About Our HVAC Replacement in Round Rock

Round Rock has grown fast, and that growth means a wide range of housing stock. Some neighborhoods feature homes that are pushing 40 years old, with original ductwork and HVAC equipment that has long outlived its useful life. In those homes, we often find systems running at a fraction of their rated efficiency, struggling with Texas heat, and costing homeowners real money every month on energy bills. Replacement isn't just a comfort upgrade — it's a practical investment.

At Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air, we understand that Round Rock homeowners do their homework. You've probably already compared brands, read reviews, and have questions about SEER ratings and warranty coverage. Good. We're ready to have that conversation honestly. We'll assess your current system, explain your options without upselling you on equipment you don't need, and give you a firm quote before any work begins. No surprises on the invoice.

HVAC Replacement Services We Provide in Round Rock

Full HVAC System Replacement

When your entire system is at end of life, a full replacement covers both the indoor air handler and the outdoor condenser unit. This is common in Round Rock homes where original 1980s and 1990s equipment is still running on borrowed time. We handle the complete removal, installation, and startup testing so everything works together from day one.

AC Replacement

Central Texas summers push air conditioning systems to their limits, and aging AC units simply can't keep pace with the demand. We replace outdated air conditioning equipment with modern, high-efficiency systems that are properly sized for your Round Rock home's square footage and layout. A correctly sized unit cools more effectively and runs fewer cycles, lowering your monthly energy bill.

Furnace Replacement

Round Rock winters are mild most years, but when a cold front rolls through, a failing furnace becomes an urgent problem. Many older homes in established Round Rock neighborhoods still have gas furnaces that are well past their expected lifespan. We replace outdated furnaces with reliable, efficient units that are ready for whatever the season brings.

Heat Pump Replacement

Heat pumps are increasingly popular in the Round Rock market because they handle both cooling and heating efficiently in our climate. If your existing heat pump is losing efficiency, struggling to maintain temperature, or requiring repeated repairs, replacement often makes more financial sense than continuing to patch it. We install and commission new heat pump systems with full load calculations to match your home.

Ductwork Replacement and Sealing

In many Round Rock homes built in the 80s and 90s, the original ductwork is just as worn as the HVAC equipment itself. Leaky or deteriorating ducts can waste 20 to 30 percent of conditioned air before it ever reaches your living spaces. When we replace your system, we inspect the duct system and recommend sealing or full duct replacement when needed to protect your investment.

Thermostat Upgrade and Smart Controls

A new HVAC system paired with an outdated thermostat is a missed opportunity. We install smart thermostats that integrate with your new equipment and let you manage your home's temperature from your phone — a feature that appeals to a lot of tech-savvy Round Rock households. Proper thermostat programming can extend equipment life and shave real dollars off your utility costs.

Indoor Air Quality System Installation

Round Rock sits in the heart of Central Texas, where cedar fever, pollen, and high dust levels are facts of life. When replacing your HVAC system, it's the ideal time to add whole-home air purifiers, UV systems, or upgraded filtration that works with your new equipment. We can walk you through options that address your specific air quality concerns without unnecessary add-ons.

System Sizing and Load Calculation

One of the most common mistakes in HVAC replacement is installing a system that's the wrong size for the home. An oversized unit short-cycles, wearing out faster and leaving your home humid. An undersized unit runs constantly and never quite gets there. We perform proper Manual J load calculations before recommending any equipment to make sure your new system is sized for your Round Rock home specifically.

Post-Installation HVAC Maintenance Plans

After your new system is installed, keeping it maintained is how you protect that investment and preserve your manufacturer's warranty. Our maintenance plans cover seasonal tune-ups, filter changes, and system checks designed to catch small problems before they become expensive ones. For Round Rock homeowners who want predictable costs and fewer surprises, a maintenance plan makes sense from day one.

When a system fails completely in July, you don't have the luxury of a leisurely decision-making process. We offer fast consultations for Round Rock homeowners facing emergency replacement situations, helping you understand your options and get a new system on order as quickly as possible. We'll be honest about lead times and keep you informed every step of the way.

Manufacturer Warranty Registration and Support

We handle warranty registration on your behalf and provide you with the documentation you need. If a covered issue comes up down the road, you'll have everything in order to make a claim without hassle.

We Know Round Rock Homes

Round Rock is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and that growth has happened across several decades. The older neighborhoods near downtown and along the Brushy Creek corridor feature homes built in the late 1980s and 1990s, many with original ductwork and HVAC units that are well past the 15-year mark. We see consistent patterns in those homes: undersized original equipment, flex duct that has degraded over the years, and systems that have been patched rather than replaced because the homeowner didn't know there was a better option.

In the newer master-planned communities that have expanded along 45 North and toward Georgetown, the homes are younger but the challenge is different. Volume builders sometimes install builder-grade equipment that wears faster than premium systems, and the large square footage of newer Round Rock homes demands proper system sizing from the start. Our technicians have worked throughout this city long enough to know what to look for in both the older established neighborhoods and the newer builds, and that familiarity shows up in the quality of every installation we do.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does HVAC replacement cost in Round Rock, TX?
A full HVAC system replacement in Round Rock typically runs between $5,000 and $12,000 depending on the size of the system, the efficiency rating of the equipment you choose, and whether the ductwork also needs work. Higher-efficiency systems with better SEER ratings cost more upfront but pay back over time in lower energy bills. Homes in the 2,000 to 2,500 square foot range — very common in Round Rock — usually fall in the middle of that range. The best way to get an accurate number is to have a technician assess your home so the system can be properly sized before any equipment is quoted.
How long does HVAC replacement take in Round Rock?
Most standard HVAC replacements in Round Rock can be completed in a single day, typically between four and eight hours depending on the complexity of the installation. Situations that take longer include homes where the ductwork also needs to be replaced or significantly modified, or cases where the equipment has to be ordered and isn't in stock locally. Once we've assessed your system and equipment is confirmed available, we'll give you a realistic timeline so you can plan accordingly. We do everything we can to minimize the time your home is without cooling, especially during summer months.
What HVAC brands do you install in Round Rock homes?
We work with several reputable manufacturers and recommend equipment based on what makes sense for your home and budget rather than pushing a single brand. The brands we install most frequently have strong dealer support networks, good parts availability, and solid warranty programs. When we assess your home, we'll explain the options we're recommending and why. One thing we always emphasize is that the quality of the installation matters just as much as the brand — a premium unit installed incorrectly will underperform compared to a mid-tier unit installed properly.
How do I know if I need HVAC replacement or just a repair in Round Rock?
The general rule of thumb is the 50 percent rule: if a repair is going to cost more than half the value of the existing unit, replacement usually makes more financial sense. Age is also a major factor — systems over 15 years old are typically close to end of life, and even if one component is repaired, another is likely to fail soon after. In Round Rock, where homes from the late 1980s and 1990s still have original equipment running, we see this situation regularly. A technician can assess the overall condition of your system and give you an honest read on whether repair or replacement is the better call for your specific situation.
What SEER rating should I get for a new HVAC system in Round Rock?
In Round Rock, where the cooling season runs roughly from April through October and summer temperatures regularly hit triple digits, investing in a higher-efficiency system pays off over time. The current federal minimum for new equipment is 14.3 SEER2, but many homeowners in this area choose systems in the 16 to 18 SEER2 range for better long-term energy savings. The payback period on a higher-efficiency unit versus a baseline model depends on how much you run your system, your current utility rates, and how long you plan to stay in the home. We can walk you through the math on efficiency tiers so you can make a decision that fits your priorities.
Do you offer any warranties on HVAC replacement in Round Rock?
New HVAC equipment comes with manufacturer warranties that typically cover parts for 5 to 10 years, with some manufacturers offering extended coverage on compressors or heat exchangers when the system is registered after installation. Labor warranties vary by installer. We handle warranty registration on your behalf after every installation and provide you with the documentation you need to make a claim if an issue comes up. Keeping up with annual maintenance is usually a requirement to keep manufacturer warranties valid, which is one reason we recommend starting a maintenance plan right after a new system is installed.
