Water Filters & Filtration in Cedar Park, TX

Cedar Park's water works hard — your filtration system should too.

Cedar Park pulls its water from the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District and other local providers, and if you've lived here long enough, you already know what that means: hard water, mineral buildup, and sometimes a distinct taste or smell coming out of the tap. Whether you're in a newer development off 1890 Ranch or an established neighborhood that's been here since the early 2000s, the water quality issues are real. Cold is on the Right installs whole-home filtration systems, under-sink filters, and reverse osmosis units so your family gets genuinely clean water from every fixture in the house.

About Our Water Filters & Filtration in Cedar Park

Cedar Park has grown fast — really fast — and that growth means a wide mix of homes with different plumbing setups, pipe materials, and water supply sources. Newer builds in areas like Buttercup Creek or Twin Creeks often come with builder-grade fixtures and no filtration at all, leaving families to deal with hard water and chlorine taste from day one. Older homes in the 10-20 year range may have accumulated years of mineral scale inside pipes and water heaters, compounding the problem. Cold is on the Right knows this community and knows how to match the right filtration solution to each home's specific setup.

We're not here to sell you a filtration system you don't need. When you call us, we start with an honest conversation about your water, your home, and what's actually going on. We carry and install trusted filtration systems for every budget, and we back our work with upfront pricing so there are no surprises on your bill. From a simple faucet filter upgrade to a full whole-home system with sediment, carbon, and reverse osmosis stages, we'll get it done right the first time.

Water Filtration Services We Provide in Cedar Park

Whole-Home Water Filtration Systems

A whole-home filter connects at your main water line so every tap, shower, and appliance in your Cedar Park house gets filtered water. This is the most comprehensive solution for families dealing with sediment, chlorine, or general water quality concerns. We size and install the right system for your home's flow rate and water usage.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems

Reverse osmosis systems deliver the purest drinking water available by pushing water through a semipermeable membrane that removes dissolved solids, heavy metals, and contaminants. These are especially popular in Cedar Park homes where the tap water has a noticeable taste or odor. We install RO units under the kitchen sink and can connect them to your refrigerator line as well.

Under-Sink Water Filters

Under-sink filters are a targeted, cost-effective option for Cedar Park families who want clean drinking and cooking water without filtering the entire home. They fit neatly in your cabinet and connect directly to a dedicated faucet or your existing tap. We'll find the right fit for your cabinet space and plumbing configuration.

Sediment Filters

Cedar Park's water supply can carry fine sediment particles that wear down appliances and clog fixtures over time. A sediment pre-filter is often the first stage in any whole-home filtration setup and is critical for homes with older pipes that may shed debris. We install and replace sediment filter cartridges and housings for lasting protection.

Carbon & Activated Carbon Filters

Activated carbon filters are highly effective at removing chlorine, chloramines, and the off-tastes and odors that Cedar Park municipal water is known for. They can be installed as standalone units or as part of a multi-stage whole-home system. We'll help you choose the right carbon filter media based on what's actually in your water.

Water Softener Integration

In Cedar Park, hard water is one of the most common complaints homeowners bring to us. While water softeners and filtration systems solve different problems, they work best together — a filtration system removes contaminants while a water softener handles mineral hardness. We install and integrate both systems so your plumbing, appliances, and skin all benefit.

Filter System Maintenance & Cartridge Replacement

A water filter that hasn't been serviced is often worse than no filter at all, as clogged or expired cartridges can actually release trapped contaminants back into your water. We offer scheduled maintenance visits to inspect, flush, and replace filter media across all major brands and system types. Cedar Park homeowners count on us to keep their systems running at peak performance year-round.

Water Quality Testing

Before recommending any filtration solution, we want to know what's actually in your water. Our water quality testing gives Cedar Park homeowners a clear picture of hardness levels, pH, chlorine content, sediment, and any other concerns specific to your supply source or neighborhood. Testing takes the guesswork out and ensures you're investing in filtration that actually addresses your water's real issues.

Filtration for New Construction Homes

New developments in Cedar Park are going up fast, and builder-installed plumbing rarely includes any filtration. We work with homeowners in newly built homes to add a filtration layer before they start experiencing the scale buildup, appliance wear, and water quality issues that come with unfiltered municipal supply. Getting a system in early protects your investment from day one.

Water Filtration & Water Heater Protection

Hard, unfiltered water is one of the leading causes of premature water heater failure in Cedar Park homes. Mineral scale accumulates inside tank and tankless heaters alike, reducing efficiency and shortening lifespan. Pairing a whole-home filter or softener with your water heater setup is one of the smartest long-term investments you can make as a Cedar Park homeowner.

We Know Cedar Park Homes

Cedar Park has some of the most varied housing stock in the Austin metro. You've got brand-new builds going up off Ronald Reagan Boulevard where the plumbing is fresh but completely unfiltered, right alongside neighborhoods like Buttercup Creek and Forest Oaks where homes are 15 to 20 years old and have been living with hard water long enough to show serious scale buildup inside pipes and appliances. We've worked in both, and we know that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work here.

The water coming into Cedar Park homes runs hard, and most municipal supply in this area carries enough dissolved minerals to noticeably shorten the life of water heaters and damage fixtures over time. Families who've been here a while often don't realize how much their unfiltered water is costing them in appliance wear and replacements. We bring that local knowledge to every job, and it means you get a filtration recommendation that's actually built around what your specific home and water supply need.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is the water in Cedar Park, and do I really need a filtration system?
Cedar Park water is notoriously hard, typically measuring well above 200 parts per million in total dissolved solids depending on your specific service area and time of year. That level of hardness causes visible scale on fixtures, shortens the lifespan of water heaters and appliances, and can leave a flat or mineral taste in your drinking water. While a filtration system is not required, most Cedar Park homeowners who install one wish they had done it sooner when they see how much scale has already built up inside their pipes and water heater. A water softener addresses hardness specifically, while a full filtration system handles hardness, sediment, chlorine, and other contaminants together. Getting a water quality test first is the best way to know exactly what you are dealing with.
What is the difference between a water softener and a water filter?
A water softener specifically targets hard water minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium, by replacing them with sodium ions through an ion exchange process. A water filter is designed to remove contaminants like sediment, chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals, and in the case of reverse osmosis, dissolved solids. In Cedar Park, where both hardness and general water quality concerns are common, many homeowners benefit from having both systems working together. A softener protects your pipes and appliances from scale, while a filtration system improves taste, smell, and overall safety. We can help you figure out which one you need, or whether a combined setup makes sense for your home.
How much does a whole-home water filtration system cost in Cedar Park?
Whole-home water filtration systems in Cedar Park typically range from around 500 dollars for a basic single-stage sediment or carbon filter up to 3,000 dollars or more for a multi-stage system that includes sediment, carbon, and a water softener stage. Reverse osmosis systems installed under the sink generally run between 300 and 800 dollars depending on the number of stages and the brand. The total cost depends on your home size, water usage, existing plumbing, and what your water testing reveals. We always provide an upfront, itemized quote before any work begins so you know exactly what you are spending.
How often do water filter cartridges need to be replaced?
It depends on the type of filter and how much water your household uses. Sediment pre-filters in a whole-home system typically need replacement every three to six months, while activated carbon filters often last six to twelve months. Reverse osmosis membrane cartridges can last two to three years under normal conditions, but in Cedar Park where the water runs hard and is heavily treated, you may find yourself replacing them on the shorter end of that range. Running an expired cartridge is not just inefficient, it can actually allow trapped contaminants to re-enter your water supply. Setting a maintenance reminder or scheduling an annual service visit is the easiest way to stay on top of it.
Can a water filtration system help my water heater last longer?
Yes, and this is one of the most overlooked benefits of filtration in Cedar Park. Hard water causes calcium and magnesium to precipitate out as scale inside your water heater tank or on the heat exchanger in a tankless unit. That scale acts as insulation between the burner and the water, forcing the heater to work harder and run longer to reach temperature. Over time this significantly shortens the unit's lifespan and drives up your energy bills. Pairing a water softener or whole-home filter with your water heater is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect a major appliance in a hard-water market like Cedar Park.
