About Our Furnace Replacement in Steiner Ranch

Steiner Ranch is a master-planned community where homes tend to run large, well-appointed, and built between 2000 and 2015. That means a significant number of original furnaces in the neighborhood are now hitting the 10-to-20-year mark — exactly the window when efficiency drops, repair costs climb, and replacement starts making more financial sense than continuing to patch an aging system. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air has helped many Steiner Ranch homeowners navigate that decision with honest assessments and straightforward options.

From the lakeside sections near Lake Travis to the hillside streets with sprawling floor plans, we know that heating needs in this community vary by home size, layout, and exposure. We carry and install systems from trusted brands, walk you through your options without the sales pressure, and make sure the installation is done to code and properly permitted. When you call us, you get a licensed HVAC technician who treats your home with the care it deserves.

Furnace Replacement Services We Provide in Steiner Ranch

Full Furnace System Replacement

When your current furnace has reached the end of its useful life, a full replacement is often the smartest investment. We remove your old unit, install a properly sized replacement, and test the entire system before we leave. For Steiner Ranch homes with larger square footage and multi-zone layouts, correct sizing is critical to consistent comfort.

Furnace Installation for New or Renovated Spaces

Adding a room, finishing a bonus space, or upgrading your HVAC setup during a remodel? We handle furnace installations in new configurations as well as straightforward replacements. Steiner Ranch homeowners investing in home improvements deserve a heating solution that integrates cleanly with the rest of the system.

Repair vs. Replacement Evaluation

Not sure whether to repair or replace your furnace? We give you an honest, side-by-side breakdown of what each option costs and what you can realistically expect going forward. Steiner Ranch homes with original furnaces from the early 2000s are often at the tipping point where replacement pencils out better over a 5-year horizon.

High-Efficiency Furnace Upgrades

Upgrading to a high-efficiency furnace can meaningfully reduce your energy bills, especially in larger Steiner Ranch homes where the heating load is significant. Modern 96% AFUE systems extract far more heat from the same amount of fuel compared to equipment from a decade or two ago. We help you identify the right efficiency tier for your usage patterns and budget.

Two-Stage and Variable-Speed Furnace Replacement

Many Steiner Ranch homes have open floor plans and high ceilings that make consistent temperature distribution a challenge. Two-stage and variable-speed furnaces modulate their output rather than cycling on full blast, which improves comfort and reduces temperature swings throughout your home. We install and configure these systems to work with your existing ductwork and thermostat setup.

HVAC System Replacement (Matched System)

When your furnace goes, it often makes sense to evaluate the rest of the system at the same time. Replacing the furnace alongside the air handler or coil as a matched system improves efficiency and avoids compatibility issues down the road. We coordinate full HVAC replacement projects for Steiner Ranch homeowners who want the whole thing handled at once.

Thermostat and Control Upgrades

A new furnace paired with an outdated thermostat is a missed opportunity. We install and configure smart thermostats that work with your new system to maximize efficiency and give you remote control over your home's heating. For Steiner Ranch homeowners who travel or manage their home remotely, smart controls add real convenience.

Ductwork Inspection and Sealing

A new furnace can only perform as well as the duct system delivering its output. Before or during replacement, we inspect your existing ductwork for leaks, poor connections, or undersized runs that would undermine your new system's efficiency. This step is especially relevant in Steiner Ranch homes built in the early 2000s where duct sealing standards were less rigorous.

Carbon Monoxide and Safety Inspections

When a furnace is replaced, we perform a full safety check including heat exchanger inspection and carbon monoxide testing around the new unit and flue. Aging furnaces with cracked heat exchangers are one of the leading causes of CO exposure in residential homes, so this step is non-negotiable before we close out any replacement job.

Heating System Repairs Before or After Replacement

Sometimes a repair bridges the gap while you plan a replacement, or a component issue surfaces during installation that needs addressing. Our technicians handle heating repairs of all kinds to keep your system safe and functional throughout the process.

Learn More

Post-Installation System Commissioning and Testing

After every furnace replacement, we run a full commissioning sequence: airflow measurement, temperature rise verification, ignition testing, and a walkthrough of the new system with the homeowner. Steiner Ranch homeowners expect the job to be done right and documented, and that's exactly the standard we hold ourselves to.

We Know Steiner Ranch Homes

Most homes in Steiner Ranch were built between 2000 and 2015, which puts a large portion of the neighborhood's original HVAC equipment squarely in the 10-to-20-year age range. These systems were solid when they were installed, but they're now showing the wear patterns we see regularly: cracked heat exchangers, failing inducer motors, and efficiency ratings that made sense in 2004 but look pretty poor compared to what's available today. We've worked on enough of these homes to know what to expect before we even open the furnace cabinet.

The location matters too. Steiner Ranch's elevation and proximity to Lake Travis means temperatures can swing more dramatically than in the core of Austin, and the humidity near the water can accelerate corrosion on older equipment. Larger homes here also place a heavier demand on heating systems, which is why proper load calculation and equipment sizing is something we take seriously on every replacement. When we show up at your door, we're not guessing — we know this neighborhood.

High Fives from Steiner Ranch Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does furnace replacement cost in Steiner Ranch?
Furnace replacement in Steiner Ranch typically ranges from $3,000 to $7,500 or more depending on the size of your home, the efficiency rating of the system you choose, and whether any ductwork or electrical work needs to be updated at the same time. Larger homes in Steiner Ranch often require higher-capacity equipment, which moves costs toward the upper end of that range. High-efficiency systems cost more upfront but deliver measurable savings on monthly energy bills over their lifespan. We provide a fully itemized quote before any work begins so you know exactly what you're paying for.
How long does a furnace replacement take in Steiner Ranch?
Most furnace replacements in Steiner Ranch are completed in a single day, typically four to eight hours depending on the complexity of the installation. If ductwork modifications, permit inspections, or additional work are needed, the timeline may extend slightly. We coordinate permit requirements ahead of time to keep things moving. You'll have heat restored before the end of the day in the vast majority of cases.
How do I know if my furnace needs to be replaced or just repaired?
The general rule of thumb is to compare the repair cost against the age and value of your current system. If a repair costs more than half the price of a new unit, or if your furnace is already 15 or more years old, replacement usually makes more financial sense. Other strong indicators include a cracked heat exchanger, repeated breakdowns in the same season, or a system that simply can't maintain comfortable temperatures in a larger home regardless of repairs. We give you an honest side-by-side comparison so you can make an informed decision without pressure.
What furnace brands do you install in Steiner Ranch homes?
We install equipment from reputable manufacturers with proven track records for reliability and parts availability. During your assessment, we'll walk you through the options that make sense for your home's size, your comfort goals, and your budget. We don't push one brand over another for margin reasons — we recommend what we'd put in our own homes. Manufacturer warranties on new systems typically run five to ten years on parts, with some offering extended coverage on heat exchangers.
Will my HOA be affected by a furnace replacement in Steiner Ranch?
In most cases, furnace replacement work happens entirely inside your home or in a side-yard mechanical space and does not require HOA approval. If any exterior work is involved, such as new flue venting or a new pad for outdoor equipment, we'll flag that during the assessment so you can confirm with your HOA if needed. All of our installations are properly permitted through the city, which satisfies the documentation requirements many HOAs ask for. We're accustomed to working in planned communities and handle the process cleanly.
What size furnace does my Steiner Ranch home need?
Furnace sizing is based on a load calculation that accounts for your home's square footage, ceiling heights, insulation levels, window area, and local climate data. Steiner Ranch homes tend to be larger than average, which means many need systems in the 80,000 to 120,000 BTU range, but the right answer varies by the specifics of your home. Oversizing a furnace is actually a common mistake that leads to short cycling, uneven heating, and premature wear. We always perform a proper Manual J load calculation before recommending equipment so your new system is matched correctly to your home.
