About Our HVAC Repair in Bee Cave

Bee Cave has grown fast, and most of its housing stock reflects that — newer builds with high-efficiency two-stage or variable-speed HVAC systems, zoned climate control, and smart thermostats that need a technician who actually knows what they're looking at. Cold is on the Right works on all major brands and system types, including the premium equipment common in communities like Falconhead, The Homestead, and lakefront properties along Lake Travis. We don't guess — we diagnose, explain what we found, and give you a clear price before any work begins.

Living west of Austin means your HVAC is doing double duty: fighting intense summer heat that can push attic temps past 150°F and managing the occasional winter freeze that catches newer heat pump systems off guard. We understand the demands Hill Country weather puts on residential HVAC, and we service Bee Cave homes with the same care and precision those systems were built to receive.

HVAC Repair Services We Provide in Bee Cave

AC Repair

When your air conditioner stops cooling in the middle of a Bee Cave summer, every hour counts. We diagnose and repair compressor failures, refrigerant leaks, frozen evaporator coils, and electrical faults across all major brands. Bee Cave's newer homes often run high-efficiency systems with variable-speed compressors — we have the training to handle them correctly.

Furnace Repair

Hill Country winters can drop temperatures quickly, and a failing furnace in Bee Cave is never a convenient problem. We repair gas and electric furnaces, including high-efficiency condensing units common in newer builds. Whether it's a faulty igniter, a cracked heat exchanger, or a blower motor issue, we'll get your heat running safely again.

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps are increasingly popular in Bee Cave's newer construction, offering both heating and cooling efficiency. When a heat pump fails to switch modes, loses refrigerant, or develops reversing valve problems, it takes a technician who understands how these systems differ from traditional AC units. We service all major heat pump brands and get them back to peak performance.

Heating Repairs

Beyond furnaces and heat pumps, Bee Cave homes may rely on radiant systems, mini-splits, or hybrid heating setups that require specialized knowledge. We troubleshoot the full range of heating equipment, identifying the root cause rather than just patching symptoms. Getting your heating system right matters — cold nights in the Hill Country come faster than most people expect.

HVAC Maintenance

Preventive maintenance is the smartest investment you can make in a newer HVAC system, especially in Bee Cave where heat runs systems hard for six or more months a year. We clean coils, check refrigerant levels, test electrical components, and calibrate thermostats so your system runs efficiently all season. Catching small issues early keeps repair bills low and systems running longer.

HVAC Replacement

When repair costs outweigh the value of keeping an older system running, replacement is the smarter call. We help Bee Cave homeowners choose the right system for their home's size, layout, and efficiency goals, with options from top-tier brands that match the quality standards of newer construction in the area. We handle the full installation and haul away the old equipment.

Learn More

Refrigerant Leak Detection and Recharge

Low refrigerant is one of the most common reasons an AC system underperforms during a hot Bee Cave summer. We use professional leak detection equipment to locate the source of the leak, repair it properly, and recharge the system to manufacturer specifications. Simply topping off refrigerant without fixing the leak is a short-term fix — we address the actual problem.

Thermostat Repair and Replacement

Smart thermostats and multi-zone control systems are standard in many Bee Cave homes, and when they malfunction, your entire HVAC system can behave unpredictably. We diagnose communication errors, wiring faults, and calibration issues, and we can upgrade older thermostats to modern programmable or smart models. Accurate thermostat control means better comfort and lower energy bills.

Zoned HVAC System Repairs

Zoning systems are common in larger Bee Cave homes, allowing different areas of the house to be conditioned independently. When dampers stick, zone controllers fail, or one area of your home stops cooling correctly, the fix requires a technician familiar with multi-zone configurations. We diagnose and repair zoned systems so every room in your home stays comfortable.

Air Handler Repair

The air handler is the indoor half of your HVAC system, and problems with the blower motor, coil, or drainage can ripple out into humidity issues, poor airflow, and water damage. In Bee Cave's newer homes, air handlers are often installed in attic spaces that reach extreme temperatures, which can accelerate wear on components. We inspect, repair, and restore air handlers to proper operation.

Ductwork Inspection and Repair

Even well-built homes in Bee Cave can develop duct leaks over time, especially as homes settle and attic temperatures stress duct seams. Leaking ducts waste conditioned air, drive up energy bills, and make your system work harder than it should. We inspect ductwork, identify leaks or blockages, and seal or repair ducts to restore proper airflow throughout your home.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Most of Bee Cave's housing stock was built in the 2000s and 2010s, which means the area's homes often run two-stage and variable-speed HVAC equipment that requires more than basic mechanical knowledge to service correctly. These systems have inverter-driven compressors, communicating thermostats, and multi-board electronics — and a technician who isn't familiar with them can easily misdiagnose or damage components that cost thousands to replace. We've worked on the systems common to Falconhead, Uplands, and lakeside communities throughout the Bee Cave area, and we know what these homes need.

The location brings its own set of conditions worth noting. Attics in Hill Country homes can reach extreme temperatures, accelerating wear on ductwork, air handlers, and refrigerant lines. Properties near Lake Travis can see higher humidity than homeowners expect this far west, which puts more stress on evaporator coils and drainage systems. When you call Cold is on the Right, you're getting a technician who accounts for all of that — not someone running through a generic checklist.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does HVAC repair typically cost in Bee Cave?
HVAC repair costs in Bee Cave vary depending on what's wrong and what type of system you have. Simple repairs like a capacitor replacement or thermostat swap might run $150 to $350. Mid-range repairs such as a blower motor or contactor replacement typically fall between $300 and $600. More involved work like a compressor repair or refrigerant leak fix can run $700 to $1,500 or more, depending on refrigerant type and system complexity. Bee Cave homes often have high-efficiency or two-stage systems, and parts for those can carry a premium. We provide a complete price before starting any work so there are no surprises.
My AC is running but not cooling my house below 80°F — what's wrong?
This is one of the most common complaints we hear during Bee Cave summers, and it usually points to a few possible causes. Low refrigerant from a slow leak is a frequent culprit, as is a dirty or frozen evaporator coil that restricts airflow. A failing compressor or a faulty capacitor can also prevent the system from producing enough cooling capacity. On extremely hot days, a system that's slightly undersized for the home may also struggle — though if it was working fine before, a mechanical issue is more likely. A proper diagnostic will pinpoint the exact cause so the right repair can be made.
How long does an HVAC repair take in Bee Cave?
Most standard HVAC repairs can be completed in a single visit, typically taking one to three hours depending on the nature of the problem. Straightforward fixes like capacitor swaps, thermostat replacements, or drain line clearing are usually done in under an hour. More involved repairs — refrigerant leak detection and recharge, blower motor replacement, or control board issues — may take two to four hours. If a part needs to be ordered, we'll let you know upfront and schedule the follow-up as quickly as possible. We carry a wide range of common parts on our service vehicles to minimize delays.
Is it worth repairing my HVAC system, or should I replace it?
The general rule of thumb is to multiply the system's age by the repair cost — if that number exceeds $5,000, replacement is often the smarter financial move. For Bee Cave homes with newer systems (under 10 years old), repair almost always makes sense unless there's a catastrophic compressor failure on an older refrigerant system. Systems over 15 years old with repeated failures or R-22 refrigerant are strong replacement candidates. We'll give you our honest assessment during the diagnostic — we're not in the business of pushing replacements when a repair is the right answer, or selling repairs on a system that's on its last legs.
Do you service smart thermostats and zoned HVAC systems in Bee Cave?
Yes, and this is actually a common need in Bee Cave given how many homes have multi-zone configurations and smart thermostat setups. We work with all major smart thermostat brands including Nest, Ecobee, Honeywell, and Carrier's communicating systems. Zoning issues often involve stuck dampers, zone controller board failures, or wiring problems that require someone familiar with how these systems communicate. We diagnose and repair both the mechanical and electronic sides of zoned HVAC systems.
How often should I have my HVAC system serviced in Bee Cave?
We recommend twice-yearly maintenance for most Bee Cave homes — once in the spring before cooling season ramps up and once in the fall before you're relying on heat. The heavy cooling load that Bee Cave summers place on HVAC systems makes spring maintenance especially important, as it's the best time to catch refrigerant issues, clean coils, and verify that the system is ready for months of near-constant operation. Homes near Lake Travis can see higher humidity levels that increase stress on evaporator coils and drain lines, making regular servicing even more valuable. Consistent maintenance extends equipment life, maintains efficiency, and catches problems before they become emergency repairs.
