About Our HVAC Maintenance in Leander

Leander's housing boom brought thousands of new homes to the area, and many of those systems were installed during rapid construction cycles where speed mattered more than precision. That means filters get overlooked, ductwork gets installed quickly, and first-time homeowners often inherit systems they don't fully understand yet. At Cold is on the Right, we work with a lot of Leander homeowners who are getting their first maintenance visit and discovering things that should have been addressed from day one. We check everything, explain what we find in plain language, and give you a clear picture of where your system stands.

Regular maintenance in the Leander climate isn't optional — it's essential. Summers push your AC hard for months at a stretch, and when the temperature finally drops, your heating system needs to be ready too. We service all major HVAC brands and system types, and our upfront pricing means you'll never be surprised by the bill. For Leander families managing a lot of moving parts, that kind of reliability matters.

HVAC Maintenance Services We Provide in Leander

Annual AC Tune-Up

Leander summers are long and relentless, and an AC system that hasn't been serviced recently will work harder than it needs to. Our annual tune-up covers refrigerant levels, coil cleaning, electrical connections, thermostat calibration, and airflow testing. Catching small issues before peak season means fewer emergency calls and lower monthly energy bills.

Heating System Inspection and Tune-Up

Heating season in Leander may be short, but when a cold front moves through, your system needs to perform. We inspect your furnace or heat pump, check ignition components, test safety controls, and verify airflow throughout the home. First-time homeowners especially benefit from knowing their heating system is in good shape before temperatures drop.

Learn More

Air Filter Replacement and Airflow Testing

Clogged or incorrect filters are one of the most common issues we find in newer Leander homes. Construction dust and debris from surrounding development can load up filters faster than homeowners expect. We replace filters with the right fit for your system and test airflow across the home to confirm everything is moving efficiently.

Coil Cleaning

Dirty evaporator and condenser coils force your system to work harder, driving up energy costs and shortening equipment life. In Leander's dusty new-construction environment, coils can accumulate buildup faster than in more established neighborhoods. Regular coil cleaning keeps your system running at the efficiency level it was designed for.

Refrigerant Level Check

Low refrigerant is a sign of a leak, not just routine wear, and it can quietly drive up your energy bills while reducing cooling output. We check refrigerant levels during every maintenance visit and address any underlying issues before they escalate. For newer Leander homes still under warranty, proper refrigerant levels also protect that warranty status.

Thermostat Inspection and Calibration

A thermostat that reads temperatures inaccurately will cause your system to cycle too often or not enough, neither of which is good for efficiency or comfort. We test and calibrate your thermostat, and if you have a smart thermostat installed in your newer Leander home, we verify it's properly programmed for your household's schedule. Accurate readings mean better comfort and lower bills.

Ductwork Inspection

Leaky or poorly installed ductwork is surprisingly common in new construction, and Leander's rapid building pace has produced plenty of it. We inspect accessible ductwork for gaps, disconnections, and airflow restrictions that cause uneven temperatures from room to room. Addressing duct issues during maintenance prevents bigger problems down the road.

Electrical Component and Safety Control Check

Loose electrical connections and failing capacitors are among the most common causes of preventable AC and heating breakdowns. We inspect all electrical components, test safety controls, and tighten connections to reduce the risk of mid-summer failures. For families with young kids at home, knowing your system's safety controls are functioning correctly is peace of mind that matters.

Full HVAC System Evaluation

Sometimes a homeowner just needs a complete picture of where their system stands, especially after buying a newly built home or inheriting equipment from a previous owner. We evaluate your entire HVAC setup, identify any concerns, and give you an honest assessment of what needs attention now versus what can wait. No pressure, just clear information.

Heat Pump Maintenance

Heat pumps are becoming a popular choice in Leander's new construction, and they require their own maintenance routine to keep both heating and cooling functions working correctly. We inspect refrigerant levels, reversing valves, defrost controls, and outdoor unit components to keep your heat pump performing efficiently year-round. Regular maintenance also extends the life of a system that works in every season.

Mini Split Maintenance

Leander's newer homes sometimes include mini split systems for additions, bonus rooms, or detached spaces, and these units need regular cleaning and inspection just like any other HVAC equipment. We clean filters, check refrigerant, inspect electrical connections, and test each zone for proper output. Keeping your mini split well-maintained prevents efficiency loss and extends the life of the unit.

We Know Leander Homes

Most of the homes we service in Leander were built in the last ten to fifteen years, and while that sounds recent, it's long enough for HVAC systems to start showing wear patterns that first-time homeowners aren't always prepared for. Capacitors and contactors on those early-2010s units are approaching the end of their typical lifespan, filters in rapidly developing areas get clogged faster due to surrounding construction dust, and ductwork installed quickly during subdivision build-outs often has gaps or undersized runs that quietly reduce efficiency year after year.

Leander's location in the Hill Country corridor also plays a role — temperature swings between seasons can be more dramatic than closer-in Austin suburbs, and systems here cycle through both extremes more than homeowners often expect. We know which equipment brands showed up most frequently during Leander's growth years, we know what tends to fail first on those systems, and we know how to talk through options with homeowners who are still learning how their house works. That familiarity is part of what makes Cold is on the Right a natural fit for this community.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance in Leander?
Most HVAC systems benefit from two maintenance visits per year — once in the spring before cooling season and once in the fall before heating season. In Leander, where summers are long and AC systems run hard for five or more months straight, the spring tune-up is especially important. If your system is newer and under warranty, regular documented maintenance is often required to keep that warranty valid. Skipping maintenance for two or more years significantly increases the risk of preventable breakdowns during peak season.
My home was built a few years ago in a newer Leander subdivision. Does a newer system still need maintenance?
Yes, and in some ways newer systems in Leander need attention sooner than homeowners expect. Construction-phase debris and dust can get into ductwork and filters, and rapidly built subdivisions sometimes have ductwork that was installed quickly with gaps or undersized runs. Most manufacturer warranties also require documented annual maintenance to remain in effect. Getting your first professional maintenance visit a year or two after move-in gives you a real baseline for your system's condition.
What does an HVAC maintenance visit actually include?
A thorough maintenance visit covers quite a bit. We inspect and clean the evaporator and condenser coils, check refrigerant levels, test and tighten electrical connections, inspect the blower motor and capacitors, replace or check air filters, calibrate the thermostat, and test airflow throughout the home. For heating systems, we also check the heat exchanger, ignition system, and safety controls. At the end of the visit, you get a clear summary of what we found and what, if anything, needs attention.
How much does HVAC maintenance cost in Leander?
A standard maintenance visit for a single system typically runs in the range of $80 to $150 depending on the system type and what the visit involves. If we find items during inspection that need repair, those are priced separately and presented to you upfront before any additional work begins. Some homeowners choose maintenance plans that bundle two annual visits at a reduced rate. We provide exact pricing before we start so there are no surprises.
What are signs that my HVAC system needs attention between scheduled maintenance visits?
A few things worth watching for include rising energy bills without any change in usage, uneven temperatures between rooms, the system running longer cycles than usual, unusual noises like rattling or squealing, or a noticeable increase in dust inside the home. In Leander, where systems work hard during summer, a sudden spike in your utility bill in June or July is often the first sign something is off. If you notice any of these, it's worth scheduling a service visit rather than waiting for the next scheduled maintenance.
Can you help me understand my HVAC system if I'm a first-time homeowner?
Absolutely. A big part of what we do with newer Leander homeowners is walk them through how their system works, what the maintenance schedule should look like, and what to watch for between visits. We explain what we're inspecting, what we find, and what it means in plain language without technical jargon. By the end of the visit, most first-time homeowners feel a lot more confident about their system and what to expect from it going forward.
