About Our Water Heater Installation in Georgetown

Georgetown has become one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and the housing stock reflects it. On one end, you've got older homes near the historic downtown district with aging plumbing that requires careful attention during any new installation. On the other end, master-planned communities like Sun City, Wolf Ranch, and Teravista are packed with newer construction homes that may still be under builder warranties or dealing with first-generation water heater failures. Cold is on the Right works across all of it.

We install tank-style and tankless water heaters from trusted brands, and we take the time to evaluate your home's existing plumbing, water pressure, and fuel source before recommending a system. Georgetown's water is notoriously hard, and that mineral buildup significantly shortens water heater life if you don't have the right setup. We help you choose equipment that can handle local conditions, not just whatever happens to be in stock.

Water Heater Installation Services We Provide in Georgetown

Tank Water Heater Installation

Traditional tank-style water heaters remain the most common choice in Georgetown homes, particularly in older properties and large family households with high hot water demand. We install 40-, 50-, and 75-gallon units from reputable manufacturers, matching capacity to your household size. Our plumbers handle all connections, code compliance, and safe removal of your old unit.

Tankless Water Heater Installation

Tankless water heaters are an increasingly popular upgrade for Georgetown homeowners who want endless hot water without the energy waste of keeping a tank heated around the clock. They're especially practical in newer homes where dedicated gas lines or upgraded electrical panels are already in place. We install and commission tankless units from leading brands and set them up for Georgetown's hard water conditions.

Water Heater Replacement

If your current water heater is aging out or has failed, replacement is often smarter than repair — especially in a city like Georgetown where older units frequently can't keep up with the demands of growing households. We'll assess what you have, recommend the right replacement, and get it installed quickly so you're not without hot water longer than necessary.

Learn More

Water Heater Repair

Sometimes a water heater just needs a fix rather than a full swap. Pilot light issues, faulty thermostats, bad heating elements, and pressure relief valve problems are all things our Georgetown plumbers diagnose and repair on the spot. We'll tell you honestly whether a repair makes financial sense or whether you're better off putting that money toward a new unit.

Gas Water Heater Installation

Gas water heaters heat water faster and typically cost less to operate than electric models, making them a strong choice for Georgetown families with high hot water usage. Our licensed plumbers handle all gas line connections safely and in compliance with local code, including any permits required by Williamson County. We test for leaks and verify proper venting before we leave your home.

Electric Water Heater Installation

Electric water heaters are a common fit for Georgetown homes and condos that don't have existing gas service, or for homeowners who prefer not to deal with gas lines. We install standard electric resistance models as well as high-efficiency heat pump water heaters, which can dramatically cut energy costs in our Texas climate. We coordinate with your panel capacity to ensure safe installation.

Learn More

Water Softener Integration

Georgetown's water is among the hardest in Central Texas, and installing a water heater without addressing that hard water is a recipe for early failure. We help homeowners pair new water heater installations with water softener systems or scale-reduction filters that protect the equipment and extend its lifespan. This is one of the most practical upgrades a Georgetown homeowner can make.

Learn More

Expansion Tank Installation

Many Georgetown homes on closed plumbing systems are required by code to have a thermal expansion tank installed alongside their water heater. Without one, pressure buildup from a closed system can shorten water heater life and cause damage to other fixtures. We assess your system and install expansion tanks wherever they're needed, keeping your installation up to code.

Water Heater Relocation

Renovations, garage conversions, and home additions sometimes call for moving a water heater to a better location. This is especially common in Georgetown's older homes near the historic district, where original plumbing layouts weren't designed with modern living in mind. We handle all aspects of relocation including new venting, gas or electric rerouting, and updated code compliance.

Learn More

New Construction Water Heater Installation

With Georgetown adding thousands of new homes every year in communities like Wolf Ranch, Morningstar, and Georgetown Village, we work with homeowners and contractors on new construction installs. We size water heaters correctly for the home from the start, which prevents the undersizing issues that often show up when builders cut corners on spec homes.

Learn More

Water Heater Flush and Maintenance

Annual flushing is especially important in Georgetown due to heavy mineral deposits that accumulate in tank-style water heaters over time. Skipping maintenance is one of the leading causes of premature water heater failure in this area. Our plumbers flush tanks, inspect anode rods, test pressure relief valves, and give you an honest report on how much life your current unit has left.

We Know Georgetown Homes

Georgetown's growth has created a genuinely wide range of home types within the same city limits. The historic homes near the downtown square often have older plumbing infrastructure that requires real care during installation — undersized supply lines, outdated venting configurations, and decades of sediment in the pipes are all things we factor in before we bring in a new water heater. A one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work here, and we don't pretend it does.

Out in the newer master-planned communities, the challenges are different but just as real. Subdivision water heaters installed by production builders are often the minimum spec for the square footage, and they show the strain early — particularly with Georgetown's hard water accelerating sediment buildup. We've worked in enough Georgetown neighborhoods to know exactly what to look for, and we give every homeowner an honest assessment of what they actually need rather than just what's quickest to install.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does water heater installation cost in Georgetown, TX?
Water heater installation in Georgetown typically ranges from $800 to $2,000 or more depending on the type of unit, the size, and the complexity of the installation. A standard 50-gallon gas tank replacement on an existing setup will generally come in at the lower end, while a tankless unit installation or a job requiring new gas line work or upgraded venting will run higher. Georgetown's hard water can also make certain equipment upgrades worth the additional cost upfront. We give you a firm, upfront quote before any work begins so you know exactly what you're committing to.
How long does it take to install a water heater in Georgetown?
Most standard tank water heater installations in Georgetown take between two and four hours from start to finish, including removing the old unit and testing the new one. Tankless water heater installations can take longer, typically four to six hours or more, especially if gas line modifications or electrical upgrades are involved. New construction or relocation installs vary depending on the scope of the plumbing work needed. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we assess your job so you can plan accordingly.
Should I get a tankless or tank water heater for my Georgetown home?
The right choice depends on your household size, your budget, and your home's existing infrastructure. Tankless units deliver hot water on demand and cost less to operate over time, which makes them appealing for Georgetown homeowners planning to stay in their home long term. However, Georgetown's hard water requires more diligent maintenance with tankless systems, including annual descaling, or the heat exchanger can fail prematurely. Tank-style heaters are simpler to maintain and less expensive upfront, which is why they remain common in both older Georgetown homes and newer subdivision builds. We'll help you weigh the tradeoffs honestly based on your specific situation.
How does Georgetown's hard water affect my water heater?
Georgetown has some of the hardest water in the Austin metro area, and it takes a real toll on water heaters. Mineral scale builds up inside the tank and on heating elements, forcing the unit to work harder and use more energy to heat the same amount of water. Over time this sediment causes the popping and rumbling sounds many homeowners notice, and it significantly shortens the life of the unit. Annual flushing helps, but pairing your water heater with a water softener or scale-reduction filter is the most effective way to protect your investment in Georgetown. A well-maintained water heater in a home with treated water can easily last 12 to 15 years.
Do I need a permit to install a water heater in Georgetown, TX?
Yes, the City of Georgetown requires a permit for water heater installation in most cases. The permit process ensures the installation is inspected for code compliance, which protects you as the homeowner and is important if you ever sell the property. When you hire Cold is on the Right, we handle the permitting process on your behalf so you don't have to deal with the city directly. Skipping permits is something unlicensed contractors sometimes do to save time, but it can create real headaches during a home sale or insurance claim, so it's not worth the shortcut.
How do I know if my water heater needs to be replaced or just repaired?
Age is the biggest factor. If your water heater is over 10 years old and having problems, replacement is almost always the smarter financial decision because repair costs on an aging unit often outpace the value you get from keeping it going. If the unit is under 8 years old and the issue is something like a bad thermostat, a faulty heating element, or a failed pilot assembly, repair usually makes sense. Leaking from the tank itself is a different story since that typically means internal corrosion and requires replacement regardless of age. We'll give you an honest assessment when we come out so you're not spending money on a repair that only delays the inevitable.
