About Our Emergency Plumbing in Georgetown

Georgetown's explosive growth means our plumbers work on an unusually wide range of homes. In the historic core near downtown, we see aging cast iron and galvanized steel pipes that are long overdue for attention. A slow drain or small leak in a 100-year-old home can escalate fast when the original plumbing was never designed for modern water usage. Our emergency plumbers know how to work carefully in these older homes, diagnosing problems without causing additional damage to historic finishes or outdated systems.

In the master-planned communities spreading out along Ronald Reagan Boulevard and beyond, newer homes present a different set of challenges. PEX and CPVC installations done quickly during the building boom sometimes show early failure points, and slab construction means leaks can go undetected until they've done real damage. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air serves all of Georgetown — the old and the new — with the same fast response, honest pricing, and lasting repairs that homeowners across Williamson County have come to count on.

Emergency Plumbing Services We Provide in Georgetown

Burst and Leaking Pipe Repair

Georgetown's older homes near the downtown historic district often have galvanized or cast iron supply and drain lines that are well past their service life. When a pipe bursts or a slow leak turns into a gusher, we locate the failure fast and make repairs that last. We work on both old and new piping systems throughout Georgetown.

Clogged and Backed-Up Drains

Drain backups are one of the most common plumbing emergencies we see across Georgetown, from older downtown homes with decades of buildup in the lines to newer developments where construction debris can cause early blockages. We use professional-grade equipment to clear stoppages completely rather than just pushing the problem down the line.

Learn More

Sewer Line Emergencies

Georgetown's mature trees — especially in established neighborhoods near the inner city and along older streets — are a common cause of sewer line intrusion and collapse. When sewage starts backing up into your home, that is a health hazard that requires immediate attention. We diagnose and repair sewer emergencies for Georgetown homeowners with minimal disruption to your yard and landscaping where possible.

Water Heater Failure

A water heater that goes out overnight or on a cold morning is a genuine emergency for any household. Georgetown's hard water supply is notoriously tough on tank-style water heaters, accelerating sediment buildup and shortening equipment life. We provide same-day water heater repair and replacement across Georgetown so your household gets hot water back quickly.

Slab Leak Detection and Repair

Much of Georgetown's newer construction sits on slab foundations, and a pressurized water line leaking beneath the concrete can quietly destroy flooring, cause mold growth, and spike water bills before anyone notices. We use non-invasive detection equipment to pinpoint slab leaks accurately so we only open up what we have to.

Learn More

Hidden Leak Detection

Not every plumbing emergency makes noise right away. A hidden leak inside a wall or under a floor in a Georgetown home can cause structural damage and mold growth for weeks before you notice. Our leak detection equipment finds the source without tearing apart your home, and we move fast once the location is confirmed.

Learn More

Overflowing and Non-Functioning Toilets

An overflowing toilet is an urgent sanitation issue, especially in a home with a single bathroom. We respond quickly to toilet emergencies across Georgetown, diagnosing whether the problem is a simple blockage, a deeper line issue, or a failing valve — and we fix the right thing the first time rather than guessing.

Water Line Breaks and Shutoffs

A broken main water line can flood your yard and kill your water supply entirely. Georgetown's clay-heavy soils shift seasonally, and that ground movement puts stress on both older galvanized supply lines and newer PVC installations. We locate the break, make the repair, and restore your water supply as quickly as possible.

Garbage Disposal Emergencies

A seized or leaking garbage disposal can bring your kitchen to a halt and sometimes create a bigger plumbing problem in the drain lines beneath the sink. We repair and replace garbage disposals for Georgetown homeowners and get your kitchen back to normal without unnecessary delays.

Gas Line Plumbing Concerns

If you smell gas or suspect a gas line issue connected to your water heater or other plumbing fixtures, treat it as an emergency. We work safely and methodically on gas-related plumbing service calls across Georgetown and coordinate with the appropriate utility services when evacuation or shutoff is needed before we begin work.

Commercial Emergency Plumbing

Georgetown's growing commercial corridor along Williams Drive and the businesses surrounding the historic square need fast plumbing response just like residential customers. A plumbing failure during business hours means lost revenue. We handle commercial emergency plumbing calls across Georgetown with the same urgency and transparency we bring to every job.

Benefits of Emergency Plumbing in Georgetown

Some plumbing emergencies turn into larger repairs — a slab leak, a full repipe on an older historic home, or a water heater replacement — and the cost can be significant. Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air offers financing options to help Georgetown homeowners manage larger jobs without delaying necessary repairs. Ask us about financing when you call, and we'll walk you through how it works with no pressure.

We Know Georgetown Homes

Georgetown is unlike most cities in the Austin metro because its housing stock genuinely spans over a century. When we're called to a home near the Red Poppy District or the historic square, we come prepared for galvanized supply lines, cast iron drain stacks, and older fixture connections that require patience and experience to work on without causing additional problems. These homes are often on city lots with mature landscaping, which adds tree root intrusion to the list of things we check when diagnosing a drain or sewer issue.

On the other side of town, the rapid build-out of communities like Wolf Ranch, Morningstar, and Sun City means we also work regularly on homes that are only a few years old. Georgetown's water is hard — calcium and mineral deposits accumulate quickly in water heaters and supply lines — and the expansive clay soils across Williamson County create ground movement that stresses slab plumbing systems year-round. Knowing both ends of Georgetown's housing spectrum is what lets Cold is on the Right Plumbing & Air show up prepared every time, regardless of what neighborhood we're heading to.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you respond to a plumbing emergency in Georgetown?
Our response time depends on current call volume and your location within Georgetown, but we prioritize emergency calls and work to get to you as fast as possible. For homes in newer outer communities like Wolf Ranch or Sun City, travel time is a bit longer than central Georgetown, but we factor that in when dispatching. When you call, let us know the nature of the emergency so we can give you an accurate estimate of when to expect us. The most important thing is to call right away rather than waiting to see if the problem resolves on its own.
My Georgetown home was built in the 1930s. Are older pipes more likely to cause plumbing emergencies?
Yes, significantly. Homes built before the 1960s in Georgetown's historic core were typically plumbed with galvanized steel supply lines and cast iron drain pipes. Galvanized pipes corrode from the inside out over decades, eventually restricting flow and failing at fittings. Cast iron drain lines can crack, separate at joints, or develop serious corrosion. These systems were not designed for the water pressure or usage patterns of a modern household. If your historic Georgetown home hasn't had its plumbing evaluated recently, a proactive inspection is worth doing before an emergency forces the issue.
How does Georgetown's hard water affect my plumbing and water heater?
Georgetown's municipal water supply comes from the North San Gabriel River and carries a notably high mineral content. Over time, calcium and magnesium deposits build up inside water heater tanks, reducing efficiency and eventually causing premature failure. The same buildup affects fixtures, valves, and supply line fittings. A water heater that might last 12 to 15 years in a softer-water market may only last 8 to 10 years in Georgetown without a water softener or regular maintenance. Flushing your tank annually and watching for signs like rumbling sounds or inconsistent hot water temperatures can help catch problems before they become an emergency.
What should I do immediately if a pipe bursts in my home while waiting for the plumber?
Locate your main water shutoff valve and turn it off right away to stop the flow of water. In most Georgetown homes, the shutoff is near where the main line enters the house, often in a utility closet, garage, or near the water meter at the street. Once the water is off, move valuables and electronics away from the affected area and put down towels or buckets to limit secondary damage. Do not turn the water back on until the plumber has assessed the break. If you are not sure where your shutoff valve is, we can talk you through finding it when you call.
I have a newer home in a Georgetown master-planned community. Why would I have a slab leak so soon?
It is more common than most people expect. Georgetown sits on expansive clay soils that shift seasonally with changes in moisture, and that ground movement puts stress on the copper or PEX lines embedded in the slab. Additionally, during the high-volume construction boom Georgetown experienced, some installations were done quickly, and minor issues with pipe routing or fittings can develop into leaks within just a few years. Georgetown's hard water also accelerates corrosion in copper lines. Warning signs include unexplained increases in your water bill, warm spots on the floor, or the sound of running water when all fixtures are turned off.
How much does an emergency plumbing call typically cost in Georgetown?
Costs vary based on what the problem turns out to be, not just the fact that it is an emergency. A drain clearing or toilet repair tends to be a few hundred dollars in most cases. More involved repairs like a burst pipe, slab leak, or water heater replacement will cost more, often ranging from several hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the scope of work and access difficulty. We provide upfront pricing after diagnosing the issue, so you know the full cost before we begin. We also offer financing options for larger repairs if that is helpful.
