About Our Sewer Services in Georgetown

Georgetown's rapid growth has created a city where a historic Victorian-era home on a tree-lined downtown street can sit just a few miles from a brand-new subdivision still under active development. That range of housing stock means sewer systems here run the gamut — from aging clay or cast-iron lines that have been in the ground for decades to newer PVC systems that sometimes come with their own installation quirks. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air understands that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work in a city like Georgetown, and we tailor every sewer job to the specific home and system in front of us.

We use camera inspection technology to identify exactly what's happening inside your sewer line before we ever recommend a repair or replacement. That means no guesswork, no unnecessary work, and no surprise costs after the job starts. From hydro jetting stubborn blockages to full sewer line replacement on an older home near the square, our licensed plumbers bring the tools and local experience to handle whatever Georgetown throws at them.

Sewer Services We Provide in Georgetown

Sewer Line Repair

A cracked, shifted, or partially blocked sewer line can cause slow drains, gurgling toilets, and sewage odors throughout your home. Georgetown's mix of older clay pipes downtown and newer PVC in master-planned communities means the repair approach varies widely. We diagnose the specific failure point and perform targeted repairs to restore proper flow without unnecessary excavation.

Sewer Line Replacement

When a sewer line has deteriorated beyond repair — whether it's a decades-old clay pipe beneath a historic Georgetown home or a line damaged by shifting soil in a newer development — full replacement is often the smartest long-term investment. We use durable, modern materials and trenchless methods where possible to minimize disruption to your yard and landscaping.

Drain Cleaning

Slow drains are one of the most common complaints we hear from Georgetown homeowners, and they're often the first sign of a deeper sewer problem. Our drain cleaning services use professional-grade tools to clear blockages thoroughly, not just push them further down the line. Regular drain cleaning is especially valuable in older Georgetown homes where decades of buildup can restrict even well-maintained pipes.

Camera Sewer Inspection

Before recommending any repair or replacement, we run a camera through your sewer line to see exactly what's going on. This is particularly valuable in Georgetown's historic district, where pipe age and material can vary significantly and guesswork leads to expensive mistakes. You get a clear picture of the problem and a straightforward explanation of your options before any work begins.

Hydro Jetting

Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to blast away grease, mineral scale, root intrusion, and other stubborn blockages that standard drain snaking can't fully remove. Georgetown's hard water contributes to mineral buildup inside pipes over time, making hydro jetting a particularly effective solution for homes that deal with recurring drain slowdowns. It's thorough, safe for most pipe materials, and leaves your line significantly cleaner than other methods.

Root Intrusion Removal

Georgetown's established neighborhoods — especially around the historic downtown area — are full of mature trees with root systems that have had decades to find their way into older sewer lines. Root intrusion is one of the leading causes of sewer line failure in these areas, causing blockages and eventually cracking pipes from the inside out. We remove existing root growth and can recommend long-term solutions to keep it from coming back.

Leak Detection

A sewer line leak isn't always obvious until significant damage has already occurred. Soggy patches in your yard, unexplained odors, or a sudden spike in your water bill can all point to a leak underground. Our non-invasive leak detection methods let us pinpoint the source precisely, saving you the cost and hassle of unnecessary digging.

Emergency Sewer Services

A sewage backup or sewer line failure doesn't wait for business hours, and in a densely built neighborhood like Georgetown's downtown historic district or a tightly packed master-planned community, a sewer emergency can affect more than just your home. Our team is available for emergency calls and responds quickly to stop the damage and restore your system as fast as possible.

New Construction Sewer Inspections

Georgetown's rapid development means plenty of newly built homes, and new construction doesn't automatically mean problem-free plumbing. Builder-grade sewer installations can have improper slopes, poor connections, or other issues that only show up once the home is occupied. A pre-purchase or early-occupancy sewer inspection gives you confidence that your new home's system was done right.

Sewer Line Maintenance

Preventive maintenance is the best way to avoid a sewer emergency, especially in older Georgetown homes where aging pipes are already working harder than they should. We offer scheduled maintenance services that catch small problems before they become costly failures, giving homeowners peace of mind without waiting for something to go wrong.

Whole House Repiping

In Georgetown's oldest homes, the sewer and water supply lines may both be well past their useful life. When multiple pipes are failing throughout a home, repiping the entire system is often more cost-effective than repeated individual repairs. We handle full repiping projects that bring your home's plumbing up to modern standards from top to bottom.

We Know Georgetown Homes

Georgetown's housing stock is genuinely unlike most cities in the Austin metro. The historic district near the downtown square has homes that date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, many still running on original or early-replacement clay and cast-iron sewer lines that are increasingly vulnerable to root intrusion, cracking, and corrosion. These older systems require a careful, experienced hand — rushing in with the wrong approach can turn a manageable repair into a much bigger project.

At the same time, the wave of master-planned communities that have transformed Georgetown over the past two decades brings its own set of considerations. Rapid construction timelines and builder-grade materials mean newer homes aren't always free from sewer issues, and the expansive footprints of developments like Wolf Ranch and Teravista mean sewer lines sometimes run long distances across challenging terrain. Our team works across all of Georgetown, and that range of experience is exactly why homeowners here trust Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air with their sewer systems.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my sewer line needs to be repaired or fully replaced?
The answer depends on the extent and location of the damage. A single crack or root intrusion in an otherwise sound line can often be repaired for a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars. But if your sewer line is made of older clay or cast-iron material and showing deterioration in multiple spots, replacement is usually the more cost-effective long-term choice. We always run a camera inspection first so you can see exactly what's in your line before we recommend anything. Georgetown homeowners with homes built before the 1980s should have their sewer lines inspected even if they haven't had major problems yet.
What does a sewer camera inspection involve and how much does it cost?
A sewer camera inspection involves running a flexible, waterproof camera through your sewer line from a cleanout access point or through a toilet. It lets us see the inside of your pipe in real time and identify cracks, root intrusion, buildup, improper slope, or other issues. Inspections typically range from around $150 to $300 depending on the complexity and length of the line. It's one of the best investments you can make before buying an older Georgetown home or if you've had recurring plumbing problems with no clear cause.
My yard has a wet spot near where I think the sewer line runs. Is that a sewer leak?
It could be. Wet patches, sunken areas, or unusually lush green grass above a sewer line are classic signs of a leak underground. Sewer line leaks allow wastewater to saturate the soil, which creates both a health hazard and the potential for significant ground movement over time. The only way to know for sure is a camera inspection and possibly a leak detection test. Don't ignore a wet spot like this — the longer a sewer line leaks underground, the more expensive the eventual repair tends to be.
How long does a sewer line replacement take from start to finish?
Most residential sewer line replacements in Georgetown can be completed in one to two days once the job is scoped and materials are ready. Trenchless replacement methods can sometimes be faster and cause less disruption to your yard than traditional open-cut excavation. More complex situations — like a line that runs under a driveway, mature tree roots that have caused significant ground disruption, or a longer line in one of Georgetown's larger newer homes — may take an additional day. We'll give you a realistic timeline before work begins so you can plan accordingly.
Can tree roots really damage a sewer line, and is it a big problem in Georgetown?
Yes, and it's one of the most common sewer issues we see in Georgetown's older neighborhoods. Tree roots naturally seek out moisture, and the small cracks or joint gaps in aging clay sewer lines are an easy entry point. Once roots get inside a pipe they grow rapidly, causing blockages and eventually cracking the pipe further. Georgetown's historic downtown area has large, mature trees planted close to older homes, which makes root intrusion especially common there. If you haven't had your sewer line inspected and you have mature trees on your property, it's worth scheduling a camera inspection as a precaution.
Are newer homes in Georgetown's master-planned communities less likely to have sewer problems?
Not necessarily. Newer sewer lines are typically PVC rather than clay or cast iron, which does eliminate some long-term corrosion concerns. But newer construction can come with its own set of issues, including improper pipe slope during installation, poor connections at joints, or damage caused by settling and soil movement after construction. Georgetown has seen a lot of rapid development, and not every builder takes the same care with underground plumbing. A pre-purchase sewer inspection on a newer home is a smart move and gives you documentation of the system's condition from the day you move in.
