About Our Emergency Plumbing in Dripping Springs

Dripping Springs is a community of custom-built homes, sprawling ranches, and newer subdivisions — and the plumbing challenges here aren't always the same as what you'll find inside the Austin city limits. Many properties in the area rely on private wells and septic systems, which means a pressure loss or backup isn't just an inconvenience — it's a complete loss of water or sanitation until someone fixes it. Our emergency plumbers understand the equipment and infrastructure specific to rural and semi-rural Hill Country properties, including pressure tanks, well pumps, and septic tie-ins.

We also know that when your home sits on several acres and the nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away, you need a plumber you can trust to show up, not one that treats your address like it's out of the way. Cold is on the Right serves Dripping Springs directly, and our team is familiar with the types of homes built here — from older ranch-style builds with galvanized or cast iron piping to newer Hill Country custom homes with complex plumbing layouts. Whatever the emergency, we come prepared.

Emergency Plumbing Services We Provide in Dripping Springs

Burst and Leaking Pipe Repair

Temperature swings in the Hill Country — from summer heat to surprise winter freezes — put real stress on pipes, especially in older ranch homes and properties with exposed supply lines. A burst pipe on an acreage lot can dump hundreds of gallons before it's even noticed. We locate the break fast and make a lasting repair so you're not losing water or dealing with structural damage.

Well Pump and Pressure System Failures

When your home is on a private well, a pump failure means zero water — no faucets, no toilets, no showers. We diagnose pressure tank issues, failed well pumps, and loss-of-pressure situations that are common across Dripping Springs properties. Getting your water supply restored quickly is the priority, and we know what to look for on rural systems.

Learn More

Clogged and Backed-Up Drains

Stubborn drain clogs can stop your household in its tracks, and in homes on septic systems, a backup is an especially urgent problem. We clear blockages in kitchen drains, bathroom drains, and main lines using professional equipment that won't damage your pipes. Whether it's grease buildup, organic matter, or a deeper obstruction, we get the flow restored.

Sewer Line Emergencies

Properties in Dripping Springs that connect to municipal sewer lines — as well as those transitioning from septic — can experience sewer line failures that create serious health and sanitation hazards. Tree roots, ground shifting, and aging pipes all contribute to line collapses or blockages. We assess the situation, identify the damage, and move quickly on repairs or replacement.

Water Heater Failure

A water heater that quits in the middle of winter, or one that starts leaking onto a garage or utility room floor, is a genuine emergency. We repair and replace both traditional tank water heaters and tankless units, which are common in newer custom builds throughout Dripping Springs. We'll restore your hot water the same day in most situations.

Leak Detection

Leaks hidden inside walls, under slabs, or beneath a large property footprint can go undetected for weeks, quietly driving up water use and causing structural damage. Well-fed homes don't get a water bill to tip them off — the first sign may be soggy ground or a failing pressure reading. Our leak detection equipment pinpoints the source without unnecessary demolition.

Slab Leak Detection and Repair

Many of the custom homes built in Dripping Springs over the past two decades sit on slab foundations, and a slab leak left unaddressed will damage flooring, undermine the foundation, and lead to mold growth. We use non-invasive detection methods to find exactly where the leak is before any concrete is touched, saving you time, money, and unnecessary disruption.

Overflowing Toilets

An overflowing toilet in any home is an urgent problem, but in a household on a septic system, it can signal something more serious — a full tank, a blocked drain field, or a failed lateral line. We address the immediate issue and help you understand whether the problem is isolated to the fixture or connected to your broader septic or drain system.

Frozen or Damaged Outdoor Plumbing

Hill Country winters can deliver hard freezes that catch homeowners off guard, and properties with long irrigation runs, exposed hose bibs, or pipes running through uninsulated outbuildings are especially vulnerable. We repair freeze damage quickly and can advise on protection measures to prevent it from happening again next season.

Gas Line Emergencies

Many Dripping Springs homes rely on propane for cooking, heating, and water heating — and a gas line issue is never something to leave for later. If you smell gas or suspect a leak, evacuate and call immediately. We handle emergency propane and natural gas line inspections and repairs for residential properties throughout the area.

Water Line Breaks and Supply Issues

A broken main water line on an acreage lot can be difficult to locate and even harder to repair without the right equipment. Whether the break is near the meter, midway down a long run to the house, or at the foundation entry point, we locate it and restore your supply. We work on both municipal-connected and well-fed supply lines throughout Dripping Springs.

We Know Dripping Springs Homes

Dripping Springs has grown quickly, but it hasn't lost its Hill Country character — and the homes here reflect that mix. You'll find older ranch-style properties with galvanized supply lines and fixtures that haven't been touched in decades sitting not far from brand-new custom builds with high-end finishes and complex plumbing layouts. That range means our technicians need to be comfortable diagnosing aging pipe systems as readily as they are troubleshooting a modern tankless water heater or a multi-zone irrigation setup on a large lot.

The well water and septic systems common throughout the Dripping Springs area add another layer of complexity that you won't encounter as often closer to Austin. Hard water from private wells accelerates scale buildup in pipes and water heaters, and septic systems require a different diagnostic approach when drain problems arise. We've worked on enough Hill Country properties to know what to look for — and we're not going to treat your acreage home like a standard subdivision call.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you respond to emergency plumbing calls in Dripping Springs even though it's outside Austin?
Yes, we serve Dripping Springs directly and it's part of our regular service area — not an afterthought. We make the drive out to Hill Country properties, including homes on acreage lots and rural roads. When you call, let us know your address and we'll give you an honest arrival estimate based on where our nearest available technician is located.
Do you respond to emergency plumbing calls in Dripping Springs even though it's outside Austin?
Absolutely. A sudden loss of pressure on a well-fed home usually points to a failed well pump, a waterlogged or failed pressure tank, or a break in the supply line between the well and the house. Unlike a city-connected home where a shutoff is nearby, a well system failure leaves you completely without water until the source is diagnosed and repaired. This should be treated as an emergency, especially if you have children or livestock on the property.
How do I know if my plumbing issue is a septic problem or a drain problem?
The two can be hard to tell apart from inside the house. If only one drain is slow or backing up, the problem is likely localized to that fixture or a nearby section of pipe. If multiple drains are sluggish or backing up at the same time — especially toilets — the issue is probably further down the line and could involve the septic tank, a blocked outlet baffle, or a failing drain field. Sewage odors outside near the tank or wet, spongy ground over the drain field are strong indicators the septic system itself needs attention.
What should I do while waiting for an emergency plumber to arrive?
The most important thing is to stop water from continuing to flow if possible. Locate your main shutoff valve — on well systems it's typically near the pressure tank — and close it if you're dealing with a burst pipe, major leak, or flooding. For toilet overflows, the shutoff is behind or beneath the toilet. If you suspect a gas leak, don't touch any switches or appliances — just get everyone out of the house and call from outside. Once you've taken those steps, leave the area affected as undisturbed as possible so our technician can assess it accurately.
How much does emergency plumbing cost in Dripping Springs?
Emergency plumbing costs vary depending on the type of repair, access to the problem, and the parts required. Simple repairs like a leaking shutoff valve or a clogged drain might run a few hundred dollars, while more complex jobs like a well pump replacement, slab leak repair, or sewer line work can range from $1,000 to several thousand dollars. We give you a clear, upfront price after diagnosing the problem — before any work begins — so there are no surprises on the final invoice.
The water from my well has been leaving scale buildup in my fixtures. Does that affect my plumbing system?
Hard water from private wells is very common in the Dripping Springs area, and yes — it does affect your plumbing over time. Mineral scale builds up inside supply lines, reducing flow and eventually causing pinhole leaks in copper pipe. It also accumulates in water heater tanks, shortening their lifespan and reducing efficiency. Tankless water heaters are particularly sensitive to scale buildup and should be flushed annually in areas with hard well water. A whole-home water softener or filtration system can significantly reduce the wear on your pipes and fixtures.
