About Our Water Heater Services in Georgetown

Georgetown's explosive growth means our plumbers work across an unusually wide spectrum of homes and systems. On any given week, we might be replacing a failing tank unit in an older home near the Red Poppy District and then turning around to install a tankless water heater in a new construction home out in Wolf Ranch or Morningstar. That range of experience gives us a genuine edge. We understand how older Georgetown homes were plumbed, what the hard local water does to heating elements and anode rods over time, and what newer developments often get wrong during the initial build.

Cold is on the Right works with homeowners to match the right water heating system to their household size, energy goals, and budget. We carry high-efficiency conventional units, tankless systems, and hybrid heat pump water heaters. We provide transparent pricing before any work begins, and we never push you toward a more expensive option than you need. Georgetown residents get the same licensed, insured craftsmanship whether you live in a 1920s bungalow or a home that was framed last year.

Water Heater Repair

Hard water in Georgetown is tough on water heaters, accelerating sediment buildup, corroding heating elements, and wearing out anode rods faster than average. When your hot water turns lukewarm, runs out quickly, or your unit starts making rumbling noises, our licensed plumbers diagnose the problem accurately and get it fixed fast.

Water Heater Replacement

When repair no longer makes financial sense, we help Georgetown homeowners choose the right replacement unit and handle the full swap. We haul away the old system, install the new one properly, and make sure you're not left without hot water any longer than necessary.

Tankless Water Heater Installation

Tankless water heaters are a popular upgrade in Georgetown, especially in newer homes where energy efficiency and space savings matter. These on-demand systems eliminate the standby energy loss of traditional tank units and can handle the continuous hot water demands of larger households common in Georgetown's family-oriented communities.

Hybrid and Heat Pump Water Heaters

Hybrid heat pump water heaters are among the most energy-efficient options available, and they perform particularly well in Georgetown's climate where ambient temperatures stay warm for much of the year. These systems pull heat from the surrounding air rather than generating it directly, which can significantly reduce monthly energy costs for Georgetown homeowners.

Sediment Flush and Tank Maintenance

Georgetown sits in an area with notably hard water, and mineral deposits accumulate inside water heater tanks faster than homeowners often expect. Regular sediment flushes extend the life of your unit, improve heating efficiency, and reduce the popping and rumbling sounds that hard water buildup causes over time.

Anode Rod Replacement

The anode rod is the sacrificial component that protects your tank from corrosion, and in Georgetown's hard water conditions it degrades faster than in softer water markets. Replacing it on schedule is one of the most cost-effective maintenance steps a Georgetown homeowner can take to get full life out of a water heater.

Pressure Relief Valve Service

The temperature and pressure relief valve is a critical safety component on any tank water heater, and it should be tested periodically to confirm it's functioning correctly. If it's leaking, corroded, or has never been tested, our plumbers can inspect and replace it to keep your system operating safely.

Water Heater Expansion Tank Installation

Many Georgetown homes on closed plumbing systems are required to have an expansion tank installed alongside the water heater to manage thermal expansion and protect pipes and fixtures. If your home lacks one, we can assess whether it's needed and install the right size unit to bring your system into compliance.

Emergency Water Heater Service

A failed water heater does not wait for a convenient time, and Georgetown homeowners with families to get ready in the morning understand that better than most. Cold is on the Right offers emergency service so you're not stuck cold for days waiting on a callback.

Plumbing Repairs Related to Water Heater Issues

Sometimes a water heater problem is actually a plumbing problem in disguise, including corroded supply lines, faulty shutoff valves, or inadequate water pressure affecting performance. Our licensed plumbers can diagnose and address the full picture rather than just treating the visible symptom.

Ask us about available plans when you call, with no pressure and no surprises.

We Know Georgetown Homes

Georgetown's housing stock is genuinely one of the most varied we work in. The streets near the historic downtown square have homes pushing 100 years old, many with original or early-replacement plumbing that was never designed to handle modern water usage demands. Further out, communities like Sun City, Wolf Ranch, and Morningstar are filled with homes built within the last decade, and while newer construction sounds reassuring, builder-grade water heaters in those homes are often approaching the end of their useful life sooner than homeowners expect.

Georgetown's water is notoriously hard, and that affects water heaters significantly. Mineral scale builds inside tanks and on heating elements, reducing efficiency and shortening equipment life. Our plumbers have worked on enough Georgetown systems to know what failure patterns to look for and what maintenance actually makes a difference here. We also understand the layout differences between a cramped utility closet in a Southwestern-style historic home and a dedicated mechanical room in a newer development, and we plan the job accordingly.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do water heaters typically last in Georgetown?
Most conventional tank water heaters last 8 to 12 years, but Georgetown's hard water can shorten that lifespan if the unit hasn't been maintained. Hard water causes mineral scale to accumulate inside the tank and on the heating elements, which forces the system to work harder and wear out faster. Tankless units generally last longer, often 15 to 20 years, but they also benefit from periodic descaling in hard water conditions. If your unit is approaching the 10-year mark and starting to show signs of trouble, replacement is often more cost-effective than ongoing repairs.
What does a water heater replacement cost in Georgetown?
The cost of water heater replacement in Georgetown depends on the type of unit, the size, and any additional work required such as code updates, expansion tank installation, or supply line replacement. A conventional tank replacement typically runs in the range of $900 to $1,800 installed, while tankless systems generally cost more upfront, often $1,500 to $3,000 or higher depending on the unit and installation complexity. Hybrid heat pump water heaters fall somewhere in between. We always provide upfront pricing before any work begins so you know exactly what you're looking at.
Does hard water in Georgetown affect my water heater?
Yes, Georgetown's water is quite hard due to high mineral content from the local limestone geology, and it has a noticeable impact on water heater performance and longevity. Calcium and magnesium deposits build up inside the tank over time, reducing heating efficiency, creating the popping or rumbling sounds many homeowners hear, and accelerating corrosion of internal components. Flushing the tank annually and replacing the anode rod on schedule are the most effective maintenance steps to counteract hard water damage. A water softener can also help reduce buildup throughout your entire plumbing system.
Is a tankless water heater a good fit for Georgetown homes?
Tankless water heaters are a strong option for many Georgetown homeowners, particularly in newer construction where the infrastructure for natural gas or upgraded electrical service is already in place. They provide hot water on demand, eliminate standby heat loss, and can significantly reduce monthly energy costs for active households. In older Georgetown homes, the installation may involve additional work to upgrade gas lines or electrical panels, which affects the overall cost. We assess your home's current setup honestly and let you know exactly what the full installation would involve before you commit.
How do I know if my water heater needs repair or full replacement?
The general rule of thumb is that if the repair cost exceeds 50 percent of the cost of a new unit and the system is more than 7 or 8 years old, replacement usually makes more financial sense. Signs that lean toward replacement include active tank leaks, persistent rust-colored water, repeated failures within a short period, and significant efficiency decline. Repairs make more sense for newer units with isolated issues like a failed heating element, a bad thermostat, or a faulty pressure relief valve. Our plumbers will give you an honest assessment rather than defaulting to whichever option costs more.
Do you offer same-day or emergency water heater service in Georgetown?
Yes, we offer emergency water heater service for Georgetown homeowners who are dealing with a complete failure, an active leak, or a situation that can't wait. Response times vary depending on current demand, but we work to get to you as quickly as possible. If you have an active leak, shutting off the cold water supply valve to the heater is the first step to take while you wait, and turning off the gas or power to the unit is also a good precaution. Give us a call and we will let you know our earliest available time and walk you through any immediate steps to take in the meantime.
