About Our Emergency Plumbing Services in Round Rock

Round Rock has grown rapidly over the past few decades, which means its housing stock spans a wide range of ages and conditions. Homes built in the late 1980s and 1990s are now hitting the age where supply lines, shut-off valves, and drain systems start to fail without much warning. Meanwhile, newer construction in master-planned communities can come with its own quirks — undersized fixtures, builder-grade components, and plumbing layouts that weren't designed with long-term durability in mind. Whether your home is in an older established neighborhood near downtown Round Rock or a newer development off Toll 45, our team knows what to look for and how to fix it fast.

When you have water running where it shouldn't be or a drain backing up at the worst possible time, waiting is not an option. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air offers emergency plumbing services throughout Round Rock for both residential and light commercial properties. We arrive ready to diagnose the problem, explain exactly what needs to happen, and get your home back to normal. Round Rock homeowners are a research-driven crowd, and we think that's a good thing — the more you know about your plumbing, the more you'll appreciate a team that doesn't cut corners.

Emergency Plumbing Services We Provide in Round Rock

Burst and Leaking Pipe Repair

Pipes in Round Rock homes built in the 80s and 90s — especially those using polybutylene or early CPVC — are increasingly prone to sudden failures. A burst pipe can dump dozens of gallons into your walls or flooring in minutes. We locate the break fast, shut off the damage at the source, and make durable repairs that hold up to Central Texas conditions.

Clogged and Backed-Up Drains

With large households, hard water mineral buildup, and aging drain lines, clogs in Round Rock homes can go from slow to completely blocked fast. We use professional-grade equipment to clear the obstruction at the source — not just push it further down the line. Kitchen drains, bathroom drains, and main line clogs are all within our scope.

Learn More

Sewer Line Emergencies

Older Round Rock neighborhoods can have sewer lines that are aging, root-infiltrated, or simply worn out from decades of use. A sewer backup is one of the most urgent plumbing emergencies a homeowner can face, and delaying makes the damage worse. We assess the situation quickly and provide lasting solutions, from clearing blockages to full sewer line replacement when needed.

Learn More

Water Heater Failure

Nothing interrupts a household faster than a water heater that stops working — especially in a busy Round Rock home with multiple people relying on hot water each morning. We handle emergency water heater repairs and replacements for tank and tankless units, getting your hot water restored as quickly as possible.

Leak Detection

Some leaks are obvious. Others hide behind walls, under slabs, or inside ceilings for weeks before anyone notices — driving up your water bill and causing mold growth in the meantime. Our leak detection services use non-invasive technology to pinpoint the source without tearing apart your home unnecessarily.

Slab Leak Detection and Repair

Round Rock sits on the same limestone-heavy terrain as much of Central Texas, and slab-on-grade construction is the norm here. That means when a supply line under your foundation develops a pinhole leak, it can quietly erode the soil and compromise your slab for a long time before you see obvious signs. We detect and address slab leaks before they turn into structural problems.

Learn More

Overflowing Toilets and Sewage Backups

An overflowing toilet or sewage backup is not just an inconvenience — it's a health hazard that needs immediate attention. These situations often signal a deeper blockage in the drain or sewer line rather than a simple surface clog. Our team arrives prepared to handle the mess, clear the cause, and restore a safe, sanitary environment in your home.

Shut-Off Valve Failures

Aging shut-off valves are a common weak point in Round Rock homes that haven't been updated since original construction. When a supply line bursts and the shut-off valve won't close, a manageable situation becomes a major emergency. We repair or replace faulty shut-off valves quickly and can assess whether other valves in your home are at similar risk.

Garbage Disposal Repair

A seized or broken garbage disposal can knock out your kitchen sink and create a backed-up mess at exactly the wrong moment. We diagnose the issue on the spot — whether it's a jammed motor, a cracked housing, or a plumbing connection problem — and get your kitchen functional again quickly.

Water Line Repair and Replacement

Main water line problems can cut off your home's entire supply or cause major water loss underground before you even realize something is wrong. In Round Rock's established neighborhoods, aging galvanized or early plastic water lines are a real concern. We handle urgent water line repairs and full replacements with minimal disruption to your yard and landscaping.

Emergency Plumbing Inspections

Sometimes you know something is wrong but can't pinpoint exactly what — unusual sounds, unexplained wet spots, or a suddenly spiking water bill. Our emergency inspection service gives you a thorough evaluation of your plumbing system so you understand what's happening and what needs to be addressed before a small issue becomes a costly one.

We Know Round Rock Homes

Round Rock's housing stock is genuinely varied — you've got 1980s ranch homes in older sections near the historic downtown, 1990s and early 2000s subdivisions that are hitting the age where original plumbing starts showing wear, and newer master-planned communities where the finish work is fresh but the components are often builder-grade. I've worked on all of them, and the failure patterns are different in each era. Older homes may still have galvanized steel lines with heavy mineral buildup from Round Rock's notoriously hard water, while homes from the 90s can have polybutylene pipe that's been quietly degrading for years.

The hard water situation here is real — Round Rock's municipal water supply carries high calcium and magnesium content that accelerates wear on water heaters, corrodes fixture connections, and contributes to drain scale over time. Combine that with the large family households common in this community and the heavy daily demand they put on plumbing systems, and you have conditions that can turn a minor issue into an emergency faster than people expect. When you call Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air, you're getting a team that understands those conditions and comes ready to deal with them — not someone who's going to show up and figure it out on your time.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you respond to a plumbing emergency in Round Rock?
Response time depends on current demand and your location within Round Rock, but we prioritize emergency calls and aim to get a plumber to you as quickly as possible. When you call, give us the details of what's happening so we can send the right technician with the right equipment. While you wait, turn off the water supply to the affected area or the main shut-off if you're not sure where the problem is — this limits damage significantly. We serve all parts of Round Rock including neighborhoods along IH-35, US-79, and the newer developments on the east and west sides of town.
My water bill suddenly spiked but I can't find any visible leak. What should I do?
A sudden increase in your water bill without a change in usage almost always means you have a leak somewhere that isn't visible — common culprits include a running toilet flapper, a leaking supply line inside a wall, an underground water line issue, or a slab leak under your foundation. Round Rock's hard water can accelerate corrosion on older supply line fittings, making hidden leaks more common in homes built before 2000. Start by checking your toilets with a dye tablet test and listening for running water when all fixtures are off. If you can't find the source, a professional leak detection service uses non-invasive equipment to locate the problem without unnecessary demo work.
What does emergency plumbing typically cost in Round Rock?
Emergency plumbing costs vary widely depending on what needs to be done. A straightforward drain clearing or toilet repair might run in the low hundreds, while a burst pipe repair, slab leak, or water heater replacement can range from a few hundred to well over a thousand dollars depending on the extent of damage and materials needed. We provide upfront pricing after diagnosing the problem, so you know the full cost before we start. We don't charge wildly different rates for emergency calls compared to standard service — we believe you deserve honest pricing when you're already dealing with a stressful situation.
My house was built in the early 1990s in Round Rock. Are there specific plumbing issues I should watch for?
Homes built in Round Rock during the late 1980s through mid-1990s often used polybutylene pipe for supply lines, which has a well-documented history of becoming brittle and failing over time — if your home has this gray plastic piping, it's worth having it evaluated. Water heaters installed around that era are well past their typical 10 to 15 year lifespan and should be replaced proactively if they haven't been already. Round Rock's hard water also accelerates mineral buildup inside water heaters, which reduces efficiency and shortens their life. Shut-off valves, supply line hoses, and drain lines in these homes are all approaching the age where they can fail without much warning, so a plumbing inspection is a smart investment.
How do I know if I have a slab leak in my Round Rock home?
Common signs of a slab leak include warm or hot spots on your floor, the sound of running water when all fixtures are off, unexplained increases in your water bill, cracks appearing in floors or walls, and moisture or mildew smell coming from your flooring. Round Rock homes built on slab foundations are susceptible to this issue, especially when older copper lines under the slab develop pinhole leaks from years of hard water exposure and soil movement. Slab leaks should be addressed promptly — the longer they go undetected, the more damage they cause to the foundation and surrounding structure. Professional leak detection can locate the problem precisely, which minimizes how much work is needed to access and repair it.
Can I use store-bought drain cleaners to handle a plumbing emergency?
Chemical drain cleaners can sometimes help with very minor, surface-level clogs, but they are not appropriate for emergency situations and can actually make things worse. If you have a full blockage, sewage backup, or a clog deep in your drain or sewer line, chemical cleaners won't reach the problem and may corrode your pipes — particularly older pipes common in Round Rock homes built before 2000. For a true plumbing emergency, the fastest and safest path is to call a professional who can diagnose the actual cause and clear it properly. Using chemical cleaners before a plumber arrives can also create a safety hazard for the technician working on the line.
