About Our Plumbing Repair Services in Lakeway

Lakeway's proximity to Lake Travis creates a humid microclimate that accelerates pipe corrosion, encourages mold growth around fixtures, and puts added stress on plumbing connections over time. In older homes built in the 1970s through the 1990s, we routinely find galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes that are well past their reliable service life. These aging systems can develop pinhole leaks, low water pressure, and discoloration issues that go unnoticed until real damage sets in. Our licensed plumbers know exactly what to look for in these homes and come prepared with the right equipment to get repairs done correctly the first time.

At Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air, we've built our reputation in Lakeway the same way this community works — through trust, consistency, and actually showing up when we say we will. Whether you need a fast fix on a leaking pipe, a drain that won't clear, or a full diagnostic on a plumbing system that's been giving you trouble, our team treats every call with the same level of attention. We're not a call center operation. We're local plumbers who care about the homes in this community.

Plumbing Repairs We Provide in Lakeway

Emergency Plumbing

A burst pipe or sewage backup doesn't wait for business hours, and neither do we. Lakeway homeowners dealing with sudden plumbing failures can count on Cold is on the Right for fast emergency response throughout the area. We arrive ready to diagnose and resolve the problem before it causes serious damage to your home.

Leak Detection and Pipe Repair

Hidden leaks are especially common in Lakeway's older homes, where decades of humidity and aging pipe materials create conditions for slow deterioration. Our licensed plumbers use specialized detection equipment to locate leaks behind walls, under slabs, and throughout your plumbing system without unnecessary destruction. Once found, we repair or replace the affected pipe and make sure the fix holds long term.

Drain Cleaning

Slow drains and stubborn clogs are among the most common calls we get in Lakeway, particularly in homes where older cast iron drain lines have accumulated decades of buildup. We use professional-grade drain cleaning equipment and hydro jetting to fully clear blockages rather than just temporarily pushing them down the line. Restoring proper flow protects your pipes and prevents more serious backups down the road.

Slab Leak Detection

Slab leaks are a real concern in Lakeway, where the Hill Country's rocky, shifting soil can place pressure on the copper pipes running beneath home foundations over time. Signs like warm spots on your floor, unexplained increases in your water bill, or the sound of running water with all fixtures off all warrant a professional inspection. Our team uses non-invasive detection methods to pinpoint slab leaks accurately before recommending the most practical repair approach.

Learn More

Whole House Repiping

Many of Lakeway's 1970s and 1980s homes still have their original galvanized steel or polybutylene piping, and those systems have a well-documented history of failure. When repairs become a recurring expense or water quality is noticeably affected, a full repipe is often the most cost-effective long-term solution. Cold is on the Right handles complete whole-house repiping projects with minimal disruption and a clear, upfront price before any work begins.

Learn More

Sewer Line Replacement

Lakeway's tree-lined properties are beautiful, but mature root systems are one of the leading causes of sewer line damage in established neighborhoods. Roots infiltrate older clay and cast iron sewer lines, causing blockages, cracking, and eventual collapse if left untreated. Our team performs thorough sewer line inspections and handles full replacements using modern materials built to outlast what they replace.

Learn More

Water Heater Repair

Lakeway's hard water — a common characteristic throughout the Central Texas Hill Country — accelerates sediment buildup inside water heaters, reducing efficiency and shortening their lifespan. If your hot water is inconsistent, your unit is making rumbling noises, or you're simply not getting enough hot water, it may be time for a repair or replacement. Our plumbers diagnose water heater problems quickly and provide honest recommendations based on your unit's actual condition.

Garbage Disposal Services

A garbage disposal that's jammed, leaking, or simply not grinding the way it should can bring a Lakeway kitchen to a standstill quickly. We repair and replace garbage disposals across all major brands and can usually get the job done the same day. Whether it's a simple reset, a seal repair, or a full replacement, we'll give you a straight answer on what's needed.

Gas Line Installation and Repair

Many Lakeway homes rely on natural gas for cooking, heating, and water heating, and any issue with a gas line demands immediate attention from a licensed professional. Whether you're adding a gas appliance, dealing with a suspected leak, or extending a line to a new outdoor kitchen, Cold is on the Right handles gas line work safely and to code. We don't cut corners on gas — your family's safety is the only priority.

Toilet Repair and Replacement

A running toilet or a slow, weak flush is more than an annoyance — it wastes a significant amount of water and can quietly drive up your monthly bill. In Lakeway's older homes, worn flappers, cracked fill valves, and aging wax ring seals are among the most common culprits. We diagnose toilet problems accurately and give you honest advice on whether a repair or a full replacement is the better investment for your situation.

Fixture Repair and Replacement

Dripping faucets, corroded shutoff valves, and deteriorating supply lines are common in Lakeway homes where humidity takes a toll on fixtures over time. Our plumbers handle repairs and full replacements for all types of kitchen and bathroom fixtures, from faucets and shut-offs to supply lines and angle stops. We use quality parts that hold up in Central Texas conditions and leave the work area clean when we're done.

We Know Lakeway Homes

Lakeway is one of those communities where you really do need to know the housing stock to do good plumbing work. The older homes along the lake — many of them built between the mid-1970s and early 1990s — often still have their original plumbing infrastructure, including galvanized supply lines that are long overdue for replacement and cast iron drain systems that have spent decades collecting buildup. The lake proximity means ambient humidity stays higher here than in other parts of the Austin metro, and that humidity finds its way into crawl spaces, wall cavities, and fixture connections in ways that quietly accelerate corrosion and seal deterioration.

Newer construction in Lakeway brings its own set of considerations. Builds on the more recently developed lots sit on Hill Country terrain with rocky, uneven soil that can shift and settle in ways that stress underground plumbing over time. We also see homeowners in newer builds dealing with warranty periods ending and discovering issues that weren't caught during original inspection. Whether we're working in a 1980s lakeside home or a house that's only a few years old, we come in with real knowledge of what those homes are likely to have, and we use that to diagnose problems faster and give better advice on how to handle them long term.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do plumbing repairs typically cost in Lakeway?
Repair costs in Lakeway vary widely depending on the type of issue and the age of your home's plumbing system. A basic drain cleaning or faucet repair might run $150 to $300, while more involved repairs like slab leak fixes or pipe replacements can range from $800 to several thousand dollars depending on scope. Older homes in Lakeway — particularly those built in the 1970s and 1980s — sometimes require more labor because access to aging pipe systems is more complicated. We always provide upfront pricing before any work begins so there are no surprises on the final bill.
Why is my water pressure low throughout my Lakeway home?
Low water pressure in a Lakeway home is often caused by corrosion buildup inside aging galvanized steel pipes, which narrow the interior diameter over time and restrict flow. It can also result from a partially closed shutoff valve, a pressure regulator that needs adjustment, or a hidden leak that's bleeding pressure from the system. In some cases, homes closer to the lake or on certain supply zones experience pressure variations tied to municipal line conditions. A licensed plumber can quickly identify the source through a pressure test and inspection and recommend the appropriate repair.
I have an older home in Lakeway — how do I know if my pipes need to be replaced?
Homes built in Lakeway before the mid-1990s may still have original galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes, both of which have well-known failure histories. Signs that replacement may be necessary include consistently discolored or rust-colored water, recurring leaks at joints or connections, persistent low pressure throughout the home, or a water heater that's constantly dealing with sediment. If you're spending money on repeated repairs to the same system, a full repipe often ends up being more cost-effective over time. We can inspect your current pipes and give you an honest assessment of where things stand.
What are the signs of a slab leak in a Lakeway home?
Slab leaks occur when water pipes beneath your foundation develop a breach, and they're not uncommon in Lakeway given the rocky, shifting Hill Country soil that can stress underground copper lines over the years. The most common signs include warm or wet spots on your floors, the sound of water running when everything is turned off, unexplained spikes in your water bill, and visible cracks appearing in flooring or baseboards. Some slab leaks go undetected for months, causing significant moisture damage and mold growth beneath the surface. If you suspect one, a professional leak detection inspection using acoustic and pressure-testing equipment is the right first step.
Does the humidity near Lake Travis cause plumbing problems?
Yes, Lakeway's proximity to Lake Travis does create consistently higher ambient humidity compared to areas further from the water, and that has real effects on a home's plumbing over time. Humidity accelerates corrosion on exposed metal pipe fittings and valve bodies, degrades caulking and seals around fixtures faster, and encourages mold growth in areas where there's even minor moisture intrusion. Homeowners in lakeside sections of the community tend to see more fixture corrosion and supply line deterioration than those in drier parts of Central Texas. Regular inspections and using quality corrosion-resistant materials during repairs can help extend the life of your plumbing significantly.
How quickly can you respond to a plumbing emergency in Lakeway?
We offer emergency plumbing service throughout Lakeway and can typically respond the same day for urgent issues like burst pipes, sewage backups, or active water leaks. Our technicians are familiar with the Lakeway area and the local road network, which helps us reach homes on both sides of 620 and along the lake efficiently. When you call about an emergency, be ready to describe what you're seeing so we can bring the right equipment on the first trip. In the meantime, if there's active flooding or a burst pipe, locate your main water shutoff valve and turn it off to limit damage while we're on the way.
