About Our Water Softeners in Cedar Park

Cedar Park has grown fast, and that growth means a wide range of home ages and plumbing systems across the city. In newer developments like Twin Creeks or Buttercup Creek, brand-new pipes and appliances are already being hit with the high calcium and magnesium levels that define this part of the Hill Country water supply. In neighborhoods that have been here for 15 to 20 years, those minerals have had time to accumulate inside pipe walls, water heaters, and dishwashers — shortening the lifespan of equipment that should last much longer. A properly sized water softener cuts that mineral load before it can do further damage.

At Cold is on the Right, we work across all of Cedar Park's neighborhoods, so we understand how water quality and home age interact in this community. Families in Cedar Park tend to use a lot of water, and high household demand means your water softener needs to be sized correctly from the start. We don't sell you a system that's too small to keep up or too large to run efficiently. We test your water, assess your home's size and usage, and recommend a solution that fits the way your household actually lives.

Water Softener Services We Provide in Cedar Park

Water Quality Testing

Before recommending any system, we test your Cedar Park home's water supply for hardness levels, mineral content, and other factors affecting quality. This gives you a clear, honest picture of what's actually in your water rather than a guess. It's the foundation of everything we do.

Water Softener Installation

We install whole-house ion exchange water softeners sized to handle Cedar Park's high-mineral water and the demands of busy family households. Our plumbers handle every step of the installation, from the brine tank setup to the connections with your existing plumbing. You get softened water throughout your home from day one.

Water Softener Replacement

If your current softener is more than 10 to 15 years old, it may be struggling to keep up with Cedar Park's hard water. We remove and replace aging units with modern, more efficient systems that are better matched to your home's current size and water usage. Older Cedar Park neighborhoods often have systems that were undersized from the start and are overdue for an upgrade.

Water Softener Repair and Servicing

When your softener stops regenerating properly, runs out of salt faster than expected, or starts letting hard water through, we diagnose and repair the issue quickly. Cedar Park families rely on their softeners daily, so we treat repairs with the same urgency as any other plumbing call. We service all major brands and system types.

Salt-Based Ion Exchange Systems

Salt-based softeners are the most effective solution for Cedar Park's mineral-heavy city water, using ion exchange to swap calcium and magnesium for sodium. This is the standard we recommend for most homes because it delivers consistent results and protects your plumbing and appliances over the long term. We source high-quality equipment and install it to manufacturer specifications.

Salt-Free Water Conditioners

For Cedar Park homeowners who want to reduce scale buildup without adding sodium to their water, salt-free conditioners are a solid alternative. These systems don't remove minerals but change how they behave, preventing them from sticking to pipe walls and fixtures. They're a good fit for smaller households or homeowners with specific dietary or environmental preferences.

Whole-House Water Filtration

Cedar Park's municipal water supply is treated, but many homeowners still notice chlorine taste, odor, or other water quality concerns that a softener alone won't resolve. Whole-house filtration systems work alongside your water softener to address these issues at the point the water enters your home. The result is cleaner, better-tasting water from every tap.

Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Systems

If softened water is handling the plumbing and appliances but you still want the cleanest possible water at your kitchen tap, a reverse osmosis system is the next step. These under-sink units filter water to a very high standard, removing contaminants a softener isn't designed to catch. Plenty of Cedar Park families run both systems in tandem for complete water treatment.

Water Heater Protection and Maintenance

Sediment from hard water accumulates at the bottom of water heaters faster than most homeowners realize, and Cedar Park's mineral content accelerates that process. Installing a water softener significantly reduces the sediment load on your water heater and extends its service life. If your water heater is already affected, we can assess its condition and recommend the right combination of solutions.

Brine Tank Cleaning and Salt Refills

A water softener is only as effective as the brine tank feeding it, and over time salt bridges and mushing can develop and reduce system performance. We offer brine tank cleaning and maintenance visits to keep your system regenerating properly. This is especially important in Cedar Park's climate, where heat can affect how salt behaves inside the tank.

New Construction Water Softener Setup

Cedar Park's ongoing development means plenty of new homes going up every year, and new construction is the perfect time to get a water softener installed before hard water minerals ever get a chance to accumulate. We work with homeowners moving into new builds to spec and install the right system before move-in. Starting with softened water from day one protects your brand-new plumbing and appliances from the beginning.

We Know Cedar Park Homes

Cedar Park is one of the fastest-growing cities in Central Texas, and that growth shows up in the variety of homes we work on every week. Newer subdivisions near 183A and Brushy Creek have modern plumbing, but even brand-new pipes take a beating from the area's naturally hard water if there's no softener in place. In neighborhoods that were built 15 to 20 years ago, we often find that original water heaters and supply lines are already showing the effects of years of mineral accumulation, sometimes quietly failing in ways homeowners haven't connected to water quality yet.

Cedar Park is also a city of large families and high daily water use, which means undersized or poorly maintained softeners get overwhelmed faster than they would in smaller households. We've seen enough Cedar Park homes to know what a typical system in this part of Williamson County faces day to day, and we size and configure our recommendations based on that real-world experience. If you're in a new build or a home that's been here since the early 2000s, we know what to look for and how to solve it the right way.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is the water in Cedar Park, TX?
Cedar Park's water comes primarily from surface water sources managed by the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District and the City of Cedar Park, and it tends to run moderately to very hard, often in the range of 15 to 25 grains per gallon depending on your neighborhood and the time of year. Water that hard causes visible scale buildup on fixtures, reduces appliance efficiency, and shortens the service life of your water heater and other plumbing equipment. A water quality test is the most accurate way to know exactly what your specific home is dealing with. Once we have that number, we can recommend a system sized to handle your actual hardness level.
How much does a water softener installation cost in Cedar Park?
The cost of a water softener installation in Cedar Park typically ranges from around $1,000 to $3,000 or more, depending on the size of your home, your water hardness level, and the type of system you choose. Larger homes with higher daily water demand require a bigger unit with a higher capacity, which affects the equipment cost. Salt-based ion exchange systems are the most common choice for Cedar Park's water and tend to fall in the mid range of that estimate. We provide upfront quotes before any work begins so you know exactly what you're paying before we pick up a wrench.
How long does a water softener installation take?
Most water softener installations in Cedar Park can be completed in a single visit, typically taking between two and four hours depending on where the system is being installed and the complexity of your plumbing setup. Homes in newer Cedar Park subdivisions with accessible utility areas often go faster, while older homes with tighter mechanical rooms or more complex plumbing configurations may take a bit longer. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we come out for the initial assessment so you can plan your day accordingly. Once the system is installed and tested, you'll have softened water throughout your home immediately.
Does a water softener need regular maintenance?
Yes, a water softener requires some ongoing maintenance to keep working properly. The most routine task is adding salt to the brine tank, which for a typical Cedar Park family home may need to happen every four to eight weeks depending on system size and household water use. Over time, salt bridges or mushing can develop inside the brine tank and reduce the system's ability to regenerate, so it's worth inspecting the tank periodically. We also recommend a professional service visit every year or two to check the resin bed, clean the brine tank, and make sure the regeneration cycle is programmed correctly for your current water conditions.
Will a water softener affect my water pressure?
A properly sized and correctly installed water softener should not cause any noticeable drop in water pressure in your Cedar Park home. In fact, over time a softener can actually help maintain pressure by preventing mineral scale from building up inside your pipes and restricting flow. If you do notice reduced pressure after installation, that's a sign something may be off with the system configuration or that an existing plumbing issue was already present. We test water flow before and after installation to make sure everything is working as it should.
