About Our Sewer Services in Westlake

Homes in Westlake built during the 1970s through 1990s were constructed with materials that were state-of-the-art at the time — cast iron, Orangeburg, and early PVC pipes — that are now reaching the end of their service lives. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air understands what decades of hard Hill Country water, shifting soils, and mature tree root intrusion can do to a sewer system. We use camera inspection technology and proven diagnostic methods to find exactly where problems originate, so we're never guessing and never recommending work you don't need.

Every Westlake home is different, and we treat it that way. Whether you're dealing with a single stubborn backup or a sewer line that's been quietly failing for years, our licensed plumbers take the time to walk you through what we find, what your options are, and what it will cost before a single shovel hits the ground. We know the expectations in this community are high — and we think your plumber's standards should be too.

Sewer Services We Provide in Westlake

Sewer Line Camera Inspection

Before any repair or replacement happens, we send a high-definition camera through your sewer line to see exactly what's going on. In Westlake homes with decades of root intrusion and aging pipe joints, this step is critical to diagnosing the real problem rather than chasing symptoms. You'll see what we see — no guesswork, no unnecessary work.

Sewer Line Repair

Cracked joints, root infiltration, and corroded pipe sections are common in Westlake's older homes and can cause slow drains, odors, and yard saturation. We perform targeted sewer line repairs that address the specific failure point without tearing up more of your property than necessary. Our goal is a precise, lasting fix the first time.

Sewer Line Replacement

When a Westlake sewer line has deteriorated beyond the point of repair — whether from age, root damage, or material failure — full replacement is the smartest long-term investment. We install durable, modern pipe materials that are built to handle Hill Country soil conditions and last for decades. Learn More

Drain Cleaning

Slow or backed-up drains throughout a Westlake home often signal more than a surface clog — they can point to buildup or partial blockages deep in the sewer line. Our professional drain cleaning services use advanced equipment to clear obstructions completely and restore full flow to your system. Learn More

Hydro Jetting

Years of grease, mineral scale from hard Central Texas water, and compacted debris can accumulate inside older sewer lines to a point where conventional snaking won't cut it. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour pipe walls clean from the inside out, restoring flow and extending the life of your existing pipes. It's particularly effective in Westlake homes where pipes haven't been serviced in years.

Root Intrusion Removal

Westlake's mature landscape is one of its greatest assets, but large root systems from live oaks and cedar elms can crush or infiltrate older clay and cast iron sewer lines over time. We remove root intrusion and assess whether the affected section of pipe needs repair or replacement so the problem doesn't return next season.

Leak Detection

Sewer leaks don't always announce themselves with a backup — sometimes they show up as soggy patches in the yard, unexplained odors, or a water bill that keeps climbing. Our leak detection services help Westlake homeowners find hidden sewer and water line leaks before they cause structural damage or environmental issues. Learn More

Emergency Sewer Service

A sewage backup or broken sewer line can't wait until Monday morning, and neither can we. Cold is on the Right offers emergency sewer services for Westlake homeowners who need fast, professional help protecting their home and family. Learn More

Trenchless Sewer Repair

For Westlake properties with mature landscaping, stone hardscapes, or long driveways over the sewer line, trenchless repair methods allow us to rehabilitate or replace pipe sections with minimal surface disruption. We assess whether your situation qualifies for trenchless methods and explain the trade-offs honestly before any work begins.

Whole House Repiping

When a Westlake home's plumbing has simply reached the end of its useful life across multiple systems, a full repipe is often the most cost-effective path forward. We replace aging supply and drain lines with modern materials that perform reliably and won't require constant patchwork repairs going forward. Learn More

General Plumbing Repairs

Sewer problems often surface alongside other plumbing issues in older Westlake homes — corroded fittings, failing cleanouts, and deteriorated p-traps can all contribute to the same symptoms. Our plumbers handle the full picture so nothing gets overlooked during a sewer service call. Learn More

We Know Westlake Homes

Westlake is full of beautifully maintained homes that were built when the area was still being carved out of the Hill Country — large lots, custom construction, and plumbing systems that were premium for their era but are now 30 to 50 years old. Cast iron drain lines, older clay sewer laterals, and early-generation PVC are common in this housing stock, and each material ages differently. We've worked in enough of these homes to know what to look for and where problems tend to hide.

The combination of expansive live oaks, caliche soil, and Central Texas hard water creates a particular set of challenges for sewer systems in this part of Austin. Root intrusion is one of the most common issues we find during camera inspections here, and the mineral scale that hard water leaves inside older pipes compounds flow problems over time. When a Westlake homeowner calls us, we come prepared for what this community's homes actually look like — not a generic service call.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my Westlake home's sewer line needs to be replaced or just repaired?
The answer depends on the extent and location of the damage, and the only reliable way to know is a camera inspection. In Westlake homes built in the 1970s through 1990s, we frequently find cast iron or clay pipes that have deteriorated in multiple sections — at that point, repeated spot repairs often cost more over time than a full replacement. If the damage is isolated to one section and the rest of the pipe is structurally sound, a targeted repair is usually the better value. We'll show you the camera footage and give you an honest recommendation either way.
What does a sewer camera inspection involve and how long does it take?
A sewer camera inspection involves running a flexible, waterproof camera through your sewer line via a cleanout access point so we can see the condition of the pipe from the inside. The process typically takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the length of the line and how easily accessible the cleanout is. We can see cracks, root intrusion, offset joints, buildup, and other issues in real time and record the footage for documentation. For any Westlake home that hasn't had its sewer line inspected in years, this is the smartest first step before spending money on any other repair.
What should I do if my sewer is backing up into the house right now?
Stop using water throughout the house immediately — every flush, drain, and fixture adds to the backup and can push sewage further into your home. Do not use chemical drain cleaners, as they won't resolve a sewer backup and can create hazardous conditions. If sewage is actively entering living spaces, avoid contact with the water as it poses a health risk. Give us a call and we'll dispatch a plumber to your Westlake home as quickly as possible to assess the situation, clear the blockage, and inspect the line to find out what caused it.
