About Our Heating Repairs in Steiner Ranch

Steiner Ranch is home to a lot of upscale properties built between 2000 and 2015, which means many heating systems are now entering the age range where components start to wear out. Capacitors fail, heat exchangers crack, ignitors weaken, and blower motors lose efficiency — these aren't emergencies you see coming until the night temperatures drop. Cold is on the Right provides thorough heating repairs for the makes and models common in these newer-build homes, getting your system back to full performance without the upsell pressure.

Living near Lake Travis adds some nuance to heating and HVAC performance in this area. Humidity fluctuations and the occasional cold front rolling off the Highland Lakes can stress systems that aren't dialed in properly. We treat every repair call in Steiner Ranch as an opportunity to make sure your system is genuinely ready for whatever winter brings, not just patched together until next season.

Heating Repairs We Provide in Steiner Ranch

Furnace Repair

From faulty ignitors and cracked heat exchangers to failed control boards, furnace problems in Steiner Ranch's 2000s-era homes tend to follow predictable patterns. We diagnose the issue accurately the first time and get your furnace running safely and efficiently. No guesswork, no unnecessary part swaps.

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps are a popular heating and cooling choice in Steiner Ranch's newer construction homes. When refrigerant levels drop, reversing valves stick, or compressors start struggling, your heat pump loses the efficiency it was designed for. We repair all major heat pump brands and restore both heating and cooling performance.

HVAC System Repair

Your heating and cooling system works as one unit, and when something goes wrong it can affect the whole picture. We handle full HVAC system diagnostics and repairs for the residential systems commonly installed in Steiner Ranch homes throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Whether it's airflow issues, thermostat problems, or component failure, we cover it.

Learn More

Thermostat Repair and Replacement

A malfunctioning thermostat can make a perfectly good heating system behave erratically — short cycling, not reaching temperature, or simply not responding. Many Steiner Ranch homes are set up with smart or programmable thermostats that require proper calibration and wiring. We'll confirm the thermostat is the culprit before recommending any fix.

Ignitor and Pilot Light Repair

If your furnace won't fire up on a cold morning, a failed ignitor or pilot light issue is often the cause. This is one of the more common repairs we see in furnaces that are 10 to 15 years old — which puts a lot of Steiner Ranch systems right in that window. Replacement is typically quick and affordable when caught early.

Blower Motor Repair

The blower motor pushes conditioned air through your home's ductwork, and when it starts to fail you'll notice weak airflow, unusual noise, or rooms that just won't reach the set temperature. In the larger square-footage homes common in Steiner Ranch, a struggling blower motor makes itself known quickly. We repair or replace blower motors and test airflow output before leaving.

Heat Exchanger Inspection and Repair

A cracked heat exchanger is one of the more serious furnace issues because it allows combustion gases to mix with your home's air supply. This is a safety concern that warrants immediate attention, and it becomes more common as furnaces age past the 10-year mark. We inspect heat exchangers thoroughly and provide honest guidance on whether repair or replacement is the right path.

Capacitor and Contactor Replacement

Capacitors and contactors are small components that fail regularly as HVAC systems age, and they're often the reason a system won't start or shuts off unexpectedly. These are quick repairs when handled by a technician who knows what to look for. We stock common parts so many of these repairs can be completed during the initial visit.

Ductwork Inspection and Sealing

Leaky ductwork undermines heating efficiency and leaves some rooms in your home cold regardless of how hard the system works. Many Steiner Ranch homes have attic-run duct systems that can develop gaps or separations over time, especially with seasonal temperature swings. We inspect duct runs and seal problem areas to improve airflow and reduce energy waste.

Furnace Replacement

When a furnace has reached the end of its service life or the cost of repair no longer makes sense, we'll walk you through replacement options that fit your home and budget. Steiner Ranch homeowners expect quality installs, and we don't cut corners on equipment selection or installation quality.

Furnace Installation

Whether you're upgrading an outdated system or installing heating in a new addition, proper furnace installation makes a real difference in long-term performance and efficiency. We size equipment correctly for your home's square footage and ensure every installation meets code requirements for the Steiner Ranch area.

We Know Steiner Ranch Homes

Most of the homes we service in Steiner Ranch were built between 2000 and 2015 — high-quality construction, larger square footage, and systems that were top of the line when they went in. Now those same systems are hitting the 10 to 20-year mark, which is exactly when components start to wear in predictable ways. We've worked in enough of these homes to know which brands are common here, how they're typically configured, and where the trouble spots tend to show up first.

The location adds another layer worth knowing. The Hill Country climate around Lake Travis isn't as mild as it seems — cold fronts hit hard and fast in January and February, and humidity from the lake can affect how efficiently a heat pump moves heat in and out of your home. HOA standards in Steiner Ranch mean homeowners expect clean, professional work that leaves no trace of a rushed job. That's exactly what we bring every time we pull into a driveway here.

High Fives from Steiner Ranch Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a heating repair typically cost in Steiner Ranch?
Heating repair costs in Steiner Ranch vary depending on what's failing and the make and model of your system. Minor repairs like ignitor replacements or capacitor swaps often run between $150 and $350. More involved repairs like blower motor replacement or control board issues can run $400 to $800 or more. We provide a firm quote before any work begins so you know what you're committing to.
My furnace is about 15 years old — is it worth repairing or should I replace it?
A 15-year-old furnace in Steiner Ranch is right at the age where this question makes a lot of sense. The general rule is that if the repair cost exceeds half the cost of a replacement unit, and the system is showing broader signs of wear, replacement is usually the smarter investment. That said, a well-maintained system with one failed component can often get several more good years with the right repair. We'll give you an honest assessment either way.
Why are some rooms in my Steiner Ranch home much colder than others?
Uneven heating in larger homes like those common in Steiner Ranch is usually caused by ductwork issues, a struggling blower motor, or an undersized system that can't adequately serve all zones. It can also be a sign of a failing heat exchanger or low refrigerant in a heat pump. We'll inspect the full system to find the source rather than just adjusting a vent and calling it done.
How does Lake Travis proximity affect heating systems in this area?
Living near Lake Travis means your home is exposed to higher humidity levels than properties further inland, which can affect heat pump efficiency and accelerate wear on certain components over time. Cold Hill Country fronts that move through the area can also put a heavy sudden load on systems that haven't been serviced in a while. Keeping your system properly maintained and catching small issues early matters more in this environment than many homeowners realize.
What should I do if my heat stops working on a cold night?
First, check your thermostat settings to make sure it's set to heat and the temperature is set above the current room temperature. Check your air filter — a severely clogged filter can cause a furnace to shut down on a safety limit. Also check your circuit breaker panel for any tripped breakers connected to the HVAC system. If none of those fix it, give us a call. We offer emergency heating repairs and can often get a technician to Steiner Ranch the same night.
How long does a typical heating repair take?
Most straightforward heating repairs take between one and two hours from arrival to completion. More complex repairs involving part orders or extensive diagnostics can take longer, and we'll let you know upfront if we expect the job to extend beyond a single visit. We stock commonly needed parts so many repairs are resolved during the first appointment without a waiting period for parts.
