Garbage Disposal Services We Provide in Bee Cave

Garbage Disposal Repair

If your disposal is humming, jamming, or leaking, our plumbers will diagnose the issue and fix it on the spot when possible. Bee Cave homes often have higher-capacity units that are worth repairing rather than replacing, and we'll give you an honest recommendation either way. We carry common replacement parts so most repairs are completed in a single visit.

Garbage Disposal Replacement

When a repair no longer makes sense, we'll help you choose the right replacement unit for your kitchen and install it cleanly and correctly. We work with all the major brands and can match or upgrade your existing system based on your household's needs. Our installations include proper wiring checks, drain connection, and a full test before we leave.

New Garbage Disposal Installation

Adding a garbage disposal to a kitchen that doesn't have one is a straightforward job for our team, but it requires proper plumbing and electrical coordination to do safely. We handle the full installation including drain line tie-in, switch wiring, and outlet confirmation so everything is up to code. This is a popular upgrade in Bee Cave homes that are being remodeled or flipped.

Disposal Jam Clearing

A jammed disposal is one of the most common calls we get, and it's often caused by the wrong food waste going down the drain in high-use kitchens. Our plumbers clear the jam, inspect the grinding components for damage, and walk you through what caused it so it doesn't happen again. We won't just reset the unit and leave — we make sure the underlying issue is addressed.

Drain Line Cleaning for Disposal Clogs

Garbage disposal waste can build up in the drain line over time, causing slow draining or backups in the sink. We clean out disposal-related drain clogs using professional equipment that clears the line fully rather than just pushing the blockage further down. This is especially relevant in homes where the disposal drains into a shared line with the dishwasher.

Learn More

Disposal Leak Repair

Leaks under the sink can come from the disposal's internal seals, the drain flange, or the discharge line connection, and each requires a different fix. Our plumbers identify exactly where the water is coming from and repair or reseal the correct component. Left unaddressed, disposal leaks can damage cabinetry in the high-end kitchens common throughout Bee Cave.

Garbage Disposal Upgrade

Many Bee Cave homeowners are upgrading from builder-grade disposals to quieter, higher-powered models that better suit an active kitchen. We help you select an upgrade that fits your plumbing configuration and install it with no mess and no guesswork. Premium models from brands like InSinkErator Evolution offer significantly quieter operation, which matters in open-concept kitchen and living spaces.

Emergency Garbage Disposal Service

A leaking disposal or a fully seized unit can quickly become a bigger plumbing problem if it's not handled promptly. Cold is on the Right offers emergency service for Bee Cave homeowners who can't wait for a next-day appointment. Call us and we'll get a licensed plumber to your door as quickly as possible.

Disposal and Dishwasher Drain Connection Service

In many kitchens, the garbage disposal and dishwasher share a drain connection, and a problem with one can affect the other. We inspect and service this connection point to make sure both appliances are draining correctly and there's no cross-contamination risk. This is a detail that's easy to overlook but important for both sanitation and appliance performance.

Learn More

Disposal Reset and Electrical Troubleshooting

Sometimes a disposal that won't run has a simple fix — a tripped reset button or a GFCI outlet that needs to be reset. Our plumbers check the full electrical path to the unit so we're not leaving you with a disposal that trips out again an hour after we drive away. If the issue is wiring-related, we'll identify it and recommend the right next step.

Post-Renovation Disposal Inspection

Kitchen remodels in Bee Cave often involve moving plumbing, replacing countertops, and reinstalling appliances — and the disposal connection doesn't always get the attention it deserves during that process. We perform post-renovation inspections to confirm the unit is properly seated, the drain connection is sealed, and the electrical is correct. It's a small step that prevents bigger headaches down the road.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Most of the homes we service in Bee Cave were built in the last 10 to 20 years, which means the plumbing systems are generally in good shape — but newer doesn't always mean trouble-free. Builder-grade garbage disposals installed during original construction often don't hold up well to the demands of a busy household, and we see a lot of disposal replacements in homes that are only five or six years old. We're familiar with the plumbing configurations common in Bee Cave subdivisions and can work efficiently in these kitchens without tearing things apart unnecessarily.

The Lake Travis area also means homes that draw on well water in some pockets, and mineral content in the water can accelerate wear on disposal components and drain lines. Beyond that, the Hill Country heat means kitchens get heavy use year-round, which puts more wear on disposal systems than many homeowners expect. When you call Cold is on the Right, you're getting a team that understands what Bee Cave homes are actually made of — not a technician reading from a generic checklist.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does garbage disposal replacement cost in Bee Cave?
Garbage disposal replacement in Bee Cave typically runs between $250 and $600 depending on the unit you choose and the complexity of the installation. Builder-grade units are on the lower end, while premium quiet-operation models like the InSinkErator Evolution series cost more but are a worthwhile upgrade for open-concept kitchens. Labor is generally consistent, but if the drain line or electrical connection needs work, that can add to the total. We provide upfront pricing before any work begins so you know exactly what you're approving.
Is it worth repairing a garbage disposal or should I just replace it?
It depends on the age of the unit and what's wrong with it. Disposals under five years old with a single issue — a worn seal, a jammed plate, a loose drain connection — are usually worth repairing. Units that are eight or more years old, making excessive noise, or failing repeatedly are often better replaced. Many Bee Cave homes have builder-installed disposals that were never top-of-the-line to begin with, so a replacement can actually be an upgrade in performance and noise level. We'll give you an honest recommendation based on what we find.
What can't I put in my garbage disposal?
The most common culprits we see causing jams and clogs in Bee Cave kitchens are fibrous foods like celery and artichoke, starchy foods like potato peels and pasta, coffee grounds, eggshells, and grease or cooking oil. Grease is particularly problematic because it coats the drain line over time and causes slow draining even when the disposal itself is working fine. Bones and fruit pits will damage the grinding plate quickly. The general rule is that if it wouldn't dissolve easily in water, it shouldn't go down the disposal.
Why does my garbage disposal smell bad even after I clean it?
Persistent odors usually mean food waste has built up in the splash guard, under the grinding plate, or in the drain line beyond the disposal itself. Cleaning the visible parts of the disposal helps, but the splash guard — the rubber flap at the top — is often the biggest offender and needs to be scrubbed underneath. If the smell persists after a thorough cleaning, the issue may be in the drain line, where buildup has accumulated over time. A professional drain cleaning will clear that out completely and eliminate the odor at the source.
My disposal hums but won't spin — what does that mean?
A disposal that hums without spinning is almost always jammed. The motor is receiving power but the grinding plate is stuck, usually from a hard object like a bone fragment, a bottle cap, or a utensil that fell in. Most disposals have a hex key slot at the bottom of the unit that allows you to manually free the plate — but if that doesn't work or you're not comfortable doing it, a plumber can clear it quickly. Leaving a disposal in this state for too long can burn out the motor, which would require full replacement.
How long does a garbage disposal installation take?
A straightforward garbage disposal replacement typically takes between 30 minutes and an hour for an experienced plumber. If it's a first-time installation in a sink that didn't previously have one, it can take one to two hours depending on whether a dedicated electrical outlet is already in place under the sink. We come prepared for the most common configurations found in Bee Cave homes so we rarely have to make an extra trip for parts. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we arrive after seeing the setup.
