Water Heater Replacement Services We Provide in Bee Cave

Traditional Tank Water Heater Replacement

We replace aging 40- and 50-gallon tank water heaters with high-efficiency models from reliable brands. Many Bee Cave homes built in the early 2000s are now on their second or third water heater, and upgrading to a newer unit means better recovery rates and lower energy bills.

Learn More

Tankless Water Heater Installation

Tankless systems are a popular upgrade in Bee Cave's larger custom homes, where demand for hot water is high and garage or utility room space is at a premium. We size and install whole-home tankless units that deliver endless hot water without the standby energy loss of a tank system.

Water Heater Repair vs. Replacement Assessment

Not every failing water heater needs to be replaced — but many do. We assess your unit honestly and tell you whether a repair makes financial sense or whether replacement is the smarter call for your situation. There's no pressure, just straightforward advice based on the age and condition of your equipment.

Learn More

Gas Water Heater Replacement

Many Bee Cave homes run natural gas appliances, and gas water heaters require careful disconnection and reconnection by a licensed plumber. We handle all gas line work safely and in compliance with local code, ensuring your new unit is leak-free and operating efficiently from day one.

Learn More

Electric Water Heater Replacement

Some Bee Cave properties — particularly those in newer planned communities or homes without natural gas service — rely on electric water heaters. We replace electric units and can help you evaluate whether switching to a heat pump water heater or a gas-fed system makes sense for your home's setup.

Learn More

Water Heater Sizing and Capacity Upgrade

Growing families and larger homes often outpace the capacity of the original water heater. We help Bee Cave homeowners right-size their replacement unit so there's enough hot water for multiple bathrooms, large soaking tubs, and back-to-back showers without waiting for recovery.

Learn More

Expansion Tank Installation

Homes in Bee Cave served by closed plumbing systems are required by code to have an expansion tank installed alongside the water heater. We include this assessment in every replacement and install expansion tanks where needed to protect your plumbing system from pressure buildup.

Learn More

Water Heater Permit and Code Compliance

Water heater replacements in Travis County often require a permit, and work that skips this step can create problems when you sell your home. We handle permitting where required and make sure every installation meets current code — important in a market where home inspections are thorough.

Learn More

Old Unit Removal and Disposal

We don't leave your old water heater for you to deal with. Our team disconnects, drains, and hauls away the existing unit as part of every replacement job. Your garage or utility room will be clean and ready when we leave.

Learn More

Recirculation System Installation

Larger Bee Cave homes with long pipe runs can wait 30 seconds or more for hot water to arrive at a distant bathroom. We install hot water recirculation pumps alongside your new water heater to deliver near-instant hot water throughout the home — a worthwhile upgrade in sprawling single-story layouts.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Bee Cave's housing stock skews newer compared to much of Austin, but that doesn't mean plumbing concerns are off the table. Homes built in the late 1990s through the mid-2000s — common throughout the 78738 zip code — are now old enough that original water heaters, PRVs, and supply lines are reaching the end of their service life. The hard water in this part of Travis County accelerates mineral scaling inside tanks and on heating elements, shortening the effective lifespan of water heaters compared to what the manufacturer's warranty might suggest.

Larger custom homes on generous lots near Lake Travis also come with their own considerations: longer pipe runs, multi-zone hot water demand, and in some cases propane rather than natural gas service. We've worked in Bee Cave neighborhoods long enough to know what each of these setups requires and how to match the right replacement system to the home. When you call Cold is on the Right, you get a plumber who already understands the territory.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a water heater typically last in Bee Cave?
Most traditional tank water heaters last 8 to 12 years under normal conditions, but in Bee Cave and the surrounding Lake Travis area, the hard water supply tends to shorten that lifespan. Mineral scale builds up inside the tank and on the heating elements, reducing efficiency and causing premature failure. If your unit is 10 years or older and you've noticed any performance issues, it's worth having it assessed rather than waiting for it to fail completely. Tankless units generally last 15 to 20 years with proper maintenance.
What does water heater replacement cost in Bee Cave?
The total cost of water heater replacement in Bee Cave typically ranges from around $1,000 to $1,800 for a standard tank unit, including equipment and labor. Tankless whole-home systems run higher — generally $2,500 to $4,500 depending on the unit and the complexity of the installation. Factors like whether your home needs a gas line upgrade, an expansion tank, or permit fees can affect the final number. We provide a detailed upfront quote before any work begins so there are no surprises.
Is a tankless water heater worth it for a Bee Cave home?
For many Bee Cave homes, especially larger properties with multiple bathrooms and high hot water demand, tankless systems are an excellent long-term investment. They deliver hot water on demand without the standby energy loss of a tank, which adds up to real savings over time. They also last significantly longer than traditional tanks and free up space in your utility room or garage. The higher upfront cost is offset over the life of the unit, and many homeowners find the upgrade worthwhile when they're already replacing a failed tank.
Do I need a permit to replace a water heater in Bee Cave?
Yes, in most cases a permit is required for water heater replacements in the Bee Cave and Travis County area. Permitted work is inspected to confirm it meets current safety and building codes, which matters both for your safety and for future home sales. Skipping a permit can flag during a home inspection and create complications at closing. Cold is on the Right handles permitting as part of the installation process so you don't have to worry about it.
How do I know if my water heater needs to be replaced or just repaired?
The decision usually comes down to age and the nature of the problem. If the unit is under 8 years old and the issue is a failed thermostat or heating element, a repair often makes sense. If the tank itself is leaking, corroding, or showing sediment damage, replacement is almost always the better call — patching a failing tank is rarely cost-effective. Units 10 years or older with recurring issues are generally better replaced, especially given how hard water in this area accelerates internal wear. We assess each situation honestly and tell you which path makes more financial sense.
How long does it take to replace a water heater in Bee Cave?
A straightforward tank water heater replacement typically takes 2 to 3 hours from start to finish. Tankless installations can take 4 to 6 hours depending on whether gas line modifications or new venting is required. We schedule most replacements within the same week, and in urgent situations we can often accommodate faster turnaround. Once the job is complete, your new unit will be fully operational before our team leaves — there's no waiting period to use your hot water.
