About Our Furnace Repair Services in Spicewood

Spicewood homes are a different animal from the cookie-cutter subdivisions closer to Austin. Many properties out here sit on acreage, run on propane rather than natural gas, and have HVAC equipment that's been working hard through years of dusty Hill Country summers and cold winter nights. Our technicians are familiar with the mix of older systems, newer custom builds, and everything in between that you find across Spicewood and the surrounding lake communities. We inspect every component, from the heat exchanger and burner assembly to the blower motor, thermostat wiring, and ductwork, so nothing gets missed.

When you're this far west of Austin, you need a contractor you can trust to show up prepared and get the repair done without a return visit. Cold is on the Right brings everything needed to properly diagnose and fix your furnace on the first call. We give you a clear picture of what's wrong, what it will cost, and what your options are before any work begins. No pressure, no inflated estimates, and no surprises on the invoice.

Furnace Repair Services We Provide in Spicewood

Gas and Propane Furnace Repair

Many Spicewood properties run on propane rather than natural gas, and our technicians work comfortably with both. We diagnose ignition failures, burner issues, faulty gas valves, and heat exchanger problems that are common in the systems found across rural Hill Country homes. Getting propane furnace repairs right matters out here, where a misdiagnosis means another long round trip for parts.

Electric Furnace Repair

Electric furnaces are common in Spicewood custom builds and newer construction homes where propane wasn't the preferred option. We troubleshoot and repair heating elements, sequencers, contactors, and control boards to restore consistent, reliable heat. If your electric furnace is cycling off too quickly or failing to produce adequate warmth, we'll find the root cause and fix it.

Learn More

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps are an efficient choice for the mild winters Spicewood typically sees, but they still break down and need professional attention. We service refrigerant levels, reversing valves, compressor issues, and defrost cycle problems that leave heat pumps struggling when temperatures actually drop. Our technicians understand how Hill Country temperature swings stress these systems and know where to look first.

Learn More

Furnace Ignition and Pilot Light Repair

A furnace that won't ignite is one of the most common calls we get from Spicewood homeowners in winter. Whether you have an older standing pilot or a modern electronic ignition system, we diagnose and replace faulty igniters, flame sensors, and control modules to get your furnace firing reliably again. This is a repair that needs to be done correctly the first time, especially on propane systems.

Learn More

Blower Motor and Fan Repair

If your furnace is running but the heat isn't moving through the house, a failing blower motor is often the culprit. We inspect motor bearings, capacitors, and fan belts, and we replace components that are causing reduced airflow or loud operation. On larger acreage homes with more ductwork to push through, a struggling blower motor makes itself known quickly in uneven temperatures from room to room.

Learn More

Thermostat Diagnosis and Repair

Sometimes the furnace itself is fine and the problem is a miscommunicating or failing thermostat. We test thermostat wiring, calibration, and compatibility with your heating system to make sure your furnace is receiving the right signals. In older Spicewood homes with original thermostats still on the wall, an upgrade can make an immediate difference in how consistently your system performs.

Learn More

Ductwork Inspection and Repair

Spicewood homes on acreage, especially those with crawl spaces or ducts running through unconditioned attic spaces, are prone to leaks, disconnections, and pest damage in the ductwork. We locate leaks and disconnected runs that waste heat before it ever reaches the living space. Sealing and repairing ductwork can have a bigger impact on comfort and efficiency than the furnace repair itself in some cases.

Learn More

Furnace Safety Inspections

A cracked heat exchanger or faulty flue connection is a serious safety issue that can go unnoticed for years in a rural home that doesn't get regular professional attention. We perform thorough safety inspections that check for carbon monoxide risks, combustion problems, and venting failures. For Spicewood homeowners who rely on propane, these inspections are an important layer of protection.

Learn More

Furnace Tune-Up and Maintenance

A furnace that goes into winter without a seasonal tune-up is far more likely to break down when you need it most. We clean burners and heat exchangers, check all electrical connections, lubricate moving parts, and test safety controls to keep your system running at full efficiency. Spicewood's dusty Hill Country environment can accelerate wear on furnace components, making annual maintenance more than just a good idea.

Learn More

Furnace Replacement

When repairs no longer make financial sense, we help Spicewood homeowners choose the right replacement furnace for their home size, fuel type, and budget. We handle the full installation and haul away the old equipment, leaving your home with a properly sized, correctly installed system. If you're transitioning from an aging unit in an older Hill Country home, we'll make sure the new system is set up for long-term reliability.

Learn More

New Furnace Installation

Whether you're building out a new custom home on acreage west of Austin or adding heating to a space that previously relied on other sources, we install furnaces that match the demands of your property. We handle propane and electric system installations, proper sizing calculations, and ductwork integration from start to finish. Getting the installation right the first time means fewer problems down the road in a location where service calls aren't quick or cheap.

We Know Spicewood Homes

Spicewood is a mix of longtime ranch properties, custom lakefront homes near Lake Travis, and newer acreage builds where owners wanted space and scenery over suburban convenience. A lot of these homes were built without municipal gas lines, so propane is the norm rather than the exception, and the HVAC systems reflect that. Older homes out here sometimes have equipment that's been running for fifteen or twenty years on minimal service, while newer custom builds occasionally have systems that were installed without enough attention to ductwork sizing for the actual square footage.

The Hill Country environment adds its own wear to heating and cooling equipment. Dust and cedar pollen are relentless, which shortens filter life and accelerates buildup inside furnace components. The temperature swings, warm afternoons and genuinely cold nights in winter, push systems through more cycles than you'd see in a more temperate climate. Our technicians know these patterns because we service homes throughout this stretch of Hill Country regularly. When we show up at a Spicewood property, we're not guessing at what we'll find.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!
