About Our HVAC Maintenance in Round Rock

Round Rock has grown into one of the largest suburbs in Texas, and with that growth comes a wide range of home ages and HVAC systems. Older neighborhoods near downtown Round Rock often have equipment that has been running for 15 to 20 years, while newer subdivisions closer to the Brushy Creek area may have systems that were installed quickly during construction booms and never received a proper first-year tuneup. Cold is on the Right services all of it, and we come prepared knowing what each era of equipment tends to need.

Our HVAC maintenance visits are thorough, not just a filter swap and a signature. We inspect your system from the condenser to the air handler, check refrigerant levels, test electrical connections, evaluate airflow, and flag anything that looks like it could become a problem before the next summer heat wave hits. Round Rock residents are known for doing their research before hiring anyone, and we think that works in our favor because the more you know about what good HVAC maintenance looks like, the easier it is to see the difference in how we work.

HVAC Maintenance Services We Provide in Round Rock

Annual HVAC Tuneup

A full-system tuneup before peak cooling or heating season is the single best thing you can do to protect your equipment. We inspect, clean, and test every major component so your system is ready to handle whatever Central Texas throws at it. Round Rock summers are not forgiving, and a skipped tuneup often shows up as a breakdown in July.

Learn More

AC System Inspection and Maintenance

We check refrigerant levels, clean coils, inspect the condenser unit, and evaluate overall cooling performance. Older homes in Round Rock's established neighborhoods often have systems that are pushing 15 years or more, and these units need more careful attention to keep running efficiently. Catching a refrigerant issue or a dirty evaporator coil early saves you from a full system failure mid-summer.

Heating System Maintenance

While Round Rock winters are mild compared to much of the country, cold snaps can hit fast and a neglected heating system will let you know immediately. We inspect heat exchangers, burners, ignitors, and safety controls to make sure your system lights up reliably when temperatures drop. This is especially important for older furnaces that may not have been serviced in several years.

Air Filter Replacement and Airflow Assessment

A clogged or incorrect filter is one of the most common causes of reduced efficiency and early equipment failure. We replace filters and evaluate your entire duct system for airflow restrictions that could be making your system work harder than it should. Many Round Rock homes, particularly two-story builds from the 1990s and 2000s, have airflow imbalances that go unaddressed for years.

Thermostat Calibration and Controls Check

If your thermostat is reading temperature inaccurately or your system is short-cycling, a calibration issue may be the culprit. We test and calibrate your thermostat, check wiring connections, and make sure your controls are communicating correctly with your HVAC equipment. Tech-savvy Round Rock homeowners who have upgraded to smart thermostats will appreciate that we are comfortable working with all major smart home systems.

Coil Cleaning

Dirty evaporator and condenser coils reduce heat transfer efficiency and make your system work overtime to hit setpoint temperatures. In Round Rock's dusty summer conditions, coil buildup can happen faster than most homeowners expect. We clean coils thoroughly as part of our maintenance process to restore efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Condensate Drain Cleaning and Inspection

A clogged condensate drain is one of the leading causes of water damage in attic-mounted air handlers, which are common in Round Rock homes. We flush and inspect the drain line to prevent backups that can damage ceilings, insulation, and flooring. If your drain pan is showing signs of rust or cracking, we will flag that too.

Heat Pump Maintenance

Heat pumps are increasingly popular in newer Round Rock construction because they handle both heating and cooling efficiently. These systems have unique maintenance needs, including reversing valve checks and refrigerant circuit inspections, that differ from traditional split systems. We maintain heat pumps of all brands and help you get the most out of the investment you made in your equipment.

Mini Split Maintenance

Mini splits are a growing option in Round Rock homes for additions, garages, and rooms that the main system does not reach well. These ductless systems need their filters cleaned and coils serviced regularly to maintain performance. We maintain and service mini split systems from all major manufacturers.

HVAC Repair Evaluation

Sometimes a maintenance visit reveals a repair that needs to happen sooner rather than later. Our technicians will walk you through exactly what we found, what it means for your system, and what your options are. We never pressure you into repairs, but we give you honest information so you can make a smart decision.

HVAC Replacement Planning

If your system is aging out and repairs are becoming more frequent, we can help you evaluate whether maintenance still makes sense or if a replacement is the smarter long-term investment. We provide straightforward assessments with no pressure, so you understand the full picture before making any decisions.

We Know Round Rock Homes

Round Rock's housing stock spans four decades of construction, from the older brick ranch-styles in the established neighborhoods near Brushy Creek to the large two-story homes built during the Dell-era growth boom of the 1990s and 2000s and the newer subdivisions still going up on the north side of town today. Homes built in the 1980s and early 1990s frequently have original ductwork and HVAC systems that have been repaired piecemeal over the years, and those systems develop specific failure patterns we have learned to recognize quickly. The attic-mounted air handlers common in this area are particularly vulnerable to condensate drain problems and heat-related stress during Austin-area summers.

Round Rock also sits in that transition zone where Central Texas heat combines with occasional high humidity from storm systems pushing up from the Gulf, which puts real strain on systems that are not maintained consistently. We also see newer homes in Round Rock that were built fast during high-demand periods and sometimes received installation shortcuts that show up as airflow problems or premature wear a few years in. Our technicians have worked in enough Round Rock neighborhoods, and on enough makes and models of equipment, that we know what questions to ask and what to look for before it becomes your problem.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have my HVAC system serviced in Round Rock?
Most HVAC systems in Round Rock benefit from at least one full maintenance visit per year, ideally in the spring before the heavy cooling season begins. If you have a heat pump or use your heating system regularly during winter, a second visit in the fall is a smart investment. Homes with older equipment, pets, or anyone with respiratory sensitivities may want to service more frequently. Round Rock's long hot summers put more cumulative hours on air conditioning systems than many other parts of the country, which means regular maintenance matters more here than in milder climates.
What does a professional HVAC maintenance visit actually include?
A thorough HVAC maintenance visit covers inspection and cleaning of the condenser and evaporator coils, checking and adjusting refrigerant charge, inspecting electrical connections and safety controls, cleaning or replacing the air filter, flushing the condensate drain line, calibrating the thermostat, and evaluating overall system airflow and performance. Some companies offer a basic filter swap and call it a tuneup, but a real maintenance visit takes time and involves hands-on work on multiple components. After the visit, you should receive a clear summary of what was done and what, if anything, needs attention.
My Round Rock home was built in the 1990s. Should I be concerned about my HVAC system at this point?
Homes built in the 1990s in Round Rock are at a point where HVAC systems may be approaching or past the typical 15 to 20 year lifespan for major equipment. If the original system is still in place, it is worth having it inspected carefully to understand its current condition and efficiency. Older systems often work harder to hit setpoint temperatures, which shows up as higher energy bills over time. A maintenance visit can tell you whether the system has several good years left with proper care or whether it makes more financial sense to plan for replacement in the near future.
How much does HVAC maintenance cost in Round Rock?
A standard HVAC maintenance visit in the Round Rock area typically runs between $80 and $150 for a single system, though pricing varies depending on the type and size of your equipment, the scope of work needed, and whether any repairs are identified during the visit. We provide upfront pricing before any work begins so there are no surprises at the end. If a repair or part replacement is needed, that cost is always discussed and approved before we proceed.
Can regular maintenance actually lower my energy bills in Round Rock?
Yes, and the savings can be meaningful. A dirty or neglected HVAC system works harder to move the same amount of air, which means it runs longer cycles and uses more electricity to reach your set temperature. Studies from the Department of Energy suggest that a poorly maintained system can lose 5 to 25 percent of its efficiency over time. In Round Rock, where air conditioning runs for six or more months of the year, even a modest efficiency improvement adds up to real savings across a full cooling season. Clean coils, proper refrigerant charge, and good airflow are the biggest contributors to keeping operating costs low.
What happens if a technician finds something wrong during my maintenance visit?
If we find an issue during your maintenance visit, we will show you what we found and explain what it means for your system in plain language. You will receive a clear explanation of your options along with honest guidance on whether the issue is urgent or something you can monitor over time. We never pressure homeowners into repairs they do not need, and we do not start any repair work without your approval and a confirmed price. In some cases, a small repair identified during maintenance can prevent a much larger failure down the road, which is one of the main reasons regular maintenance is worth the investment.
