About Our Mini Splits in Cedar Park

Cedar Park's housing boom brought a lot of variety — sprawling new subdivisions with open floor plans, older neighborhoods where the original HVAC systems are starting to show their age, and everything in between. Mini splits fit naturally into this mix. They give homeowners the ability to condition specific zones without tearing into walls for ductwork, which matters a lot when you're adding square footage, finishing a garage, or trying to fix the one bedroom that's always too hot in August.

At Cold is on the Right, we've worked on homes all across Cedar Park and we understand what these houses need. Texas summers push HVAC systems hard, and a ductless system sized and installed correctly makes a real difference in both comfort and monthly energy costs. We handle everything from single-zone installs to whole-home multi-zone setups, and we make sure every job is done right the first time.

Getting it fixed fast matters when Cedar Park summers are pushing temperatures into the triple digits.

Mini Split Maintenance

Annual maintenance keeps your mini split running at peak efficiency and catches small issues before they become expensive repairs. We clean filters and coils, check refrigerant levels, inspect electrical connections, and test the entire system. Cedar Park's dusty conditions and heavy summer use make regular tune-ups especially worthwhile.

Multi-Zone Mini Split Systems

Many Cedar Park homes have multiple areas that need independent temperature control — a bonus room over the garage, a home office addition, or a basement media room. Multi-zone mini splits connect several indoor air handlers to a single outdoor unit, letting each space stay at its own temperature. We design and install multi-zone setups that match your home's layout and your family's comfort needs.

Garage and Bonus Room Mini Splits

Unconditioned garages and bonus rooms are extremely common in Cedar Park's newer subdivisions, and they're often the hottest spaces in the house during summer. A single-zone mini split is one of the most cost-effective ways to make these spaces livable year-round. We install compact, efficient units that won't overload your electrical panel or break the budget.

Mini Split Replacement

Mini splits typically last 15 to 20 years with good maintenance, but units installed during Cedar Park's earlier growth phases are now reaching the end of their service life. When repairs no longer make financial sense, we'll help you select a higher-efficiency replacement and handle the full swap. We remove the old equipment responsibly and get your new system running the same day in most cases.

Ductless AC Installation

For Cedar Park homes without existing ductwork, or homes where adding ducts simply isn't practical, a ductless mini split is the cleanest solution for central-style cooling. There's no need to cut into ceilings or walls to run duct runs, which keeps the project cost down and the disruption minimal. We install systems that deliver quiet, consistent cooling throughout the space.

Heat Pump Mini Splits

Most mini splits are heat pumps, meaning they handle both heating and cooling from a single system. That's a big deal in Central Texas, where winter nights can get cold but full-blown furnace capacity is rarely needed. A heat pump mini split is one of the most energy-efficient ways to keep your Cedar Park home comfortable in every season.

Mini Split Refrigerant Services

Low refrigerant is one of the most common reasons a mini split stops cooling effectively. We check, recharge, and repair refrigerant leaks to restore your system's performance. Addressing refrigerant issues promptly also protects the compressor from premature wear, which can turn an inexpensive fix into a costly replacement.

Indoor Air Quality Add-Ons

Mini splits can be paired with air purifiers and advanced filtration systems to improve the air quality inside your Cedar Park home. This is especially valuable in newer, tightly-sealed construction where air doesn't circulate as naturally. We can recommend and install add-ons that reduce allergens, dust, and humidity for a healthier indoor environment.

Smart Thermostat and Controls Integration

Modern mini splits can be paired with smart controllers that let you manage temperature by zone from your phone, set schedules, and track energy usage. For busy Cedar Park families, that kind of control means you're never cooling an empty house. We set up and configure smart controls so everything works seamlessly from day one.

We Know Cedar Park Homes

Cedar Park's growth has happened in waves, and that shows up in the homes we service. The newer subdivisions on the north and west sides of town often feature open-concept floor plans that can be tricky to condition evenly with a single central system, while the older neighborhoods closer to 183 have houses with original equipment that's been running hard for 15 to 20 years. We know which neighborhoods tend to have undersized original systems, and we know what the newer builds need to get zoned comfort right from the start.

Cedar Park also sits at the edge of the Hill Country, which means temperature swings between seasons can catch homeowners off guard. Summers are relentless, but winter cold snaps hit harder than people expect. A heat pump mini split handles both extremes efficiently, and because we work in this area day in and day out, we size and configure systems with the local climate in mind. When you call Cold is on the Right, you're getting a team that already understands your neighborhood.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to install a mini split in Cedar Park, TX?
The cost of a mini split installation in Cedar Park typically ranges from $1,500 to $5,000 or more depending on the number of zones, the capacity of the system, and the complexity of the install. A single-zone unit for a bonus room or garage is usually on the lower end, while a multi-zone system covering several rooms will cost more. Brand, efficiency rating, and any electrical upgrades needed also factor into the final price. We provide upfront pricing after assessing your specific home, so you know exactly what you're looking at before we start any work.
Can a mini split handle the heat in Cedar Park summers?
Yes, a properly sized mini split can absolutely handle Cedar Park summers, which routinely push past 100 degrees. The key word is properly sized — an undersized unit will run constantly, struggle to keep up, and wear out faster. We evaluate your space carefully to make sure you get a system with enough capacity for Central Texas conditions. High-efficiency mini splits with a SEER rating of 18 or above are a solid choice here because they handle heavy cooling loads without sending your electric bill through the roof.
Do mini splits work for heating in the winter too?
Most mini splits are heat pump systems, which means they provide both heating and cooling from one unit. In Central Texas, where winter temperatures are mild compared to the northern states, heat pump mini splits are extremely effective and efficient for heating. They work by moving heat from outside air into your home rather than generating heat by burning fuel, which makes them far less expensive to operate than electric resistance heating. Even on colder nights in the 20s and 30s, modern cold-climate mini splits maintain strong heating performance. For most Cedar Park homeowners, a mini split handles winter comfort without needing a backup furnace.
How long does a mini split installation take?
A single-zone mini split installation typically takes between two and four hours for an experienced technician. Multi-zone systems with multiple indoor air handlers naturally take longer, often a full day depending on how many zones are involved and how complex the refrigerant line routing is. Before the appointment, we'll give you a realistic time estimate based on your specific setup. Most homeowners are surprised by how quick and clean the process is compared to a full ducted HVAC replacement.
How often should I have my mini split serviced in Cedar Park?
We recommend annual maintenance for most mini split systems, ideally in spring before the heavy cooling season begins. Cedar Park's dusty conditions mean filters and coils can accumulate debris faster than in some other climates, which reduces efficiency and airflow if left unchecked. During a maintenance visit, we clean the filters and coils, inspect refrigerant levels, check all electrical connections, and make sure the condensate drain is clear. Keeping up with annual service extends the life of the system significantly and helps catch small issues before they turn into expensive repairs.
