About Our Furnace Repair Services in Lakeway

Lakeway's housing stock tells a real story — 1970s and 80s builds that have been lovingly updated but still carry original ductwork, furnaces that have outlasted their expected lifespan, and newer lakeside homes with more sophisticated systems that need a technician who actually knows what they're looking at. Cold is on the Right works on all of it. Our licensed technicians evaluate your blower motor, heat exchanger, ignition system, burners, and electrical connections to find the real cause of the problem — not just the symptom.

Living close to Lake Travis means your HVAC system works in a higher-humidity environment than most Central Texas homes, and that creates specific wear patterns over time. Corrosion on electrical components, buildup in the heat exchanger, and stressed blower motors are all more common here. We account for those local conditions in every repair we do, and we give you upfront pricing before any work begins — no surprises on the back end.

Furnace Repair Services We Provide in Lakeway

Furnace Diagnostics

When your furnace isn't performing right, the first step is figuring out exactly why. Our technicians run a full system diagnostic — testing ignition, airflow, heat output, and electrical components — to identify the root cause rather than guessing. In Lakeway's older homes especially, what looks like a simple fix sometimes points to a deeper issue worth knowing about.

Learn More

Ignition and Burner Repair

A furnace that won't ignite or produces weak heat often has a faulty ignitor, dirty burner, or failed flame sensor. These are common issues in systems that have been running for 15 or more years — the kind of equipment you'll find throughout Lakeway's established neighborhoods. We clean, test, and replace components as needed to restore reliable ignition and consistent heat output.

Learn More

Blower Motor Repair

The blower motor pushes heated air through your ductwork and into your living spaces. When it starts failing, you'll notice reduced airflow, strange noises, or rooms that just never warm up properly. Lake Travis humidity accelerates wear on motor bearings and windings, so blower motor issues are something we see regularly in Lakeway homes of all ages.

Learn More

Heat Exchanger Inspection and Repair

A cracked heat exchanger is one of the most serious furnace problems because it can allow carbon monoxide to enter your home's air supply. Lakeway homes with older gas furnaces are at higher risk, especially when systems have been running for decades with minimal maintenance. We inspect heat exchangers thoroughly and give you an honest assessment of whether repair or replacement is the right path.

Learn More

Thermostat Repair and Calibration

Sometimes the furnace itself is fine — it's the thermostat that's causing erratic behavior, short cycling, or a heating system that won't respond to temperature changes. We test and recalibrate or replace thermostats to make sure your system responds accurately to what you set. This is a quick, cost-effective fix that makes a noticeable difference in comfort and efficiency.

Learn More

Ductwork Inspection and Sealing

Leaky or deteriorating ductwork can make even a well-functioning furnace feel like it's underperforming. Many Lakeway homes built in the 70s and 80s have duct systems that have never been fully inspected or sealed, meaning a significant portion of your heated air never reaches its destination. We locate leaks, assess duct condition, and seal problem areas to improve airflow and lower your heating costs.

Learn More

Furnace Tune-Up and Preventive Maintenance

Regular maintenance is the best way to avoid an unexpected breakdown in the middle of a cold snap. Our tune-up service covers cleaning, lubrication, filter inspection, ignition testing, and a full system check — everything that keeps your furnace running efficiently through the season. For Lakeway homeowners who want to protect a long-term investment, preventive maintenance is one of the smartest calls you can make.

Learn More

Gas Valve and Fuel System Repair

A faulty gas valve or fuel delivery issue can leave you with a furnace that fires briefly and then shuts down, or one that refuses to start at all. These repairs require a licensed technician who can work safely with gas systems, and we take every precaution to ensure your system is operating safely before we leave. If you smell gas or suspect a fuel system issue, call us right away.

Learn More

Electrical Component Repair

Control boards, capacitors, and wiring connections all play a role in how your furnace starts and runs. Humidity from Lake Travis can accelerate corrosion on these components, and over time that leads to intermittent failures or a system that simply won't power on. We test and replace faulty electrical parts with the right components for your specific furnace make and model.

Learn More

Furnace Replacement Consultation

Not every furnace is worth repairing — especially if it's pushing 20-plus years and costing you more in service calls than it's worth. If we find that repair is no longer the best value for your home, we'll walk you through replacement options honestly, without pressure. We help Lakeway homeowners understand the real cost comparison and choose a new system that fits both the home and the budget.

Learn More

New Furnace Installation

When it's time for a new system, proper installation makes all the difference in long-term efficiency and reliability. We size the unit correctly for your home, handle all connections and ductwork integration, and ensure your new furnace is commissioned and running right before we leave. Whether you're replacing an aging unit in an older Lakeway home or upgrading a newer build, we install equipment built to last.

We Know Lakeway Homes

Lakeway has a distinctive mix of housing that requires real local knowledge. The established neighborhoods close to the water — streets that have been here since the 70s and 80s — often have original duct systems, furnaces that have been replaced once or twice, and homes that have been upgraded in layers over the decades. Knowing what to expect when you open up a system in one of these houses is something you only get from experience, and our technicians have worked on enough of them to know where the problems tend to hide.

The proximity to Lake Travis adds a layer of complexity that doesn't apply to most Austin-area homes. Higher ambient humidity means metal components corrode faster, electrical connections degrade sooner, and heat exchangers in older gas furnaces take on more stress over time. We factor all of that into our diagnostics and our repair recommendations — because a fix that ignores the environment the system lives in isn't really a fix at all. When Lakeway homeowners call Cold is on the Right, they get a team that already understands their home before we walk through the door.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does furnace repair typically cost in Lakeway?
Most furnace repairs in the Lakeway area fall somewhere between $150 and $600, depending on what's failed and which components need to be replaced. A straightforward ignitor or flame sensor swap is on the lower end, while a blower motor replacement or control board repair tends to run higher. We always provide upfront pricing after diagnosis so you know exactly what you're approving before any work begins. Homes near Lake Travis sometimes see faster component wear due to humidity, which can mean repairs come up sooner than expected — regular maintenance helps reduce those surprises.
My furnace is from the late 1990s — is it worth repairing or should I just replace it?
A furnace from the late 90s is getting close to the end of its practical lifespan, but that doesn't automatically mean replacement is the right call. The honest answer depends on what's failed, what the repair costs, and how the unit has been maintained. If the heat exchanger is cracked or the repair estimate is more than half the cost of a new system, replacement usually makes more financial sense. If it's a minor component and the system has been reasonably maintained, a repair might give you several more good years. We'll give you a straight answer after we see the system.
Why does humidity near Lake Travis affect my furnace?
Higher ambient humidity accelerates corrosion on metal components inside your furnace — particularly the heat exchanger, burner assembly, and electrical connections. Over time, this can cause components to fail sooner than they would in a drier environment. It also contributes to microbial growth in ductwork and on coil surfaces, which can affect indoor air quality and restrict airflow. Lakeway homeowners should be especially consistent about annual maintenance and filter changes to offset the effects of living in a higher-humidity climate.
What should I do if I smell gas near my furnace?
If you smell gas near your furnace, leave the house immediately without using any light switches, appliances, or electronics — these can create a spark. Once you're outside, call your gas provider's emergency line and then call us. Do not re-enter the home until a professional has confirmed the source of the leak and cleared the area as safe. Gas leaks near furnaces can result from a faulty gas valve, loose connection, or a cracked heat exchanger, and all of them require licensed service to address properly.
How long does a furnace repair visit usually take in Lakeway?
Most furnace repair visits take between one and three hours from the time our technician arrives. Straightforward repairs like ignitor or thermostat replacements often take under an hour once diagnosed. More involved work — like blower motor replacement or heat exchanger inspection — can take longer, especially if parts need to be sourced. We'll give you a realistic time estimate after diagnosis so you can plan your day accordingly. We do our best to carry common replacement parts on the truck to minimize any delay.
How often should I have my furnace serviced in Lakeway?
Once a year is the standard recommendation, and fall is the ideal time — before you actually need the heat. In Lakeway, the humidity factor makes that annual checkup especially worthwhile, since moisture-related wear on components can develop slowly and show up suddenly when you put the system under load. A tune-up typically includes cleaning burners, checking ignition, inspecting the heat exchanger, testing electrical connections, and replacing the filter. Staying consistent with maintenance is the most cost-effective way to extend the life of your furnace and avoid mid-winter breakdowns.
