About Our HVAC Maintenance in Dripping Springs

Dripping Springs homes are spread across the Hill Country landscape, many of them custom-built on large lots far from the nearest neighbor. When your HVAC system goes down out here, you can't just pop over to a hardware store and throw a quick fix at it — you need a technician who arrives prepared and knows what they're doing. Cold is on the Right serves this community with maintenance visits designed to catch problems before they become emergencies, checking everything from refrigerant levels and airflow to electrical connections and system efficiency.

We work on all major HVAC brands and system types, including the heat pumps and larger zoned systems common in bigger Hill Country homes. Regular maintenance matters even more when your property is a longer drive from town, because a breakdown in July isn't just inconvenient — it can be a genuine problem for your family and your home. Our goal is simple: keep your system running reliably so you're never left sweating it out waiting on a service call.

HVAC Maintenance Services We Provide in Dripping Springs

Seasonal AC Tune-Up

Before the Texas heat sets in, we inspect and tune your air conditioning system to make sure it can handle months of heavy use. We check refrigerant levels, clean coils, test capacitors, and verify airflow throughout your home. For Dripping Springs properties with longer ductwork runs common in larger custom homes, proper airflow balance is especially important.

Heating System Inspection

Hill Country winters may be shorter, but they hit hard and fast. We inspect your furnace or heat pump before cold weather arrives, checking heat exchangers, ignition components, and safety controls. Catching a worn part in October is far better than discovering a failed system during a January cold snap on a rural Dripping Springs property.

Air Filter Replacement and Airflow Check

Dripping Springs properties deal with Hill Country dust, cedar pollen, and the fine particulate that comes with living near gravel roads and open land. Clogged filters force your system to work harder and reduce indoor air quality noticeably. We replace filters and verify that airflow is balanced across every room in your home.

Coil Cleaning

Dirty evaporator and condenser coils are one of the most common reasons HVAC systems lose efficiency in Central Texas. We clean both coils thoroughly so heat transfer happens the way it should. On acreage properties where outdoor units are exposed to more dust, debris, and vegetation, regular coil cleaning makes a measurable difference in performance and energy costs.

Refrigerant Level Check

Low refrigerant causes your AC to struggle, run longer, and wear out faster — none of which you want when summer temperatures in Dripping Springs push into triple digits for weeks at a time. We check refrigerant levels during every maintenance visit and address leaks properly rather than just topping off a system that will lose charge again.

Learn More

Thermostat Calibration and Testing

An improperly calibrated thermostat can cause your system to short-cycle, overshoot temperatures, or run constantly without reaching your set point. We test and calibrate your thermostat — or smart thermostat if you have one — to make sure it's communicating accurately with your equipment. This is a small adjustment that can have a real impact on both comfort and monthly energy bills.

Electrical Connection Inspection

Loose or corroded electrical connections inside HVAC equipment are a leading cause of system failures and, in serious cases, fire hazards. We inspect all electrical components, contacts, and wiring during maintenance visits. Given the custom construction common in Dripping Springs, systems vary widely and thorough electrical checks are a non-negotiable part of every visit.

Learn More

Condensate Drain Cleaning

During humid Texas summers, your AC produces a significant amount of condensation that drains away through a condensate line. When that line clogs, water backs up and can damage ceilings, walls, and flooring. We flush and clear condensate drains during maintenance to prevent water damage — a common issue in larger homes with longer drain runs.

Heat Pump Maintenance

Heat pumps are increasingly popular in newer Dripping Springs custom homes because they handle both heating and cooling efficiently. They have their own maintenance needs, including refrigerant checks, defrost cycle testing, and reversing valve inspection. We service all heat pump brands and make sure yours is ready for both summer cooling and winter heating duties.

Learn More

Mini-Split System Maintenance

Many Dripping Springs homeowners use mini-split systems for guest quarters, casitas, workshops, or additions that aren't connected to the main duct system. Mini-splits need regular filter cleaning, coil maintenance, and refrigerant checks just like any other HVAC equipment. We service all major mini-split brands and keep these systems running quietly and efficiently.

Full System Assessment and Replacement Guidance

If your HVAC system is aging or showing signs of repeated problems, we'll give you an honest assessment of whether maintenance makes sense or whether replacement is the smarter long-term investment. We don't push replacements to pad a ticket — but we also won't let you keep spending money on a system that's ready to be retired.

We Know Dripping Springs Homes

Dripping Springs is a community of custom homes, ranchettes, and properties that were built to take advantage of the Hill Country landscape rather than to fit a cookie-cutter neighborhood mold. That means HVAC systems vary enormously from one address to the next — different brands, different configurations, different ages, and sometimes equipment that was spec'd for a much larger or smaller home than what was eventually built. Our technicians have worked on enough of these properties to know that you can't rely on assumptions out here.

The environment itself creates challenges that don't exist in a typical suburban Austin neighborhood. Cedar and scrub oak pollen load up filters faster than homeowners expect, caliche dust works its way into outdoor units, and the temperature swings between a cold front and the following afternoon can be dramatic enough to stress equipment that hasn't been properly maintained. Add in the fact that many Dripping Springs homes are on well water, which means no city water pressure to assist with condensate systems, and you start to understand why local knowledge genuinely matters when it comes to maintaining HVAC equipment in this community.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance for my Dripping Springs home?
Most HVAC professionals recommend two maintenance visits per year — one in the spring before cooling season and one in the fall before heating season. In Dripping Springs, the cooling season is long and demanding, so the spring tune-up is especially important. If your system is older or has a history of issues, staying on a consistent twice-yearly schedule helps you catch problems before they turn into failures during the worst possible time of year.
How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance for my Dripping Springs home?
A thorough HVAC maintenance visit covers your air filter, evaporator and condenser coils, refrigerant level, thermostat calibration, electrical connections, condensate drain, and overall system operation. For most Dripping Springs homes, a maintenance visit takes between 60 and 90 minutes depending on the size and complexity of your system. Larger custom homes with zoned systems or multiple units will take longer, and we'll let you know what to expect when you schedule.
Does the Hill Country environment affect how often I need to service my HVAC system?
Yes, meaningfully so. Cedar and oak pollen, caliche dust, and the debris that blows across open acreage properties in Dripping Springs load up filters and coils faster than you'd see in a dense urban neighborhood. Outdoor units on properties with a lot of vegetation or unpaved roads tend to collect debris more quickly around the condenser. Staying on a regular maintenance schedule — and checking your filter every 30 to 45 days during heavy pollen season — helps your system handle these local conditions without losing efficiency.
How much does HVAC maintenance cost in Dripping Springs?
A standard HVAC maintenance visit in the Dripping Springs area typically runs between $80 and $150 for a single system, depending on the scope of the inspection and any work performed during the visit. Homes with multiple systems, heat pumps, or mini-splits may be priced differently. Cold is on the Right provides upfront pricing before any work begins, so you'll always know exactly what you're paying for. Some homeowners find that a maintenance plan covering both seasonal visits offers better overall value.
My HVAC system seems to be running fine — do I really need maintenance if nothing is wrong?
A system that seems to be running fine can still have refrigerant slowly leaking, a capacitor approaching failure, or a condensate drain that's partially blocked and getting worse. These problems don't always show obvious symptoms until they cause a sudden breakdown. Regular maintenance catches these issues when they're inexpensive to fix rather than after they've taken out a compressor or caused water damage. In Dripping Springs, where a service call requires a technician to make the drive out, preventing failures ahead of time is always the smarter play.
Can you service HVAC systems on properties with well water and septic systems?
Absolutely. A large percentage of Dripping Springs properties use well water and septic systems, and our technicians are very familiar with working on homes with these setups. HVAC maintenance itself doesn't directly involve your water supply, but we're mindful of how condensate drainage is handled on properties without city sewer connections, and we work around existing infrastructure without causing problems. If you have questions about how your HVAC system interacts with other systems on your property, we're happy to walk through it with you on the call when you schedule.
