About Our Tankless Water Heater Installation in Leander

Leander has seen explosive growth over the last decade, and a huge portion of that growth means brand-new construction with brand-new systems. But new doesn't always mean worry-free. Many first-time homeowners in Leander aren't sure what type of water heater came with their home, how to maintain it, or when it's time to upgrade. At Cold is on the Right, we work with Leander families every day who are navigating these questions for the first time, and we make the process straightforward. We'll walk you through your options, explain what your household actually needs, and install a tankless system that delivers consistent hot water no matter how many people are showering, running the dishwasher, or doing laundry at once.

Leander's water supply is known for high mineral content, which can cause scale buildup inside tankless heat exchangers faster than homeowners expect. Our licensed technicians know how to account for local water conditions when sizing and installing your unit, and we can recommend the right filtration or descaling setup to protect your investment long-term. We provide upfront pricing before any work begins, and we're available for emergency service when you need us most.

Tankless Water Heater Repair

Error codes, fluctuating temperatures, or a unit that's stopped producing hot water are all signs your tankless system needs attention. Our technicians diagnose the problem quickly and get your system running again, so your family isn't left without hot water for long.

Water Heater Assessment and Sizing

Choosing the wrong size tankless water heater is one of the most common mistakes in new construction and upgrades alike. We evaluate your home's size, number of fixtures, and peak usage patterns to recommend a unit with the right flow rate and BTU capacity for your Leander household.

Gas Line Connection for Tankless Units

High-efficiency gas tankless water heaters require a dedicated gas line sized to handle the unit's demand. Our licensed plumbers assess your existing gas supply and make any necessary upgrades to ensure your new tankless unit operates safely and at full efficiency.

Learn More

Tankless Unit Venting and Exhaust Setup

Proper venting is critical for both safety and performance with gas tankless water heaters. We install direct vent and power vent configurations based on your home's layout, ensuring combustion gases are safely expelled and your unit meets all local code requirements in Leander.

Hot Water Recirculation System Installation

In larger Leander homes, waiting for hot water to reach a far-off bathroom is a real frustration. A recirculation system keeps hot water moving through your pipes so it's ready the moment you turn on the tap, reducing waste and improving comfort throughout the home.

Learn More

Descaling and Mineral Buildup Flush

Leander's hard water accelerates mineral buildup inside tankless heat exchangers, which reduces efficiency and shortens the unit's lifespan. We perform professional descaling flushes to clear out calcium and lime deposits, restoring your system's performance and protecting it from premature failure.

Learn More

Water Softener and Pre-Filter Integration

Pairing a tankless water heater with a whole-home water softener or inline sediment filter is especially important in Leander where water hardness is high. We can integrate these systems during installation to dramatically extend the life of your tankless unit and reduce maintenance needs.

Learn More

Tankless Water Heater Upgrade Consultation

Not sure if your current setup is right for your family's needs? We offer honest consultations where we review your existing system, your usage habits, and your home's infrastructure to give you a clear picture of whether upgrading to tankless makes sense and what it would cost.

We Know Leander Homes

Leander's housing stock is dominated by newer construction, with subdivisions that have gone up fast over the last ten to fifteen years across the 183A corridor and beyond. A lot of these homes came standard with builder-grade tank water heaters that were sized for a smaller household and weren't designed with longevity in mind. As families grow and hot water demand increases, those original units start struggling to keep up, and that's when we get the call.

Leander also sits in the Texas Hill Country's hard water belt, and the mineral content here is tough on water heaters, especially tankless units with narrow heat exchanger passages. First-time homeowners are often surprised by how quickly scale can affect performance if the system isn't properly maintained or paired with a softener. We factor all of this into every installation we do in Leander, because a system that's right for this community is different from one that works in other parts of the Austin metro.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does tankless water heater installation cost in Leander?
Tankless water heater installation in Leander typically ranges from $1,500 to $3,500 or more depending on the unit you choose, whether gas line modifications are needed, and the complexity of the venting setup. Gas tankless units with high flow rates tend to cost more upfront but deliver the greatest long-term energy savings. We provide upfront pricing before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect. Financing is available if you need flexibility with the cost.
Will a tankless water heater keep up with my whole family's hot water demand?
Yes, when sized correctly a tankless water heater can supply unlimited hot water to your entire household simultaneously. The key word is sizing. Many builder-grade systems in Leander were installed with just enough capacity for a smaller household, and as families grow the demand outpaces the unit. We evaluate your number of bathrooms, appliances, and peak usage habits to recommend a unit with the right flow rate in gallons per minute so you're never left waiting or running cold.
How does Leander's hard water affect a tankless water heater?
Leander's water has high mineral content, which causes calcium and lime scale to accumulate inside the heat exchanger of a tankless unit faster than in areas with softer water. Left unaddressed, this buildup reduces efficiency, increases energy use, and can cause the unit to fail earlier than expected. Annual descaling flushes are strongly recommended for Leander homes, and pairing your tankless unit with a water softener or sediment pre-filter can significantly extend its lifespan and reduce maintenance frequency.
How long does a tankless water heater installation take?
Most tankless water heater installations in Leander take between three and six hours depending on whether gas line work or new venting is required. If you're replacing a traditional tank unit with a tankless system for the first time, the job involves more steps than a straight unit swap, including removal of the old tank, potential gas supply upgrades, and mounting and venting the new unit. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we assess your home so you can plan your day accordingly.
Do I need a permit to install a tankless water heater in Leander?
Yes, most water heater installations in Leander require a permit through the City of Leander's building inspection department. This ensures the installation meets local safety codes, particularly for gas connections and venting. As licensed plumbers, we handle the permitting process as part of our installation service so you don't have to navigate it yourself. Skipping permits on a water heater installation can create problems when you sell your home, so doing it right from the start matters.
How long will a tankless water heater last compared to a traditional tank unit?
A well-maintained tankless water heater typically lasts 15 to 20 years, compared to 8 to 12 years for a standard tank water heater. In Leander, where hard water accelerates wear on both types of systems, regular maintenance makes a significant difference in reaching that full lifespan. Annual descaling flushes, inlet filter cleaning, and occasional professional inspections are the main things that keep a tankless unit running efficiently for the long haul. The longer lifespan is one of the primary reasons Leander homeowners find the higher upfront cost worth it over time.
