About Our Water Heater Installation in Bee Cave

Bee Cave has seen significant growth over the past two decades, and the homes here reflect that — large square footage, open-concept layouts, multiple bathrooms, and the kind of demand for hot water that a standard 40-gallon tank simply wasn't designed to handle. Our team installs water heaters that are properly matched to the size and flow requirements of homes in communities like Falconhead, The Homestead, and Spanish Oaks, so you're never the one taking a cold shower at the end of the line.

We also understand that Bee Cave homeowners value upgrades that add long-term value and efficiency. Whether you're replacing a builder-grade water heater that's finally reached the end of its life or making a planned switch to a high-efficiency tankless system, we walk you through every option — including energy savings, capacity, and expected lifespan — so you can make a confident decision. Our licensed plumbers handle permitting, installation, and final inspection so nothing gets missed.

Water Heater Installation Services We Provide in Bee Cave

Tank Water Heater Installation

Traditional storage tank water heaters remain a reliable and cost-effective option for many Bee Cave homes. We install natural gas and electric models from trusted brands, properly sized to meet the hot water demands of larger households common throughout the Lake Travis area. Our team handles everything from removing your old unit to final testing.

Tankless Water Heater Installation

Tankless water heaters are an especially popular upgrade in Bee Cave, where homeowners prioritize efficiency and never want to run out of hot water across multiple bathrooms. We install whole-home and point-of-use tankless units, including proper gas line sizing or electrical upgrades needed to support the system. These units last significantly longer than traditional tanks and reduce monthly energy costs.

Water Heater Replacement

When your existing water heater is aging out, a timely replacement keeps you from dealing with leaks or sudden failure — especially in homes where the unit is tucked into a utility closet or attic space. We assess your current setup, recommend the right replacement, and handle the swap efficiently so your household isn't without hot water for long. We also properly dispose of your old unit.

Water Heater Repair

Not every water heater issue calls for a full replacement, and our technicians are straight with you about which repairs are worth making. Common issues we fix in Bee Cave homes include failing heating elements, sediment buildup from hard Hill Country water, thermostat problems, and faulty pressure relief valves. We diagnose accurately and fix efficiently.

Learn More

Gas Line Connection for Water Heaters

Many Bee Cave homes run natural gas, and a proper gas line connection is critical for both performance and safety when installing a new water heater. Our licensed plumbers ensure gas supply lines are correctly sized for the BTU demands of your new unit, connections are leak-tested, and everything meets local code requirements. We never cut corners on gas work.

Water Heater Permit and Inspection

Water heater installations in the Bee Cave area require permits through the City of Bee Cave or Travis County, depending on your location. We handle the permit process on your behalf and schedule the required inspection so your installation is fully compliant. Proper documentation also protects you when it comes time to sell your home.

Expansion Tank Installation

Homes on closed plumbing systems — which is increasingly common in newer Bee Cave construction — require a thermal expansion tank alongside a new water heater installation to manage pressure safely. Skipping this step can shorten the life of your water heater and create code violations. We assess your system and install expansion tanks when required.

Water Softener Integration

Hard water is a real issue throughout the Hill Country, and it accelerates sediment buildup inside water heaters, reducing efficiency and shortening lifespan. If your home has an existing water softener, we make sure your new water heater installation integrates properly with that system. For homes without softening, we can discuss options that extend the life of your equipment.

Point-of-Use Water Heater Installation

Large Bee Cave homes with sprawling floor plans often benefit from a point-of-use water heater installed near a remote bathroom, outdoor kitchen, or guest suite to eliminate long waits for hot water. These compact units are installed close to the fixture they serve and work alongside your main water heater. It's a practical upgrade that improves daily comfort significantly.

Water Heater Relocation

Home renovations, garage conversions, and finished utility spaces sometimes require moving an existing water heater to a new location. We handle the full relocation including rerouting gas or electrical lines, water supply and drain connections, and any venting adjustments needed. Proper relocation ensures code compliance and long-term performance.

Annual Water Heater Maintenance

Even newer water heaters benefit from regular maintenance, especially in areas with hard water like Bee Cave. We flush sediment from the tank, inspect the anode rod, test the pressure relief valve, and check for early signs of corrosion or wear. Routine maintenance can add years to your water heater's life and catch small issues before they become expensive ones.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Bee Cave is largely built on homes constructed in the 2000s and 2010s, which means many of the water heaters installed during original construction are now approaching or past their expected lifespan. These builder-grade units weren't always sized for the high-demand households that now occupy them, and we see the same failure patterns regularly: sediment-heavy tanks from hard Hill Country water, undersized units struggling to serve four or five bathrooms, and PRVs that were never quite right from day one. Knowing what to expect before we walk in the door means we diagnose faster and recommend better solutions.

The Lake Travis area also brings its own set of conditions worth knowing — mineral-heavy water that's tough on equipment, larger homes that expose the limits of a single standard tank, and homeowners who want upgrades that actually last. We've worked throughout Falconhead, Ladera, and the neighborhoods tucked off Hamilton Pool Road, and we treat every job with the same attention to detail we'd want in our own homes. When you call Cold is on the Right, you're getting technicians who know Bee Cave specifically, not just Austin in general.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does water heater installation cost in Bee Cave?
The cost of water heater installation in Bee Cave typically ranges from $900 to $2,500 for a traditional tank unit, depending on the size, fuel type, and any upgrades needed like expansion tanks or updated connections. Tankless water heater installations generally run $2,000 to $4,500 or more, depending on whether gas line upgrades or electrical work is required. Larger homes in Bee Cave often need higher-capacity units, which affects pricing. We provide an exact, upfront quote before any work begins so there are no surprises.
How long does water heater installation take?
Most standard tank water heater installations in Bee Cave take two to three hours from start to finish, including removal of the old unit and final testing. Tankless installations typically take three to five hours, and can run longer if gas line modifications or dedicated electrical circuits are needed. If permits are required, we handle that process ahead of time so it doesn't delay your installation day. Our goal is always to have your hot water running before we leave.
Should I go tankless or stick with a traditional tank water heater?
For many Bee Cave homes, tankless is worth serious consideration — especially in larger homes with multiple bathrooms where a standard tank struggles to keep up. Tankless units provide continuous hot water on demand, last 15 to 20 years compared to 8 to 12 for most tanks, and can reduce water heating costs by 20 to 30 percent. The upfront cost is higher, but the long-term savings and performance often make sense for the size and lifestyle of households in this area. We'll walk you through both options honestly so you can decide what fits your situation.
Does hard water in Bee Cave affect my water heater?
Yes, hard water is a significant factor throughout the Hill Country, including Bee Cave. High mineral content causes calcium and magnesium to settle at the bottom of your tank as sediment, which reduces efficiency, causes the rumbling sounds many homeowners notice, and shortens the lifespan of the unit. Tankless water heaters are also affected — mineral buildup inside the heat exchanger can cause them to underperform or fail prematurely. Annual flushing and descaling can help significantly, and pairing your water heater with a water softener is one of the best ways to protect your investment.
Do I need a permit to install a water heater in Bee Cave?
Yes, water heater installations in Bee Cave require a permit, and a licensed plumber must perform the work. The permit process involves submitting installation plans and scheduling an inspection upon completion to verify code compliance. We handle the permit application on your behalf and coordinate the inspection so you don't have to navigate that process yourself. Permitted work also creates a proper record for your home, which matters when it comes time to sell.
What size water heater do I need for my Bee Cave home?
Sizing depends on the number of people in your household, the number of bathrooms, and your peak hot water usage habits. A general rule for tank units is 50 gallons for three to four people, 75 to 80 gallons for five or more — but many Bee Cave homes with multiple bathrooms in simultaneous use benefit from going larger or switching to tankless to eliminate the capacity ceiling altogether. For tankless systems, the key metric is flow rate measured in gallons per minute, which we calculate based on how many fixtures you'd typically run at once. We'll assess your home specifically and recommend the right size.
