About Our Heating Repairs in Cedar Park

Cedar Park has become one of the fastest-growing communities in the Austin area, and that growth has brought a wide range of housing stock. Newer subdivisions like Whitestone Estates and Riverview feature homes with modern HVAC equipment that may still be under manufacturer warranty, while older neighborhoods closer to US-183 have systems that are well past the ten-year mark and starting to show wear. Knowing which issues are common at each stage of a system's life is exactly what makes a difference when your heat goes out.

Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air serves Cedar Park families with the kind of hands-on heating repair service that actually solves the problem. Whether your furnace is short-cycling, your heat pump lost its heating mode, or your system is running but not warming the house, we troubleshoot thoroughly and fix it right. We know Cedar Park homeowners are busy, and we respect your time with accurate arrival windows and clear communication from the first call.

Heating Repairs We Provide in Cedar Park

Furnace Repair

When your furnace stops producing heat or starts behaving erratically, a proper diagnosis is the first step. In Cedar Park's older neighborhoods, furnaces that are 12 to 18 years old are common, and they tend to fail in predictable ways — cracked heat exchangers, worn igniters, and failing blower motors are issues we see regularly. We get your furnace running safely and efficiently again.

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps are popular in Cedar Park homes for their year-round efficiency, but they can lose heating capacity when refrigerant is low, reversing valves fail, or defrost cycles malfunction. With Cedar Park's mild-but-real winters, a heat pump that struggles below 40 degrees is a real problem for families counting on consistent comfort. We diagnose and repair heat pump issues to get your system back to full performance.

Furnace Replacement

Sometimes a furnace has been patched one too many times and repair no longer makes financial sense. If your Cedar Park home has a furnace that's 15-plus years old and requires repeated service calls, replacement is often the smarter investment. We help you choose the right system for your home size and budget, and we install it correctly the first time.

Learn More

Furnace Installation

Whether you're upgrading from an older system or installing heating in a new addition, a proper furnace installation sets the foundation for years of reliable comfort. In Cedar Park's newer developments, homes are often built with ductwork designed for specific equipment sizes — using the wrong unit can lead to uneven heating and higher energy bills. We size and install furnaces correctly for your specific home layout.

HVAC System Repair

When your heating problem points to the broader HVAC system — control board failures, wiring issues, thermostat communication errors, or blower system faults — you need a technician who can look at the full picture. Cedar Park homes with dual-zone systems or smart thermostats sometimes have more complex diagnostics involved. We work through it systematically so you get a real fix rather than a temporary patch.

Learn More

Thermostat Diagnostics and Repair

A thermostat that's miscalibrated, wired incorrectly, or simply failing can make a perfectly good heating system seem broken. In Cedar Park's newer homes, smart and programmable thermostats are standard equipment, and compatibility issues or software faults can prevent the furnace from firing properly. We diagnose thermostat problems quickly and make sure your heating system responds the way it should.

Igniter and Flame Sensor Repair

Faulty igniters and dirty or failed flame sensors are among the most common reasons a gas furnace won't light or keeps shutting off shortly after starting. These are small components, but when they fail, your system is completely useless on a cold night. We carry the most common replacement parts so repairs can often be completed in a single visit.

Blower Motor Repair and Replacement

The blower motor is what pushes heated air through your ductwork and into every room of your Cedar Park home. A failing blower motor may cause weak airflow, loud squealing or grinding noises, or a furnace that overheats and shuts down. Early blower motor repairs are almost always less expensive than a full replacement, so getting it looked at quickly matters.

Heat Exchanger Inspection and Repair

A cracked heat exchanger is a serious issue because it allows combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, to mix with the air circulating through your home. Older furnaces in Cedar Park's established neighborhoods are more susceptible to this type of failure as the metal fatigues over time. We inspect heat exchangers thoroughly and give you an honest assessment of whether repair or replacement is the safer path.

Ductwork Leak Repair

Leaky ductwork can account for a significant loss in heating efficiency, and in Cedar Park homes — particularly those with ductwork running through unconditioned attic spaces — leaks are surprisingly common. If certain rooms in your home never seem to reach the right temperature, duct leaks could be the culprit rather than the heating unit itself. We locate and seal leaks to restore balanced, efficient heat distribution throughout your home.

Emergency Heating Repairs

A heating system that goes down overnight or during a cold front doesn't wait for business hours, and neither do we. Cedar Park families with young children or elderly residents especially can't afford to wait days for service when temperatures drop into the 30s. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air offers emergency heating repair to get your home warm again as fast as possible.

We Know Cedar Park Homes

Cedar Park is a community built in waves, and that shows up clearly in the HVAC work we do here. Neighborhoods near Cypress Creek and along FM 1431 have homes from the early 2000s where the original HVAC systems are hitting that 15 to 20-year window — the age when heat exchangers crack, blower motors wear out, and control boards start failing unpredictably. Newer developments closer to 183A often have higher-efficiency systems that require specific diagnostic tools and manufacturer knowledge to service properly.

We've also seen how Cedar Park's position on the edge of the Hill Country affects heating systems. Dusty conditions during dry stretches mean filters clog faster and air handling components accumulate debris more quickly than in areas closer to Austin proper. Add in the wide temperature swings Cedar Park can see between a mild afternoon and a cold night, and you have a real test for any heating system. We know these homes, we know the patterns, and we know how to fix them the right way.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a heating repair typically cost in Cedar Park?
Heating repair costs in Cedar Park vary based on what's wrong and what part of the system is affected. Simple fixes like a failed igniter or a thermostat replacement might run $150 to $300, while more involved repairs like a blower motor replacement or a failed control board can range from $350 to $700 or more. If your heat exchanger has cracked, that often leads to a conversation about replacement rather than repair since the cost of that fix can approach or exceed the value of an older unit. We always give you the price before starting any work so there are no surprises.
My furnace is running but the house isn't getting warm — what could be causing that?
A furnace that runs but doesn't heat effectively is one of the more common complaints we see in Cedar Park, and there are several likely causes. Ductwork leaks are a frequent culprit in older homes, especially when ducts run through unconditioned attic space and have developed gaps or separations over time. A dirty air filter can also restrict airflow enough that the heat produced never makes it through the house properly. Other possibilities include a failing heat exchanger, a gas valve that's not fully opening, or a blower motor that's running but not at full capacity. A proper diagnosis will identify the specific cause quickly.
How long does a heating repair visit usually take?
Most heating repair visits in Cedar Park take between one and two hours from diagnosis to completion. Simple repairs like igniter replacement or thermostat fixes can be done in under an hour, especially when we have the right parts on the truck. More complex issues involving the heat exchanger, blower motor, or gas valve may take a bit longer, and in some cases we may need to source a specific part and schedule a follow-up if it's not something we carry. We'll give you a realistic time estimate once we've diagnosed the problem so you know what to expect.
Is it worth repairing my furnace, or should I just replace it?
The general rule of thumb is to compare the repair cost against 50% of the cost of a new system — if the repair exceeds that threshold, replacement often makes more financial sense. For Cedar Park homeowners with furnaces that are 15 years or older, that math shifts more quickly toward replacement since older equipment is also less efficient and more likely to need another repair soon. A furnace under 10 years old that needs a single repair is almost always worth fixing. We'll give you our honest recommendation based on the age of your system, the nature of the problem, and what a new unit would actually cost — not just push you toward the more expensive option.
What should I check before calling for a heating repair?
Before calling, it's worth checking a few quick things that can sometimes resolve the issue without a service visit. First, make sure your thermostat is set to heat mode and the temperature is set above the current room temperature. Check your air filter — a completely clogged filter can cause a furnace to shut off on a safety limit and simply won't restart until the filter is changed. Confirm your circuit breaker for the furnace hasn't tripped, and if you have a gas furnace, verify the gas supply valve near the unit is in the open position. If none of those solve it, it's time to give us a call because the problem is likely mechanical.
