AC Repair Services We Provide in Leander

Central AC Diagnostics

If your system isn't cooling the way it should, a thorough diagnostic is the right place to start. Our technicians inspect every major component, from the condenser and evaporator coil to the blower motor and thermostat, so you get an accurate answer instead of a guess. For Leander homeowners with newer systems, this often reveals installation-related issues or early component wear that's easy to address before it becomes a bigger problem.

Learn More

Refrigerant Leak Repair

Low refrigerant is one of the most common reasons a newer AC system underperforms, and it almost always points to a leak somewhere in the system. We locate the leak, make the repair, and recharge the system to manufacturer specifications. This is especially relevant in Leander's new construction homes where refrigerant lines may have been rushed during install.

Learn More

Capacitor and Contactor Replacement

Capacitors and contactors are small components that take a beating during long Texas cooling seasons, and when they fail, your system often won't start at all. Replacement is typically quick and affordable, which is why catching it early matters. Many Leander homeowners first notice the problem when the unit hums but won't kick on during a heat wave.

Learn More

Frozen Evaporator Coil Repair

A frozen evaporator coil can completely shut down your cooling and leave standing water near your air handler if it isn't addressed promptly. The cause is usually restricted airflow or low refrigerant, both of which are fixable. In newer Leander homes with tight construction and limited airflow, dirty filters and closed vents are frequent contributors.

Learn More

Thermostat Repair and Replacement

Smart thermostats are common in Leander's newer builds, but they can lose calibration, lose connectivity, or simply be set up incorrectly from day one. We troubleshoot thermostat issues and replace or reconfigure units so your system responds the way it should. Getting the thermostat right makes a noticeable difference in both comfort and monthly energy costs.

Learn More

Blower Motor Repair

The blower motor is responsible for pushing conditioned air through your ductwork, and when it slows down or fails, airflow drops and rooms stop cooling evenly. This is a repair we see often in systems that have been running hard through back-to-back hot summers. For Leander families dealing with uneven temperatures room to room, the blower motor is often the first thing we check.

Learn More

Condensate Drain Line Clearing

A clogged condensate drain line can cause your system to shut off automatically as a safety measure, leaving you without cooling until it's cleared. Leander's humidity levels during summer are high enough that drain lines can back up faster than homeowners expect. We flush and clear the line quickly and can walk you through simple maintenance steps to keep it from recurring.

Learn More

AC System Tune-Up and Maintenance

Preventive maintenance catches small problems before they turn into expensive repairs, and it keeps your system running efficiently through peak cooling season. We clean coils, check refrigerant levels, test electrical components, and inspect drainage during every tune-up. For Leander homeowners who are new to managing their own HVAC system, a yearly tune-up is one of the smartest investments you can make.

Learn More

AC Replacement Consultation

If your system is beyond repair or the cost to fix it doesn't make financial sense, we'll give you an honest assessment and walk you through replacement options that fit your home and budget. We carry energy-efficient systems well-suited for Leander's climate and can explain SEER ratings, sizing requirements, and what to expect from the installation process.

Learn More

New AC Installation

Whether you're moving into a new home, finishing a bonus room, or adding a second system for a larger house, we handle AC installations from start to finish. Proper sizing is critical and something that gets skipped in rushed new construction, so we take the time to do a load calculation before recommending any equipment. Leander homeowners who want it done right the first time call us.

Commercial AC Repair

Small businesses and commercial properties in Leander deal with the same brutal heat and need systems they can count on. We provide commercial AC repair for offices, retail spaces, and light commercial buildings throughout the area. Our technicians understand the difference between residential and commercial equipment and bring the right tools and experience for both.

We Know Leander Homes

Most of Leander's housing stock has gone up in the last ten to fifteen years, which means the majority of AC systems out there are still relatively new. But new doesn't always mean trouble-free. Fast-paced construction schedules can lead to undersized equipment, improperly sealed ductwork, or refrigerant lines that weren't charged correctly from the start. First-time homeowners often inherit these issues without knowing it, and the first really hot summer is usually when everything comes to the surface.

We've worked throughout Leander's neighborhoods, from Crystal Falls to Travisso to the newer developments going up around 183A, and we understand what these homes actually need. The combination of tight building envelopes, high summer demand, and systems that haven't had their first professional maintenance yet creates a predictable set of issues we see regularly. That familiarity means faster diagnosis and repairs that address the real problem, not just the symptom.

Why Leander Homeowners Choose Us

Leander is full of young families who moved here for the schools, the space, and the community, and the last thing anyone needs is an AC company that's hard to reach, vague about pricing, or slow to respond. Cold is on the Right has built its reputation in the Austin area by being the opposite of that, and we bring that same approach to every call we take in Leander.

Licensed and Experienced Technicians

Every technician we send to your home is licensed, insured, and trained on the types of systems commonly installed in Leander's newer construction. We diagnose accurately and repair confidently.

Upfront Pricing, No Surprises

AC failures don't follow a schedule, and in a Leander summer, waiting isn't an option. We offer emergency service for homeowners who need help fast.

Honest About Repair vs. Replacement

If a repair is the right call, we'll repair it. If replacement makes more financial sense, we'll tell you that too. Leander homeowners trust us because we give straight answers.

AC repairs and replacements can come at an inconvenient time, and we don't think the cost should stop you from getting your home comfortable again. High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does AC repair typically cost in Leander?
AC repair costs in Leander generally range from around $150 for something straightforward like a capacitor replacement to $1,200 or more for a refrigerant leak repair or blower motor replacement. The wide range reflects how different the underlying issues can be, which is why a proper diagnostic is so important. We provide upfront pricing before any work begins so there are no surprises. If the repair cost approaches the value of a new system, we'll tell you that honestly and walk you through replacement options.
My AC was installed when my Leander home was built just a few years ago. Can new systems really have problems already?
Yes, and it's more common than people expect in fast-growing areas like Leander. When homes go up quickly, HVAC systems sometimes get installed in ways that create early problems, including equipment that's slightly undersized, ductwork that isn't properly sealed, or refrigerant that wasn't charged to the correct level from the start. You might not notice these issues during the first year or two, but once the system has been running hard through a few Texas summers, those small problems tend to show up. Getting a professional inspection is the best way to know what you're actually working with.
How long does an AC repair take in Leander?
Most common repairs, like capacitor or contactor replacements, refrigerant recharges, or condensate drain clearing, can be completed in one visit that typically takes one to two hours. More involved repairs, such as a blower motor replacement or evaporator coil work, may take two to four hours. If a part needs to be ordered, there could be a short delay, but we carry the most common components in our vehicles so same-day completion is the norm for most calls. We'll give you a realistic time estimate before we start.
What should I do if my AC stops working on a really hot day in Leander?
First, check your thermostat settings and make sure the air filter isn't completely clogged, as both are easy fixes that are often overlooked. Then check your circuit breaker to see if the AC breaker has tripped. If none of those solve it, it's time to call a technician. While you wait, close blinds and curtains on sun-facing windows, run ceiling fans to circulate air, and keep interior doors open to let cooler air move through the house. We offer emergency service for situations like this, so give us a call and we'll get someone out to your Leander home as quickly as possible.
Is it worth repairing my AC or should I just replace it?
The general guideline is to compare the repair cost against the age and overall condition of the system. If your unit is under ten years old and the repair is a single component failure, repair almost always makes financial sense. If the system is older, has needed multiple repairs in the past few years, or is struggling to cool your home efficiently even when it's working, replacement may be the smarter long-term investment. We'll give you an honest assessment based on what we actually find, not on what generates more revenue for us. For Leander homeowners with newer systems, repair is usually the right call.
How often should I have my AC serviced if I live in Leander?
Once a year is the minimum, and ideally you'd schedule that tune-up in the spring before the heavy cooling season begins. Leander's summers are long and hot, and systems that go into June without a recent inspection are much more likely to fail during peak demand. During a tune-up, a technician will clean coils, check refrigerant levels, test electrical components, and clear the condensate drain, all things that directly affect reliability and efficiency. If you have a newer home and have never had your system serviced since moving in, that's the first thing we'd recommend.
