About Our Furnace Installation in Georgetown

Georgetown isn't a one-size-fits-all community, and furnace installation here isn't either. The older homes near the historic downtown were often built with minimal insulation and ductwork that's been patched together over decades. Installing a new furnace in those homes requires someone who knows how to assess existing duct systems, size equipment accurately, and make sure a modern unit doesn't overwork itself trying to heat a space that wasn't designed for it.

Then there are the master-planned developments that have exploded across Georgetown in recent years — Sun City, Wolf Ranch, Oaks at San Gabriel, and more. These newer homes come with their own challenges: builder-grade HVAC equipment that often reaches the end of its useful life sooner than homeowners expect, and layouts with open floor plans that demand properly sized, efficient systems. Cold is on the Right installs furnaces across all of Georgetown's housing stock, and we know the difference between what these homes need.

New Furnace Installation

We install gas and electric furnaces in Georgetown homes of all ages and sizes. Getting the sizing right from the start is the single most important factor in long-term performance.

Furnace Replacement

If your current furnace is more than 15 years old or has needed repeated repairs, replacement is often the smarter investment. We help Georgetown homeowners compare options, understand efficiency ratings, and choose a system that fits their budget and their home — not just whatever's in stock. A properly matched replacement system can cut heating costs significantly in larger new-construction homes.

Gas Furnace Installation

Natural gas furnaces remain a popular choice in Georgetown for their heating power and operating efficiency. We install high-efficiency gas furnaces that are compatible with Georgetown's utility infrastructure and properly vented to meet safety codes. For older homes near downtown where gas lines may be aging, we inspect connections and recommend any necessary upgrades before installation.

Electric Furnace Installation

Electric furnaces are a solid option for Georgetown homes without natural gas access, including some of the newer developments on the city's outskirts. We install electric units that integrate cleanly with your existing electrical panel, and we'll flag any panel capacity concerns before the job starts. Clean installation with no combustion venting makes electric furnaces straightforward and low-maintenance.

Ductwork Evaluation and Upgrade

A new furnace is only as effective as the duct system delivering its heat. In Georgetown's older homes, we frequently find leaking, undersized, or deteriorating ductwork that would undermine even a top-tier new furnace. We inspect, seal, and where necessary replace ductwork as part of the installation process so your investment actually performs the way it should.

Thermostat Installation and Smart Home Integration

Every furnace installation we complete includes proper thermostat setup, and we offer smart thermostat upgrades that are worth it in Georgetown's climate. Programmable and smart thermostats let you dial back heating during mild winters and respond quickly when a cold front moves through. Many of Georgetown's newer master-planned communities are wired for smart home systems, and we make sure your thermostat works within that ecosystem.

HVAC System Maintenance After Installation

Installing a furnace correctly is step one — keeping it running efficiently for years is step two. We offer ongoing HVAC maintenance plans for Georgetown homeowners that include annual furnace tune-ups, filter checks, and early detection of any developing issues. Staying ahead of small problems is far cheaper than emergency repairs down the road.

Furnace Repair

Sometimes a full replacement isn't the right call yet. If your Georgetown furnace is failing but still has life left in it, our technicians can diagnose and repair the issue efficiently. We provide honest assessments of whether repair or replacement makes more financial sense for your specific unit and situation.

Learn More

Heating System Repairs

Beyond the furnace itself, heating system problems can stem from heat exchangers, ignitors, blower motors, or control boards. Our technicians are trained to diagnose problems across the full heating system, not just the obvious components. Georgetown homeowners dealing with uneven heat, frequent cycling, or strange smells should have their entire system evaluated.

Indoor Air Quality Integration

A new furnace installation is an ideal time to add air filtration, humidification, or UV purification to your system. Georgetown's dry Hill Country winters can leave indoor air uncomfortably arid, and whole-home humidifiers integrated with your furnace can make a real difference in comfort. We discuss these add-ons with every Georgetown customer during the installation process.

Load Calculation and System Sizing

Improperly sized furnaces are one of the most common causes of premature system failure and high energy bills. We perform proper Manual J load calculations for every Georgetown home before recommending equipment, accounting for square footage, ceiling height, insulation levels, and window placement. Georgetown's mix of historic and new construction means sizing can vary dramatically even between neighboring homes.

We Know Georgetown Homes

Georgetown's historic neighborhoods have a character you don't find in most Texas cities, but those beautiful older homes on Eighth Street and around the square come with HVAC realities that newer construction doesn't. We regularly work in homes where the existing ductwork was installed in the 1970s, where attic insulation is minimal, and where the original floor plan creates real challenges for airflow. Knowing how to work within those constraints — rather than just dropping in modern equipment and hoping for the best — is the difference between an installation that performs and one that creates frustration for years.

On the other side of Georgetown, the master-planned communities that have defined the city's growth bring a different set of considerations. Builder-grade equipment in Sun City and Wolf Ranch often hits the 10 to 12 year mark and starts showing its limitations right when residents least expect it. We understand the specific layouts common in those developments, the equipment brands typically spec'd during construction, and what replacement options genuinely upgrade performance rather than just swap one mediocre unit for another. Georgetown's range is genuinely unique, and we've worked in enough homes here to know how to approach both ends of it.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a furnace installation cost in Georgetown, TX?
Furnace installation in Georgetown typically ranges from $2,500 to $6,500 or more depending on the equipment selected, the complexity of the installation, and whether ductwork modifications are needed. High-efficiency gas furnaces with variable-speed blowers will cost more upfront but deliver lower operating costs over time. Older homes near downtown Georgetown sometimes require additional ductwork work that can add to the total. We provide a detailed upfront quote after assessing your home so you know the full cost before any work begins.
How long does a furnace installation take in Georgetown?
Most furnace installations in Georgetown can be completed in a single day, typically four to eight hours depending on the complexity of the job. Straightforward replacements where existing ductwork is in good condition tend to go quickly. Installations in older historic homes or situations requiring ductwork repairs or modifications can take longer. We schedule a specific window and give you a realistic timeframe before we start so you can plan accordingly.
What size furnace do I need for my Georgetown home?
Furnace sizing depends on your home's square footage, ceiling height, insulation levels, window area, and how air-tight the construction is. Georgetown's housing stock ranges from compact historic homes with minimal insulation to large open-plan new construction in Sun City or Wolf Ranch, so there's no single answer. A properly sized furnace is critical — too large and it short-cycles without distributing heat evenly, too small and it runs constantly without keeping up. We perform a Manual J load calculation on every Georgetown home before recommending equipment size.
Is a gas or electric furnace better for Georgetown homes?
For most Georgetown homes with natural gas service, a gas furnace is typically the more cost-effective choice for heating output and operating cost. Gas furnaces produce higher heat output faster, which matters during the cold fronts that can hit Central Texas hard in January and February. Electric furnaces are a reliable option for homes without gas access, including some newer developments on Georgetown's growing edges. The right answer depends on your home's existing infrastructure, your utility rates, and your comfort preferences — we discuss both options with every customer.
How do I know if I should repair or replace my Georgetown furnace?
A common guideline is to consider replacement when the repair cost exceeds half the value of the unit or when the furnace is more than 15 years old. In Georgetown, we see a lot of builder-grade furnaces in master-planned communities hitting the 10 to 12 year mark with increasingly frequent failures — at that point replacement usually makes more financial sense than continued repairs. If your furnace is younger and the repair is straightforward, fixing it is often the right call. We give honest assessments and will tell you clearly when repair is the smarter short-term choice versus when replacement is the better long-term investment.
Do I need a permit for furnace installation in Georgetown, TX?
Yes, furnace installations in Georgetown typically require a mechanical permit through the City of Georgetown's Building Inspections division. This is standard for HVAC work and ensures the installation meets current safety codes, including proper venting, gas line connections, and combustion air requirements. Working with a licensed contractor means permitting is handled as part of the job — we pull the necessary permits so the work is done legally and won't cause issues if you sell the home later. Never hire someone who suggests skipping the permit process.
