About Our Heat Pump Installation in Spicewood

Spicewood properties aren't your typical suburban subdivision. Many homes sit on acreage, run on well water, and were built with older HVAC infrastructure that was never designed with today's efficiency standards in mind. Cold is on the Right installs modern heat pump systems that handle both heating and cooling from a single unit, which is a major advantage when you're managing a larger property and want to simplify your home's mechanical systems.

We understand that being 30 or 40 minutes from the nearest HVAC supply house means the job has to be done right the first time. Our technicians come prepared, communicate clearly, and won't leave you hanging with a half-finished install. Whether you're upgrading an aging system in an established Hill Country home or adding climate control to a newer build on raw land, we bring the expertise and accountability that Spicewood homeowners deserve.

Heat Pump Installation Services We Provide in Spicewood

New Heat Pump Installation

We install new air-source heat pump systems sized correctly for your Spicewood home, whether it's a 1,200-square-foot cabin or a sprawling 4,000-square-foot ranch house. Proper load calculation matters more than most homeowners realize, especially when you're dealing with high ceilings, open floor plans, and significant temperature swings common in the Hill Country. We handle everything from equipment selection to final commissioning.

Heat Pump Replacement

If your current system is aging, running constantly, or struggling to keep up with Spicewood's summer heat, it may be time for a full replacement rather than another round of repairs. We assess your existing setup, explain your options honestly, and install a modern system that performs better and costs less to run. Older Hill Country homes often have undersized or improperly matched equipment that a replacement can fully resolve.

Learn More

Mini-Split Heat Pump Installation

Mini-split systems are a natural fit for Spicewood properties with detached garages, guest casitas, barn apartments, or additions that aren't connected to existing ductwork. We install single-zone and multi-zone mini-splits that deliver precise comfort without requiring major renovation. They're quiet, efficient, and ideal for the kind of diverse structures you'll find on acreage properties throughout this area.

Ductless System Installation

Many Spicewood homes — especially older ones built before central HVAC became standard — have no existing ductwork, or ducts that are in poor condition after years of exposure to attic heat and Hill Country humidity. Ductless systems eliminate the efficiency losses that come with leaky ducts and give you room-by-room control that traditional systems can't match. We assess your home layout and design a ductless solution that fits.

Heat Pump System Sizing and Load Calculations

Getting the size right is the single most important factor in how well a heat pump performs over its lifetime. An oversized unit will short-cycle and wear out fast; an undersized one will run constantly without ever catching up on a 105-degree August afternoon. Our technicians perform full Manual J load calculations that account for your home's square footage, insulation, window placement, and the unique thermal characteristics of a Hill Country build.

Thermostat and Controls Upgrade

A new heat pump deserves controls that actually use its capabilities. We install and configure smart thermostats and zoning controls that let you manage comfort room by room, set schedules, and monitor energy use from your phone — useful when you're away from the property for stretches of time, which is common for Spicewood homeowners with second homes or weekend properties. We make sure the controls are fully integrated and easy to use.

Existing System Evaluation and Audit

Before recommending a new system, we take a hard look at what you already have. Sometimes the right answer is a targeted repair or a refrigerant recharge rather than a full replacement, and we'll tell you that honestly. For Spicewood homeowners who've inherited aging equipment from a previous owner, this evaluation gives you a clear picture of where things stand and what your options actually are.

Heat Pump Repair

When your heat pump stops working properly — whether it's losing heating capacity, making strange noises, or tripping the breaker — you need a technician who can diagnose and fix it without multiple trips or parts delays. We carry common replacement components and know the failure patterns that affect systems exposed to the Hill Country's dust, pollen, and temperature extremes. Fast, accurate repairs that get you back to comfortable.

HVAC Maintenance Plans

Heat pumps that run year-round — as they do in Central Texas — need regular maintenance to stay efficient and avoid costly breakdowns. We offer maintenance plans that include seasonal tune-ups, coil cleaning, refrigerant checks, and filter service. Staying ahead of wear is especially important for Spicewood properties where a breakdown in July means real discomfort, and the nearest hotel isn't exactly around the corner.

AC System Installation

Not every Spicewood home is the right fit for a heat pump, and in some cases a traditional split AC system paired with gas or propane heat makes more sense based on your existing infrastructure and energy costs. We install both and will recommend whichever system genuinely serves you better. Our goal is your comfort and long-term satisfaction, not steering you toward the most expensive option.

Learn More

Post-Installation Support and Warranty Guidance

After your new system is installed, we walk you through how to operate it, explain filter maintenance and seasonal care, and make sure you understand the manufacturer warranty coverage. If something doesn't feel right in the weeks after installation, call us and we'll come back out. Spicewood homeowners shouldn't have to chase their contractor — we stand behind every install we do.

We Know Spicewood Homes

Spicewood is a different world from the subdivisions on Austin's edge. Out here, properties tend to be larger, homes are often custom-built or built decades ago by previous owners with varying levels of craftsmanship, and mechanical systems sometimes reflect that patchwork history. We regularly work on homes with mix-and-match HVAC setups, propane systems that have been partially converted, or equipment that was clearly never sized correctly for the structure it's supposed to condition. Knowing what to look for — and knowing the difference between what's fixable and what needs to be replaced — is something that only comes with real field experience in this part of Texas.

The well water and septic systems common throughout Spicewood tell you something important about how residents out here approach their property: you rely on systems that have to work right the first time, because calling for a second visit is an imposition. That's exactly how we approach every job. Our technicians come out prepared, do the work correctly, and treat your property with the same respect they'd want shown to their own. We're not a call center dispatching strangers — we're a local team that understands Hill Country homes because we work in them every week.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!
