About Our Water Heater Services in Bee Cave

Bee Cave is home to some of the Austin area's most thoughtfully built newer construction, and many of those homes were outfitted with tankless water heaters, recirculation systems, and high-efficiency units right from the start. That's a great foundation, but even modern systems need expert attention when they fail, scale up with hard Hill Country water, or simply reach the end of their service life sooner than expected. Our Master Plumbers know these systems inside and out and can service or replace virtually any brand or configuration found in Bee Cave homes.

At Cold is on the Right, we match every recommendation to your household's actual demand, your energy goals, and your budget. We're not here to oversell you on equipment you don't need or underdeliver with a cut-rate fix that won't last. We serve the Lake Travis corridor regularly, and we understand what it takes to keep premium homes running at their best. From the Shops at the Galleria area out to Spillman Ranch and beyond, our team is the one Bee Cave homeowners call when they want the job done correctly.

If your water heater is producing lukewarm water, making unusual sounds, or losing pressure, it's time to call a professional before a small problem becomes a costly one. Our plumbers diagnose the root cause quickly and provide honest repair options with transparent pricing. We service all major brands and system types found in Bee Cave homes, including the tankless units common in newer construction.

Water Heater Replacement

When repairs no longer make sense, our team helps you choose a replacement system that improves on what you had. We'll walk you through the options that fit your home's layout, your family's demand, and your efficiency goals — then handle the full replacement from removal of the old unit to final testing of the new one. Bee Cave homeowners can expect zero-pressure guidance and a clean, professional installation.

Learn More

Tankless Water Heater Installation

Tankless water heaters are a popular choice in Bee Cave's newer homes for good reason — they deliver hot water on demand, take up minimal space, and operate more efficiently than traditional tank-style systems. Our plumbers are experienced with gas and electric tankless units and can size, install, and configure your system for optimal performance in larger Lake Travis area homes. We also handle retrofits for homes that are ready to make the switch.

Learn More

Hybrid and Heat Pump Water Heaters

For Bee Cave homeowners looking to maximize energy efficiency, hybrid heat pump water heaters are among the most effective options available. These systems pull heat from the surrounding air rather than generating it directly, dramatically reducing energy consumption while still delivering consistent hot water for large households. Our plumbers can assess whether your home's layout and utility setup make this a smart choice for you.

Learn More

Water Heater Flushing and Maintenance

The hard water in the Hill Country around Bee Cave causes mineral scale to build up inside water heater tanks and along heat exchanger components in tankless units. Regular flushing and descaling keeps your system running efficiently, extends its service life, and helps you avoid the kind of sudden failures that leave a household without hot water. We recommend annual maintenance for most systems in this area.

Learn More

Pressure Relief Valve Service

The temperature and pressure relief valve is one of the most critical safety components on any water heater, and it's often overlooked until it fails or begins leaking. Our licensed plumbers inspect, test, and replace T&P valves as part of our standard service process. In newer Bee Cave homes with high-performance systems, ensuring these safety components are functioning correctly is non-negotiable.

Learn More

Recirculation System Service

Many upscale Bee Cave homes were built with hot water recirculation systems to deliver near-instant hot water to every fixture throughout the house. These systems add comfort but also add complexity, and when they malfunction, the whole household feels it. Our plumbers service recirculation pumps, check timer settings, and diagnose circulation loop issues to restore the instant hot water experience your home was designed to provide.

Learn More

Gas Line Connections for Water Heaters

Gas-powered tankless and storage water heaters require proper gas line sizing and connection to perform safely and at full capacity. In larger Bee Cave homes where demand is higher, undersized gas supply lines are a common source of performance problems. Our licensed plumbers inspect and upgrade gas line connections as needed to ensure your water heater operates exactly as intended.

Emergency Water Heater Service

A water heater failure in a busy Bee Cave household is never convenient, and some situations, such as active leaks or complete loss of hot water, simply can't wait. Cold is on the Right offers emergency water heater service for Bee Cave residents who need a fast, professional response. We diagnose quickly and come prepared to resolve most common issues on the first visit.

Learn More

Water Heater Expansion Tank Installation

Closed plumbing systems, which are increasingly common in newer Bee Cave homes, require an expansion tank to safely manage thermal expansion as water heats up. Without one, excess pressure can shorten the life of your water heater and stress the entire plumbing system. Our plumbers identify whether your home requires an expansion tank and install the right size to protect your investment.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Bee Cave's housing stock is dominated by newer construction, with most homes built in the 2000s through the present day. That means the plumbing systems here tend to be PEX-based, often include tankless water heaters and recirculation loops, and are designed for larger square footage and higher simultaneous demand than a typical Austin home. What looks modern isn't always problem-free, though. Hard Hill Country water leaves calcium and magnesium deposits inside even the newest tankless units, and without regular descaling, performance drops and heat exchangers fail prematurely.

Our technicians work in Bee Cave regularly, so we know the brands and configurations that show up most often here — from the Rinnai and Navien tankless systems in Spillman Ranch homes to the hybrid units tucked into utility closets in Ladera communities. We also understand that homeowners in this area have high standards and busy schedules. We show up prepared, communicate clearly, and get the job done without cutting corners.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to replace a water heater in Bee Cave?
Water heater replacement costs in Bee Cave typically range from around $1,200 to $3,500 or more, depending on the type of unit, the size of your home, and the complexity of the installation. Standard tank-style replacements on the lower end of that range are straightforward, while tankless water heater installations, which are very common in newer Bee Cave homes, generally run higher due to equipment costs and the additional gas line or electrical work often required. We provide upfront, itemized pricing before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.
How long do tankless water heaters last in the Bee Cave area?
Tankless water heaters are generally rated for 20 years or more, but the hard water in the Hill Country around Bee Cave can significantly shorten that lifespan if the unit isn't properly maintained. Calcium and magnesium scale builds up inside the heat exchanger over time, reducing efficiency and eventually causing the unit to fail. Annual flushing and descaling is strongly recommended for any tankless system in this area. With proper maintenance, a quality unit installed by a licensed plumber should give you many years of reliable performance.
Does hard water in Bee Cave affect my water heater?
Yes, and it's one of the most common issues we see with water heaters throughout the Lake Travis area. The water supply in Bee Cave is notably hard, meaning it carries high concentrations of dissolved minerals. Those minerals precipitate out as scale inside your water heater tank or along the heat exchanger in a tankless unit. In a tank-style heater, scale settles at the bottom and causes the rumbling or popping sounds many homeowners notice. In tankless systems, it restricts flow and causes the unit to work harder and run hotter. Regular maintenance — at minimum an annual flush — is the most effective way to manage this.
Should I repair or replace my water heater in Bee Cave?
The general rule of thumb is that if your water heater is more than 10 years old and the repair cost exceeds about 50 percent of what a new unit would cost, replacement is usually the smarter long-term investment. For newer systems in Bee Cave's recently built homes, repair is often the right call, especially if the failure is an isolated component like a heating element, thermostat, or pressure relief valve. Our plumbers will give you an honest assessment of what you have and what makes the most financial sense, without pushing you toward a more expensive option than you actually need.
How long does a water heater installation take in Bee Cave?
A standard tank-style water heater replacement in a Bee Cave home typically takes between two and four hours from start to finish. Tankless water heater installations can take longer — often four to six hours or more — especially when gas line upgrades or new venting configurations are required. Homes with recirculation systems add a bit of time as well. We'll give you a realistic time estimate before the job starts and work efficiently so we're not disrupting your day any longer than necessary.
Do you service the tankless water heater brands commonly found in Bee Cave homes?
Yes. Brands like Rinnai, Navien, Rheem, and Bradford White show up regularly in the newer construction throughout Bee Cave, Lakeway, and the surrounding communities, and our plumbers are experienced with all of them. We carry common replacement parts for the most frequently serviced units and can typically diagnose and repair most issues on the first visit. If a unit is beyond repair, we'll recommend a direct replacement or an upgrade that works with your home's existing infrastructure.
