About Our Plumbing Services in Dripping Springs

Dripping Springs homes come with their own set of plumbing demands that a cookie-cutter plumbing company just isn't equipped to handle. Between well water systems that put extra stress on fixtures and pipes, septic systems that require careful coordination, and custom-built homes with unique layouts, there's a lot that can go wrong if the person doing the work doesn't have the right experience. Our team has worked on everything from newer custom builds off RR 12 to older ranch properties that haven't had a plumbing update in decades. We know what to look for and how to fix it properly the first time.

We also understand that when you live this far out, a plumber who doesn't show up or can't finish the job in one trip costs you more than just money. That's why we come fully stocked, communicate clearly about what we find, and treat your property with the same care we'd want for our own. Whether you're dealing with a water pressure problem from a struggling well pump, a slow drain that's been ignored too long, or a water heater that finally gave out, Cold is on the Right is the team Dripping Springs residents can count on.

Drain Cleaning

Hard water and mineral buildup from well systems can accelerate drain clogs and pipe scaling in Dripping Springs homes. Our drain cleaning service clears out blockages completely, not just temporarily, using professional-grade equipment. Regular drain cleaning is one of the best ways to protect older pipes and avoid bigger problems down the road.

Water Softeners

Well water in the Dripping Springs area is notoriously hard, loaded with calcium and magnesium that scale up pipes, ruin water heaters faster, and leaves buildup on fixtures. A properly sized water softener protects your entire plumbing system and makes a noticeable difference in water quality throughout the house. We size, install, and service water softeners specifically for the water conditions common to this part of Travis and Hays County.

Water Filters and Filtration

Many Dripping Springs residents rely on private wells, and well water quality can vary significantly by property and season. We install whole-home and point-of-use water filtration systems that address common issues like sediment, sulfur odor, bacteria, and chemical contamination. Clean, safe water at every tap starts with the right filtration setup for your specific water source.

Water Heater Services

Hard well water shortens the life of water heaters significantly, and when yours fails out here, waiting days for hot water isn't an option. We install, repair, and replace water heaters for Dripping Springs homes, helping you choose the right size and type for your household and your water source. Whether you need a same-day repair or a full replacement, we carry the inventory to get your hot water back fast.

Tankless Water Heater Installation

Tankless water heaters are a smart upgrade for custom homes in Dripping Springs, especially on properties where energy efficiency and space savings matter. We install and service tankless systems from leading brands, properly sizing them for your home's demand and your well water chemistry. A well-matched tankless unit delivers endless hot water without the ongoing cost of keeping a tank heated around the clock.

Leak Detection

Hidden leaks are a serious concern on larger Dripping Springs properties where supply lines run long distances and may pass through areas that aren't easily visible. We use advanced leak detection equipment to find leaks behind walls, under slabs, and out in the yard without unnecessary digging or damage. Catching a leak early out here can save thousands in water loss, structural damage, and landscaping repair.

Learn More

Slab Leak Detection

Custom homes built on concrete slabs in the Hill Country are susceptible to slab leaks, particularly as the ground shifts with seasonal dry and wet cycles. Slab leaks often go undetected for months while quietly damaging your foundation and spiking your water usage. Our slab leak detection service pinpoints the exact location so repairs are targeted and minimally invasive.

Learn More

Whole House Repiping

Older ranch homes and properties that have changed hands several times in Dripping Springs sometimes have aging galvanized or polybutylene pipes that are well past their service life. Whole house repiping replaces failing pipes throughout the home with modern, durable materials that won't corrode, scale, or crack. It's a significant job, but our team handles it efficiently and with minimal disruption to your household.

Learn More

Sewer Line Replacement

Dripping Springs properties on septic systems require a different approach to sewer line work than city-connected homes, and we have the experience to handle both. Tree roots, shifting soil, and aging materials can all compromise sewer lines on rural and semi-rural properties. We assess the full condition of your sewer line and replace what needs replacing with durable materials that hold up to Hill Country ground conditions.

Signs You Need Plumbing Services in Dripping Springs

  • Water pressure has dropped noticeably at your faucets, showers, or hose bibs, which on a well system can signal pump issues, pressure tank problems, or a developing leak.
  • Your water has a sulfur smell, cloudy appearance, or unusual taste, especially common with well water that hasn't been tested or filtered recently.
  • Drains in your sinks, showers, or tubs are draining slowly or gurgling, which often points to buildup from hard water or a deeper blockage in the line.
  • You've noticed unexplained wet spots in your yard, soggy areas near your septic system, or unusually lush patches of grass that could indicate a leaking underground line.
  • Your water heater is making popping or rumbling noises, producing rusty water, or simply not keeping up with your household's hot water demand.
  • Water stains are appearing on ceilings, walls, or around the base of your slab, which may indicate a hidden leak that's been going on longer than you realize.
  • Your water bill has climbed without a clear reason, pointing to a possible hidden leak somewhere in your supply lines or fixtures.

We Know Dripping Springs Homes

The homes we work on in Dripping Springs run the full spectrum: newer custom builds on large wooded lots, older ranch-style properties that have been in families for generations, and everything in between. The custom homes often have longer pipe runs, multiple water heaters, and unique layouts that require a plumber who can think through the whole system rather than just the symptom in front of them. The older properties come with their own challenges, including aging galvanized pipes, pressure tanks that are overdue for replacement, and septic systems that need careful coordination whenever we're doing drain or sewer work.

Hard well water is probably the single biggest factor shaping plumbing outcomes in this community. It accelerates corrosion inside water heaters, scales up supply lines, and shortens the life of fixtures faster than most homeowners realize. Combine that with the ground movement that comes with Hill Country soil conditions during dry summers and wet springs, and you have a recipe for slab leaks and pipe stress that requires real local knowledge to diagnose correctly. When you call Cold is on the Right, you're getting a team that has seen these patterns on Dripping Springs properties firsthand and knows how to fix them properly.

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work on homes with well water and septic systems in Dripping Springs?
Yes, and it's something we do regularly out here. A significant number of Dripping Springs properties rely on private wells and septic systems rather than city utilities, and we're experienced with both. Well water systems add complexity to plumbing work because water pressure, quality, and volume all depend on equipment that needs its own attention. When we work on homes with septic systems, we coordinate carefully to make sure drain and sewer work doesn't create problems downstream. If you're not sure what type of system your property has or whether it's performing correctly, we can assess that as part of our visit.
Do you work on homes with well water and septic systems in Dripping Springs?
Inconsistent water pressure in a Dripping Springs home can have several causes, and the answer often depends on whether you're on city water or a well. On well systems, low pressure at specific fixtures can indicate a failing pressure tank, a struggling pump, or a partially closed valve somewhere in the supply line. If you're on city water, the more likely culprits are mineral buildup inside the pipes themselves, especially given the hard water common in this area, or a partially closed shutoff valve. A single fixture with low pressure usually points to a clogged aerator or cartridge, while whole-house low pressure suggests something further up the supply system. We can diagnose the specific cause during a service call and give you a clear recommendation.
How long do water heaters typically last in Dripping Springs given the hard well water?
In most parts of the country, a tank water heater lasts 10 to 12 years under normal conditions. In Dripping Springs, where well water is high in calcium and magnesium, that lifespan can be cut to 6 to 8 years without proper water treatment. The minerals settle at the bottom of the tank, cause the popping and rumbling sounds you may have heard, and accelerate corrosion from the inside out. Annual flushing and anode rod replacement can extend the life of your unit, but the most effective protection is pairing your water heater with a water softener. Tankless water heaters are also worth considering since they don't store water and are less prone to tank-related mineral damage, though they still benefit from a softener on hard water systems.
What are the signs of a slab leak in a Hill Country home?
Slab leaks can be tricky to identify because the pipe is buried under your concrete foundation, but there are reliable warning signs to watch for. Unexplained increases in your water bill are often the first clue, followed by warm or wet spots on your floor, the sound of running water when everything is turned off, or cracks developing in your flooring or baseboards. In Dripping Springs, the Hill Country's clay and limestone soil expands and contracts significantly with seasonal rain and drought cycles, which puts stress on slab-embedded pipes and makes slab leaks more common than in other areas. If you suspect one, don't wait. A slab leak left unaddressed can compromise your foundation over time. We use electronic and acoustic detection equipment to find the leak precisely before any work begins.
Should I install a water softener at my Dripping Springs home?
For most Dripping Springs homeowners on well water, a water softener is one of the best investments you can make for your plumbing system. Hard water causes scale buildup inside pipes and water heaters, wears out fixtures faster, and leaves residue on dishes, glassware, and shower surfaces. The water hardness in this area of Hays County is consistently high enough that softened water will make a noticeable difference in everyday use. We size water softeners based on your household water usage and your specific water hardness level, which we can test during a service visit. A properly sized and installed softener pays for itself over time through reduced water heater wear, longer fixture life, and lower soap and detergent costs.
How quickly can you get to a property in Dripping Springs for a plumbing emergency?
We serve Dripping Springs as a primary service area, so we're not routing calls through a distant dispatch center that treats your location as a long drive. Response times for emergency calls depend on the time of day and current demand, but we prioritize true emergencies like burst pipes, sewage backups, and complete loss of water. When you call to report an emergency, we'll give you an honest estimate of our arrival time rather than a vague window. We also come fully stocked for the most common emergency scenarios so we're not making extra trips or leaving a job unfinished because we're missing a part. Contact us and we'll get someone headed your way as quickly as possible.
