About Our Drain Cleaning in Round Rock

Round Rock homeowners tend to do their homework before hiring anyone, and we respect that. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air has been serving the greater Austin area long enough to know what Round Rock drains are dealing with: hard water mineral buildup, root intrusion in the older established neighborhoods, and grease accumulation in high-use kitchens. We use professional hydro-jetting and drain snake equipment to actually solve the problem, not just push it further down the line.

We also know that in a community this size, word travels fast. Our reputation is built on showing up on time, explaining exactly what we find, and charging what we quoted. If a drain cleaning reveals a deeper sewer issue, we'll tell you straight — along with your options and honest pricing before any additional work begins.

Drain Cleaning Services We Provide in Round Rock

Kitchen Drain Cleaning

Grease, food particles, and soap scum accumulate quickly in kitchen drains, especially in busy Round Rock households. We clear the full line — not just the trap — so buildup doesn't return within weeks. If your kitchen sink is draining slowly or backing up entirely, we'll get it flowing again fast.

Bathroom Drain Cleaning

Hair, soap residue, and toothpaste buildup are the top culprits behind slow bathroom drains in Round Rock homes. Our technicians clear shower, tub, and sink drains thoroughly using the right tools for the pipe material and condition. Older homes in Round Rock may have galvanized or cast iron pipes that require a more careful approach.

Learn More

Main Line Drain Cleaning

A sluggish main sewer line affects every drain in your home simultaneously. In Round Rock neighborhoods with mature tree canopies, root intrusion into main lines is a common and serious issue. We use professional-grade equipment to clear the full main line and inspect for damage before wrapping up.

Learn More

Hydro-Jetting

Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the interior walls of your pipes, removing years of grease, scale, and mineral buildup. Round Rock's notoriously hard water leaves calcium and lime deposits inside pipes over time, and hydro-jetting is the most effective way to restore full flow capacity. It's especially useful in older homes where buildup has been accumulating for decades.

Sewer Line Cleaning

Your sewer line is the main artery of your home's plumbing system, and a blockage there causes problems fast. We clean sewer lines in Round Rock homes using both mechanical snaking and hydro-jetting, depending on what the line needs. Regular sewer line cleaning can prevent costly backups and extend the life of your sewer system.

Learn More

Floor Drain Cleaning

Floor drains in garages, laundry rooms, and utility areas are often neglected until they back up during heavy rain or a washing machine cycle. Round Rock gets significant rain events that can overwhelm drains that haven't been maintained. We clear floor drains quickly and check the trap to make sure it's functioning properly.

Learn More

Garbage Disposal Drain Cleaning

A garbage disposal that drains slowly or backs up into the other sink basin is a sign that the drain line beneath it is clogged — not necessarily that the disposal itself is failing. We clear the disposal drain line and check the connection points to make sure everything is flowing freely. This is one of the most common kitchen complaints we see in Round Rock homes.

Learn More

Root Intrusion Removal

Round Rock's established neighborhoods — particularly those built in the 1980s and 1990s — have mature trees whose roots actively seek out moisture in underground sewer and drain lines. Root intrusion can cause partial or complete blockages and, if left untreated, pipe damage. We remove roots mechanically and advise on whether a pipe inspection or sewer line repair is warranted.

Learn More

Drain Camera Inspection

When a clog keeps coming back or a drain isn't flowing right after cleaning, a camera inspection tells us exactly what's happening inside the pipe. We run a high-definition camera through the line to identify cracks, root intrusion, offset joints, or buildup that needs a different approach. It's the smartest way to diagnose a persistent drain problem in any Round Rock home.

Learn More

Sewer Line Replacement

Sometimes a drain problem is a symptom of a sewer line that's deteriorated beyond cleaning. Older Round Rock homes may have original clay or cast iron sewer lines that have cracked, collapsed, or been overtaken by roots. When replacement is the right call, we handle it from start to finish with upfront pricing and minimal disruption to your yard.

Emergency Drain Cleaning

A backed-up drain doesn't care what time it is — and neither do we. If you've got sewage backing up into a tub, a flooded laundry room, or a drain that's completely stopped, we offer emergency service for Round Rock homeowners. We'll get there fast, diagnose the problem, and clear it so you can get back to normal.

We Know Round Rock Homes

Round Rock has housing stock spanning four decades, and that range matters when you're doing plumbing work. Homes built in the 1980s and early 1990s in neighborhoods like Brushy Creek and Round Rock West may still have original cast iron or galvanized drain lines that are corroded, scaled, or starting to fail. Newer construction in the Dell Ranch or Teravista areas uses PVC throughout, but those homes have their own quirks — namely that grading and settling issues in newer subdivisions can cause drainage problems that look like clogs but are actually slope or connection problems.

Round Rock's hard water is one of the biggest contributors to drain slowdowns we see on service calls here. The calcium and mineral content in this area's water supply builds up inside pipes year after year, narrowing the effective diameter of the line until even normal use causes backups. Combine that with the city's mature tree populations in older neighborhoods, and root intrusion becomes a real and recurring concern. We've worked in enough Round Rock homes to know which neighborhoods need extra attention and which problems are most likely to be lurking before we even pull the drain snake out of the truck.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does drain cleaning cost in Round Rock?
Most standard drain cleanings in Round Rock run between $150 and $350 depending on the drain location and how severe the clog is. A simple bathroom sink or tub clog on the low end, a full main line clearing with a snake on the higher end. Hydro-jetting, which is used for heavy grease or mineral buildup, typically costs more and is quoted separately after an initial inspection. We always give you a price before we start so there are no surprises when the job is done.
Why do my drains keep clogging even after I've had them cleaned?
Recurring clogs usually point to one of a few causes: a partial blockage that was never fully cleared, root intrusion that keeps growing back, or heavy mineral scale from Round Rock's hard water that coats the inside of pipes over time. If a drain is clogging repeatedly within weeks of being cleaned, a camera inspection is usually the best next step to find out what's actually happening inside the line. In some cases, the pipe itself has deteriorated and needs repair or replacement rather than just cleaning.
Can I use chemical drain cleaners instead of calling a plumber?
Chemical drain cleaners can dissolve minor organic clogs, but they have real downsides. They're hard on pipes, especially older cast iron or galvanized lines that are common in 1980s and 1990s Round Rock homes, and they rarely clear a clog completely. The chemicals can also damage PVC if used repeatedly. More importantly, they don't fix root intrusion, scale buildup, or structural pipe issues — they just temporarily open a small path through the blockage. For anything more than an occasional minor slow drain, a professional cleaning does a much better and safer job.
How long does a drain cleaning service take?
A typical single-drain cleaning takes about 45 minutes to an hour from arrival to completion. A main line cleaning or hydro-jetting job can take one to two hours depending on how long the line is and how severe the buildup is. If we find something during the service that warrants a camera inspection, that adds some time but gives you a complete picture of what's going on. We'll always let you know upfront if we expect the job to run longer than the standard timeframe.
What's the difference between drain snaking and hydro-jetting?
A drain snake uses a rotating metal cable to physically break through or pull out a clog. It's effective for most blockages and is the right tool for the majority of drain cleaning jobs. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water — typically 3,000 to 4,000 PSI — to scour the entire interior surface of the pipe, removing grease, scale, mineral deposits, and even small root tendrils. Hydro-jetting is more thorough but not always necessary. In Round Rock, where hard water scale is a significant issue, hydro-jetting is often recommended for kitchen drain lines and main lines that have gone a long time without service.
Do tree roots really cause drain problems in Round Rock neighborhoods?
Yes, and it's more common than most homeowners expect. Tree roots naturally grow toward moisture, and even small cracks or loose joints in underground drain and sewer lines provide enough of an entry point for roots to work their way in over time. In older Round Rock neighborhoods where trees have had 30 to 40 years to mature, this is one of the most frequent causes of persistent main line drainage problems. Root intrusion usually starts as a slow drain or occasional gurgling and progresses to full blockages if it's not addressed. A camera inspection is the only reliable way to confirm whether roots are the cause.
