About Our Water Heater Repair in Bee Cave

Bee Cave is home to some of the newer residential construction in the greater Austin area, and that means a lot of homes here are outfitted with modern water heating systems, including tankless units, high-efficiency storage tanks, and hybrid heat pump water heaters. These systems are built to perform at a premium level, but they still need professional attention when components fail, sediment builds up, or the software and sensors that control them start giving trouble. Cold is on the Right has the training and tools to service the full range of water heater types you'll find in Bee Cave homes.

We understand that Bee Cave homeowners expect a higher standard of service, and we deliver exactly that. Our technicians arrive on time, walk you through exactly what's wrong and what it costs to fix it before any work begins, and treat your home with the care it deserves. If a repair is the right call, we'll repair it. If replacement makes more financial sense, we'll tell you that too, without any pressure tactics. That kind of honest, professional service is why neighbors in Bee Cave keep calling us back.

Water Heater Repair Services We Provide in Bee Cave

Tankless Water Heater Repair

Tankless water heaters are common in Bee Cave's newer construction homes, and when they malfunction, the error codes and component failures require a technician who knows these systems well. We diagnose and repair issues with flow sensors, heating elements, ignition systems, and heat exchangers. Getting your on-demand hot water restored quickly is our priority.

Water Heater Leak Repair

A leaking water heater can cause significant damage to your home's flooring, cabinetry, and structural materials quickly, and that's especially true in the finished spaces common in Bee Cave homes. We locate the source of the leak, whether it's a faulty pressure relief valve, a failing drain valve, or a compromised tank, and repair it before it becomes a bigger problem. Fast response matters when water is already on the floor.

Learn More

Heating Element Replacement

When an electric water heater stops producing hot water or delivers only lukewarm results, a failed heating element is often the culprit. Our technicians test both upper and lower elements, identify which has failed, and replace it with a quality part to restore full performance. This is one of the most common and straightforward repairs on electric tank units.

Learn More

Thermostat Repair and Replacement

A faulty thermostat can leave you with water that's either scalding hot or never quite warm enough. We test the thermostat controls on both electric and gas water heaters and replace them when they're no longer reading or regulating temperature accurately. Proper thermostat function also protects the rest of your system from overheating stress.

Learn More

Sediment Flush and Tank Cleaning

The Hill Country water that supplies Bee Cave homes carries minerals that settle at the bottom of your water heater tank over time, reducing efficiency and causing that rumbling or popping sound you may have noticed. We flush the tank to clear out sediment buildup, which extends the life of your unit and helps it heat water more efficiently. Regular maintenance flushes can prevent more costly repairs down the line.

Learn More

Pressure Relief Valve Repair

The pressure relief valve is a critical safety component on any water heater, and a faulty one can leak constantly or, worse, fail to release pressure when it's actually needed. We test, repair, or replace pressure relief valves to ensure your system is operating safely. This is not a repair to put off, especially in a home where a failure could cause serious damage.

Learn More

Gas Valve and Pilot Light Repair

Gas water heaters that won't stay lit or fail to ignite at all often have issues with the gas valve, thermocouple, or pilot assembly. Our licensed plumbers are trained to diagnose and repair gas system components safely and efficiently, getting your hot water back without unnecessary guesswork. We work on all major brands common in Bee Cave homes.

Learn More

Anode Rod Replacement

The anode rod is your water heater tank's primary defense against corrosion from the inside, and once it's depleted, the tank itself starts to degrade. We inspect and replace anode rods as part of a comprehensive service visit, which is particularly important given the mineral-heavy water in the Lake Travis area. Staying ahead of this keeps your tank running for its full expected lifespan.

Emergency Water Heater Repair

A water heater that fails unexpectedly doesn't wait for a convenient time, and neither do we. Cold is on the Right offers emergency plumbing service for Bee Cave homeowners who need immediate help with a leaking, flooded, or completely failed water heater. We'll get to you fast and make sure your home is protected while we work through the repair.

Learn More

Water Heater Installation

Sometimes a repair isn't the right answer, and when replacement makes more sense, we handle the full installation of your new unit from start to finish. We'll help you select the right size and type of water heater for your Bee Cave home and install it to code with all proper connections and safety checks completed. You won't be left to coordinate multiple contractors or wonder if the job was done right.

Water Heater Replacement

When your water heater has reached the end of its useful life or the cost of repair approaches the cost of a new unit, full replacement is often the smarter investment. We remove your old unit, handle proper disposal, and install a new system matched to your household's hot water demand. Bee Cave homeowners can expect a smooth, professional process with no surprises on the final bill.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Most of the homes we service in Bee Cave were built within the last 15 to 20 years, which means we're often working with tankless water heaters, high-efficiency storage units, and modern plumbing configurations that require a technician who knows these systems specifically. Newer construction doesn't mean trouble-free, though. These homes are hitting the age where water heater components start to wear, and the hard mineral-rich water from the Lake Travis area accelerates sediment buildup and anode rod depletion faster than many homeowners expect.

The Hill Country conditions that make Bee Cave such a desirable place to live also create specific demands on plumbing systems. Fluctuating temperatures, high water hardness, and the demands of larger homes with multiple bathrooms all put real stress on water heaters. We've worked in enough Bee Cave homes to know what we're going to find before we even open the access panel, and that experience means faster diagnosis, fewer surprises, and repairs that hold up over time.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does water heater repair typically cost in Bee Cave?
Water heater repair costs in Bee Cave generally range from around $150 to $600 depending on what needs to be fixed. Simple repairs like thermostat or heating element replacements tend to fall on the lower end, while more involved work like gas valve replacement or extensive leak repair can run higher. Tankless water heater repairs can sometimes cost more due to the complexity of the components involved. Cold is on the Right always provides upfront pricing before starting any work, so you'll know the exact cost before we begin. Getting a repair done promptly usually prevents more expensive damage down the road.
Is it worth repairing my water heater, or should I just replace it?
The general rule of thumb is that if your water heater is under 8 years old and the repair cost is less than half the price of a new unit, repair is usually the smarter choice. For units over 10 to 12 years old, especially in areas with hard water like Bee Cave where mineral buildup accelerates wear, replacement often makes more financial sense in the long run. A newer high-efficiency tankless unit that's only a few years old is almost always worth repairing, since these systems are designed to last 20 years or more with proper maintenance. Our technicians will give you an honest assessment of your specific unit's condition and age so you can make the right call. We don't push replacement if repair is genuinely the better option.
How does the hard water in the Bee Cave area affect my water heater?
The water in the Lake Travis and Bee Cave area is notably hard, meaning it carries high levels of calcium and magnesium minerals. Over time these minerals settle at the bottom of your water heater tank as sediment, reducing heating efficiency and causing the rumbling or popping sounds many homeowners notice. Sediment buildup also makes the tank work harder, which shortens its overall lifespan. On tankless units, hard water can cause scale to form on the heat exchanger, reducing output and potentially triggering error codes. Annual flushing and descaling service can significantly slow this process and extend the life of your system.
What should I do if my water heater is leaking?
If you notice water pooling around your water heater, the first step is to turn off the cold water supply valve at the top of the unit to stop more water from entering. If the leak is significant or you can't locate the shutoff, turning off the main water supply to your home is the safest move. For gas water heaters, turn off the gas supply as well and make sure the area is ventilated. Call for service right away, because even a slow leak can cause serious water damage to flooring, drywall, and cabinetry, especially in the finished spaces common in Bee Cave homes. Don't assume a small drip will resolve on its own.
Why is my tankless water heater not producing hot water consistently?
Inconsistent hot water from a tankless unit is one of the most common service calls we handle in Bee Cave, and there are several likely causes. Mineral scale buildup on the heat exchanger from the area's hard water is a frequent culprit and can often be resolved with a descaling service. A failing flow sensor, a partially blocked inlet filter, or a malfunctioning temperature sensor can all cause similar symptoms. Some homeowners also experience the so-called cold water sandwich effect, where a brief burst of cold water runs between two draws of hot water, which is a normal characteristic of some tankless systems rather than a malfunction. A technician can quickly determine whether what you're experiencing is a mechanical issue or a system behavior that can be adjusted.
How long does a water heater repair take in Bee Cave?
Most water heater repairs are completed in a single visit lasting one to two hours. Common repairs like heating element replacement, thermostat replacement, pressure relief valve replacement, or a sediment flush can usually be handled quickly if the right parts are on hand. More complex repairs on tankless or hybrid systems, or situations where a part needs to be ordered, may require a follow-up visit. Our technicians come prepared with the most commonly needed parts for the makes and models we frequently service in Bee Cave. We'll give you an accurate time estimate once we've diagnosed the problem.
