About Our Leak Detection Services in Bee Cave

Bee Cave is home to some of the most beautifully built properties in the greater Austin area, and the homeowners here expect their plumbing to perform just as well as everything else in their home. But even high-quality construction can develop leaks over time — from shifting Hill Country soil and root intrusion to minor installation issues that go unnoticed until the water bill climbs. Our licensed plumbers bring specialized equipment and genuine expertise to every job, finding the source of the problem without tearing apart your home in the process.

Whether we're tracing a pressure drop through your supply lines, scanning for moisture behind tile walls, or pinpointing a slab leak beneath your floor, we treat every Bee Cave home with the care it deserves. We explain what we find in plain language, give you real options, and never pad a quote with unnecessary work. If there's a leak, we'll find it — and we'll fix it right.

Leak Detection Services We Provide in Bee Cave

Slab Leak Detection

The Hill Country terrain around Bee Cave means soil shifts are a real concern, and those shifts can stress the pipes running beneath your foundation. Our plumbers use electronic amplification and thermal imaging to pinpoint slab leaks without unnecessary demolition. Catching a slab leak early protects your foundation, flooring, and the structural integrity of your home.

Underground Pipe Leak Detection

Expansive lots and professionally landscaped yards throughout Bee Cave make underground leak detection particularly important — a buried leak can silently damage irrigation lines, main water lines, or sewer pipes before any surface signs appear. We use pressure testing and ground-penetrating detection tools to locate breaks and leaks beneath your property without unnecessary digging. Once found, we give you clear repair options before any work begins.

Bathroom and Kitchen Leak Detection

Modern kitchens and spa-style bathrooms in Bee Cave homes often feature complex plumbing configurations behind custom cabinetry and high-end tile work. When a slow leak develops inside a wall or under a vanity, it can compromise expensive finishes and encourage mold growth before you ever notice the moisture. We locate these leaks with minimal intrusion so your finishes stay intact.

Learn More

Water Line Leak Detection

A compromised main water line is one of the fastest ways to see your water bill spike without an obvious explanation. In Bee Cave's newer developments, water lines are often longer runs through larger lots, which means leaks can develop at connection points or from ground movement far from the structure. We trace the entire line, identify the failure point, and get your system back to full pressure.

Learn More

Whole House Leak Inspection

If you suspect something is off but can't pinpoint where the water is going, a whole house leak inspection gives you a complete picture of your plumbing system's health. We methodically assess supply lines, fixtures, valves, and drain connections throughout your home to find any active or developing leaks. It's the kind of thorough service that Bee Cave homeowners count on to protect a significant investment.

Irrigation and Outdoor Leak Detection

Bee Cave homes often feature elaborate irrigation systems that run across large properties, and a single broken head or cracked lateral line can waste hundreds of gallons per day. We detect leaks in outdoor plumbing and irrigation infrastructure using the same precision equipment we use indoors. Protecting your landscaping investment starts with knowing your water isn't disappearing underground.

Gas Line Leak Detection

Many Bee Cave homes are outfitted with natural gas for cooking, heating, and outdoor entertaining — and gas line leaks require immediate, professional attention. Our licensed plumbers are equipped to detect gas leaks safely and accurately, protecting your family and your home. If you suspect a gas leak, do not wait — call us right away.

Emergency Leak Detection

Some leaks can't wait until morning — a sudden pressure drop, water appearing in unexpected places, or the sound of running water with no fixture on are all signs you need help now. Cold is on the Right offers emergency leak detection services for Bee Cave homeowners when the situation is urgent. We respond quickly, work efficiently, and make sure the source of the problem is found and addressed.

Learn More

Thermal Imaging Leak Detection

Thermal imaging allows us to detect temperature differences inside walls and under floors that indicate moisture — all without cutting into a single surface. This is especially valuable in Bee Cave homes where premium finishes, custom tile, and high-end drywall are not things you want disturbed unnecessarily. Non-invasive, accurate, and fast — it's the modern standard for leak detection in upscale homes.

Learn More

Pool and Spa Leak Detection

Pools and spas are common features in Bee Cave's luxury homes, and even a small leak in a pool shell or return line can lead to significant water loss and structural damage over time. We diagnose pool and spa leaks using pressure testing and dye testing methods to isolate exactly where water is escaping. Early detection keeps your pool equipment and surrounding hardscape in good shape.

Repiping After Chronic Leaks

If your home has experienced repeated leaks in the same general area, the underlying pipes may be the real issue — not just an isolated failure. Our team can assess whether a targeted repipe is the smarter long-term solution compared to repeated spot repairs. For Bee Cave homeowners who want a permanent fix and peace of mind, repiping is often the right investment.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Most of Bee Cave's residential neighborhoods were built within the last 15 to 20 years, which means the plumbing systems are relatively modern — but that doesn't mean they're problem-free. Newer construction in this area often used PEX supply lines and larger pipe runs to serve the square footage of these homes, and while PEX holds up well, fittings, transitions, and pressure regulators can still develop issues over time, particularly in the Hill Country's heat cycles.

The terrain around Bee Cave adds its own layer of complexity. Caliche-heavy soil and the rocky substrate common near the Lake Travis corridor can shift seasonally, putting stress on underground lines and slab penetrations that even well-built homes weren't designed to absorb indefinitely. We've worked throughout this area long enough to know what to look for and where, and that local knowledge makes every leak detection call faster and more accurate than starting from scratch.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have a slab leak in my Bee Cave home?
Common signs of a slab leak include warm spots on your floor, the sound of running water when all fixtures are off, unexplained increases in your water bill, and moisture or mold appearing at floor level near walls. In Bee Cave, the rocky Hill Country soil can shift seasonally, which puts stress on the pipes that pass through or under your slab. If you notice any of these signs, it's worth having a plumber investigate before the leak worsens and causes foundation damage. Slab leak detection typically involves acoustic listening equipment or thermal imaging and can often be performed without any demolition upfront.
How much does leak detection cost in Bee Cave?
The cost of professional leak detection in Bee Cave typically ranges from $150 to $400 depending on the complexity of the job and the type of detection method required. Simple fixture or supply line leaks are generally on the lower end, while slab leak detection or whole-house inspections that require multiple methods may fall higher in that range. At Cold is on the Right, we provide upfront pricing before any work begins so there are no surprises. The cost of detection is almost always far less than the cost of the water damage, mold remediation, or foundation repairs that result from leaving a leak unresolved.
My water bill went up but I can't find any visible leaks — what should I do?
An unexplained increase in your water bill is one of the most reliable indicators of a hidden leak somewhere in your plumbing system. The leak could be underground, inside a wall cavity, beneath your slab, or in your irrigation system — none of which are visible to the naked eye. A simple first step is to turn off all water in your home and check whether your water meter is still moving; if it is, water is leaving your system somewhere. A professional leak detection service uses specialized equipment to trace the pressure drop and locate exactly where water is escaping, usually without any demolition.
Will leak detection damage my floors or walls?
Modern leak detection is designed to be as non-invasive as possible, and in most cases your floors, walls, and finishes will not be disturbed at all during the detection phase. We use thermal imaging cameras and acoustic listening devices to identify leak locations from the surface before any physical access is needed. In Bee Cave homes with premium tile, hardwood flooring, and custom cabinetry, this matters — we locate the problem precisely so that if any access is required for repair, it's targeted and minimal. You'll know exactly what's needed before we touch anything.
How long does a leak detection appointment typically take?
Most standard leak detection appointments in a single-family Bee Cave home take between one and three hours, depending on the size of the property and the complexity of the suspected leak. Larger lots with extensive irrigation systems or homes with multiple suspected leak sources may take longer. A whole-house inspection takes more time than a targeted investigation of one specific area. Our plumbers work efficiently and will give you a realistic time estimate when we assess the job, along with a full explanation of what the inspection will cover.
Can newer homes in Bee Cave really have serious leaks?
Yes — newer construction is not immune to leaks, and homes in Bee Cave built in the last 10 to 20 years can develop plumbing issues for several reasons. PEX fittings and push-fit connections can fail under sustained pressure or temperature cycling, particularly in attic spaces that experience extreme heat during Austin summers. Soil movement from caliche and limestone substrate near the Lake Travis area can stress underground lines and slab penetrations over time. Installation quality also varies between builders, and minor issues that weren't caught during construction can develop into significant leaks years later. Routine inspection is a smart investment for any homeowner, regardless of how new the home is.
