About Our Furnace Repair Services in Georgetown

Georgetown has grown faster than almost any city in Texas over the past decade, and that growth has created a unique mix of heating systems throughout the area. Older homes near the historic downtown often have aging furnaces and ductwork that have been patched over the years and can develop persistent issues. Newer neighborhoods like Wolf Ranch, Morningstar, and Sun City feature more modern equipment, but even newer systems can have installation quirks or warranty-related failures that need attention from a knowledgeable technician.

Cold is on the Right provides furnace repair across all of Georgetown, working on gas furnaces, electric furnaces, heat pumps, and dual-fuel systems of every major brand and age. Our technicians evaluate the blower motor, burner assembly, heat exchanger, thermostat, electrical connections, and ductwork to find the actual source of the problem, not just the symptom. We explain what we find in plain language, give you real options, and get your heat back on without unnecessary upsells or surprise charges.

Furnace Repair Services We Provide in Georgetown

Gas Furnace Repair

Gas furnaces are common throughout Georgetown, especially in older homes near the historic district and mid-2000s subdivisions that predate the more recent building boom. We diagnose and repair ignition failures, burner issues, gas valve problems, and heat exchanger cracks, which can be a serious safety concern if left unaddressed. Our technicians make sure your gas furnace is operating safely and efficiently before we consider the job done.

Electric Furnace Repair

Electric furnaces are found throughout Georgetown's newer master-planned communities, where all-electric home construction has become increasingly common. We troubleshoot failed heating elements, relay issues, sequencer faults, and thermostat problems that prevent your electric furnace from producing consistent heat. Getting to the right component quickly is what separates a fast repair from an all-day ordeal, and our technicians know the difference.

Learn More

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps are popular in Georgetown's newer developments because they handle both heating and cooling efficiently, which makes sense in Central Texas's climate. When a heat pump stops heating effectively, it can be caused by refrigerant issues, a faulty reversing valve, or a failing compressor, and diagnosing that correctly takes specialized knowledge. We repair all major heat pump brands and make sure your system is handling Georgetown winters the way it should.

Furnace Blower Motor Repair

A failed or failing blower motor means warm air never actually circulates through your home, leaving you with a furnace that runs but rooms that stay cold. This is a common issue in Georgetown homes where furnaces have been running for ten or more years without regular maintenance. We test motor function, check capacitors and wiring, and replace the motor when needed to restore proper airflow throughout your home.

Learn More

Ignition and Pilot Light Repair

If your furnace clicks repeatedly but never fires, or shuts off shortly after starting, the ignition system is usually the culprit. Older Georgetown homes may still have standing pilot setups, while newer systems use hot surface igniters or electronic ignition that can fail from age or power fluctuations. We identify the exact failure point and restore reliable ignition so your furnace starts every time it should.

Learn More

Thermostat Repair and Replacement

A malfunctioning thermostat can make a perfectly functional furnace behave erratically, causing short cycling, inconsistent temperatures, or a system that simply won't respond to your settings. Georgetown homes with older wiring or DIY smart thermostat installations can run into compatibility and calibration issues that are easy to misdiagnose. We test the full control circuit, identify whether the problem is the thermostat or something deeper in the system, and get it resolved quickly.

Learn More

Ductwork Inspection and Repair

Leaky or disconnected ductwork is one of the most common reasons Georgetown homeowners notice uneven heating, especially in older homes where duct connections have loosened over decades. In newer construction, poor installation can leave gaps that waste energy from day one. We inspect your duct system, locate leaks or disconnections, and seal them so conditioned air actually reaches every room in your home.

Learn More

Heat Exchanger Inspection

A cracked heat exchanger is one of the most serious furnace problems because it can allow combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, to enter your living space. Georgetown homeowners with furnaces that are ten years old or more should have the heat exchanger inspected regularly, especially if they notice unusual smells or symptoms that come on when the heat is running. We perform thorough visual and pressure inspections and give you an honest assessment of what we find.

Furnace Tune-Up and Preventive Maintenance

A tune-up before Georgetown's cool season catches small problems before they become expensive failures, and it keeps your furnace running at peak efficiency all winter long. Our maintenance visits include cleaning the burner assembly, testing safety controls, checking electrical connections, lubricating moving parts, and verifying thermostat calibration. Homeowners who stay on a regular maintenance schedule see fewer emergency calls and longer equipment lifespans.

Learn More

Furnace Replacement Consultation

Sometimes the most cost-effective decision is replacing an aging furnace rather than continuing to repair it, especially if your unit is over 15 years old or has experienced repeated failures. We give Georgetown homeowners an honest evaluation of whether repair or replacement makes more financial sense for their specific situation, without pushing toward the more expensive option. If replacement is the right call, we walk you through equipment options, efficiency ratings, and financing before any decision is made.

Learn More

New Furnace Installation

Whether you're replacing an old unit or installing heating in a newly built Georgetown home, proper installation is what determines how well your furnace performs over its entire lifespan. We size equipment correctly for your home's square footage, insulation, and layout, which is especially important in Georgetown's larger master-planned homes where undersized equipment struggles to keep up. Our licensed technicians handle the full installation, from equipment selection to final commissioning and testing.

We Know Georgetown Homes

Georgetown's housing stock is genuinely one of the most varied of any city in Central Texas. Near the historic downtown square, you'll find homes built in the early 1900s that have been updated in layers over the decades, often with older furnaces that have outlived their expected lifespan or ductwork that was retrofitted rather than designed from scratch. These systems require a technician who can work with what's there rather than defaulting to a full replacement, and that takes experience with older equipment that not every HVAC company carries.

Out in the master-planned communities that have defined Georgetown's growth, the challenge shifts. Wolf Ranch, Morningstar, Berry Creek, and Sun City each have their own construction patterns and equipment generations, and the sheer scale of these neighborhoods means we see a lot of the same models and the same failure patterns. Georgetown also sits in the heart of Williamson County's limestone terrain, which affects well water hardness and can influence humidifier components and water-based HVAC systems. Knowing the community means we show up prepared, not guessing.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does furnace repair typically cost in Georgetown, TX?
Furnace repair costs in Georgetown generally range from around $150 for a minor fix like a thermostat replacement or igniter swap to $600 or more for larger repairs like a blower motor or control board replacement. Heat exchanger issues are on the higher end and sometimes shift the conversation toward replacement rather than repair. The wide range of home ages in Georgetown means we see everything from older systems that need harder-to-find parts to newer equipment still under manufacturer warranty. We provide upfront pricing after diagnosing the problem, so you always know the cost before we do any work.
How long does a furnace repair take?
Most furnace repairs in Georgetown can be completed in one to three hours depending on what's wrong and whether parts are needed. Common issues like igniter failures, capacitor replacements, or thermostat problems are often resolved in a single visit because these are high-failure parts we typically carry on the truck. More complex repairs involving the heat exchanger, gas valve, or control board may require a parts run or a follow-up visit if a specific component needs to be ordered. We'll give you a realistic timeframe after diagnosing the problem so you can plan accordingly.
Is it worth repairing an older furnace or should I replace it?
The general rule of thumb is to compare the repair cost against the age and value of the unit. If your furnace is under 10 years old and the repair is less than half the cost of a new system, repair usually makes sense. For Georgetown homeowners with furnaces that are 15 years or older, especially in older homes near the historic district, replacement often delivers better long-term value through improved efficiency and fewer future breakdowns. We'll give you an honest assessment of your specific unit, including its efficiency rating and repair history, so you can make an informed decision rather than a guess.
What should I check before calling for furnace repair?
Before calling, check that your thermostat is set to heat mode and that the temperature is set higher than the current room temperature. Make sure your filter isn't completely clogged, because a severely restricted filter can cause the furnace to overheat and shut off on a safety limit. Check that the circuit breaker for the furnace hasn't tripped and that the furnace power switch on or near the unit is in the on position. If those basics check out and the furnace still won't run or heat properly, it's time to call a technician, especially if you smell anything unusual coming from the unit.
Why is my furnace blowing cold air in my Georgetown home?
Cold air from a furnace that's running is one of the most common complaints we get, and there are several possible causes. A failed igniter or faulty flame sensor can prevent the burners from lighting even while the blower continues to run. An overheated furnace that's triggered its high-limit safety switch will also shut off the burners but keep circulating air. In heat pump systems, a refrigerant issue or a faulty reversing valve can prevent the system from switching into heating mode. The specific cause depends on your system type and age, which is why proper diagnosis matters more than guessing.
How often should I have my furnace serviced in Georgetown?
Most HVAC professionals recommend annual furnace maintenance, ideally in the fall before you need the heat consistently. In Georgetown, where homes range from older historic properties to new master-planned community builds, maintenance intervals really do matter because both ends of that spectrum have their own vulnerabilities. Older systems are more prone to heat exchanger cracks and ignition wear, while newer systems need to have their warranties maintained through documented service. A yearly tune-up typically runs between $80 and $150 and can catch small issues before they turn into a no-heat situation on the coldest night of the year.
