workarounds. The right system depends on your home's layout and square footage, which we assess before making any recommendation.
Why are my energy bills so high even though my HVAC system seems to be working?
High energy bills with a seemingly functional system usually point to a few common culprits: the system may be losing refrigerant and working overtime to compensate, the ductwork may be leaking conditioned air into unconditioned spaces, the equipment may simply be old and inefficient, or the system may have been sized incorrectly for the home. In Georgetown's newer large-footprint homes, duct leakage is a particularly common issue. A diagnostic visit can identify where the energy is going and what the most cost-effective fix would be.
Do new construction homes in Georgetown's master-planned communities need HVAC service soon after move-in?
Yes, more often than people expect. New construction systems are sometimes installed quickly and not always commissioned with the care they deserve. It's common to find refrigerant charges that are slightly off, ductwork connections that aren't fully sealed, or thermostats that aren't calibrated correctly. Getting a professional check-up in the first year can catch these issues while they're minor, ensure your equipment is running at rated efficiency, and set a baseline for future maintenance.
How quickly can you respond to an emergency HVAC call in Georgetown?
We prioritize emergency calls for situations like a complete cooling failure during a heat wave or a heating system that won't fire in cold weather. Response times vary based on current demand, but we work hard to get to Georgetown homeowners as quickly as possible. When you call, give us as much detail as you can about what the system is doing so we can bring the right parts and equipment the first time.
