About Our Water Filters & Filtration in Bee Cave

Bee Cave is one of the fastest-growing communities west of Austin, and the majority of homes here are newer builds — many constructed within the last 15 to 20 years. While that means modern plumbing infrastructure, it doesn't mean you're off the hook when it comes to water quality. The Hill Country water supply in this area is notoriously hard, with high levels of calcium and magnesium that leave scale buildup inside pipes, water heaters, and fixtures over time. We work with Bee Cave homeowners to evaluate their specific water chemistry and recommend filtration solutions that protect their investment and improve day-to-day water quality.

Our team has serviced homes throughout the 78738 zip code and knows how the local water supply behaves across different neighborhoods. From under-sink reverse osmosis systems in high-end kitchens to whole-home carbon filtration setups that protect every fixture in the house, we offer solutions scaled to your home's size and your family's priorities. We use upfront pricing, show up on time, and explain what we're installing so you're never left guessing about what's going into your home.

Water Filtration Services We Provide in Bee Cave

Whole-Home Water Filtration Systems

A whole-home system treats every drop of water entering your house, protecting your plumbing, appliances, and fixtures from sediment, chlorine, and mineral buildup. For Bee Cave homeowners with newer builds and higher-end finishes, this is one of the best investments you can make to extend the life of your plumbing infrastructure. We size and install the right system for your home's square footage and water usage.

Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis Systems

Reverse osmosis systems remove up to 99% of dissolved contaminants, including chlorine, fluoride, nitrates, and heavy metals, delivering exceptionally clean drinking water right at your kitchen tap. They're popular in Bee Cave kitchens where homeowners want filtered water on demand without the hassle of pitcher filters or bottled water delivery. We install compact, high-output RO units that fit neatly under most kitchen sinks.

Water Softener Installation

Hill Country water is some of the hardest in Texas, and Bee Cave is no exception. A water softener removes excess calcium and magnesium before they can scale your pipes, corrode your fixtures, or reduce the efficiency of your water heater. We handle full softener installation and can pair it with a filtration system for comprehensive water treatment.

Sediment Filters

Sediment filters catch sand, silt, rust, and particulate matter that can enter your water supply and cause wear on appliances and fixtures. In areas near Lake Travis where water table conditions can shift, sediment filtration is a smart first line of defense. We install cartridge and backwashing sediment filters suited to your home's water flow rate and usage demands.

Carbon Filtration Systems

Activated carbon filters are highly effective at reducing chlorine, chloramines, volatile organic compounds, and the chemical taste and odor that municipal water can carry. For Bee Cave homes on city water, a carbon filter — either standalone or as part of a whole-home setup — makes a noticeable difference in the taste and smell of your water. We'll recommend the right carbon filtration approach based on your water test results.

Water Quality Testing

Before recommending any filtration solution, we test your water to understand exactly what's in it. Bee Cave homeowners are sometimes surprised to find elevated hardness levels, trace chlorine byproducts, or sediment that their water hasn't obviously revealed. Testing takes the guesswork out of filtration and ensures we're solving the right problems with the right equipment.

Filter Replacement and Maintenance

Filtration systems only work as well as their filters, and most require cartridge or media replacement on a regular schedule. We service all major brands and can set up a maintenance plan so your system stays performing at full capacity year-round. Bee Cave homeowners with whole-home systems especially benefit from routine maintenance to prevent bypass issues and pressure drops.

UV Purification Systems

Ultraviolet purification uses UV light to neutralize bacteria, viruses, and other biological contaminants without adding chemicals to your water. While Bee Cave is served by municipal water, UV systems are a smart addition for homeowners who want an extra layer of protection — especially during boil-water notices or periods of heavy rainfall runoff. We install UV systems as standalone units or as part of a multi-stage filtration setup.

Water Heater Scale Protection

Hard water is one of the leading causes of premature water heater failure, and Bee Cave's mineral-heavy supply accelerates scale buildup inside tank and tankless units alike. We can install filtration or conditioning systems upstream of your water heater to reduce scale accumulation and extend the unit's service life. Protecting your water heater from hard water damage is one of the smartest long-term investments a homeowner can make.

Drinking Water Filtration Upgrades

If you already have a filtration system but it's underperforming or outdated, we can assess what you have and recommend upgrades that bring it up to current standards. Older systems may use outdated filter media, undersized components, or inadequate flow rates for today's household demands. We work with all major filtration brands and can upgrade or replace components without necessarily replacing the entire system.

Filtration System Repairs

When a filtration system leaks, loses pressure, or stops filtering effectively, it usually needs more than a filter swap. We diagnose and repair issues with housings, valves, fittings, and control heads on all types of filtration equipment. If your system is causing low pressure at fixtures throughout your Bee Cave home, let us take a look before the problem gets worse.

We Know Bee Cave Homes

Most homes in Bee Cave were built in the 2000s or later, which means the plumbing infrastructure is generally modern but hasn't been immune to hard water damage over the past two decades. The Hill Country water supply running through this area is consistently high in dissolved minerals, and even relatively new pipes and fixtures start showing scale buildup within a few years without proper filtration or softening in place. We've worked in neighborhoods throughout Bee Cave and seen firsthand how quickly water heaters and appliances age when hard water is left untreated.

The Lake Travis proximity also plays a role in how residents here think about water quality. Whether you're on municipal supply or navigating seasonal water advisories that come with living near a major reservoir, water quality here isn't something to take for granted. Our technicians know the local water chemistry, understand what Bee Cave homeowners expect in terms of service quality and finished results, and bring the right equipment to get the job done cleanly and correctly the first time.

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is the water in Bee Cave, and does it really require a filtration system?
Water in the Bee Cave area is considered very hard, typically testing between 15 and 25 grains per gallon depending on the specific supply source and time of year. At those levels, scale buildup in pipes, water heaters, and appliances is a real and ongoing problem. Most plumbers and appliance manufacturers recommend treating water above 7 GPG, so Bee Cave homes are well above that threshold. A whole-home softener or a combined softener-filtration system is a smart investment here, not just a luxury upgrade. The long-term savings on appliance repairs and replacements generally offset the installation cost within a few years.
What's the difference between a water softener and a water filter, and do I need both?
A water softener addresses hardness by removing calcium and magnesium through an ion exchange process, while a water filter removes a broader range of contaminants including chlorine, sediment, volatile organic compounds, and sometimes bacteria. They solve different problems, and many Bee Cave homeowners benefit from having both. A common setup is a whole-home softener paired with an under-sink reverse osmosis system for drinking water, which gives you soft water throughout the house and exceptionally clean water at the kitchen tap. We'll test your water and give you an honest assessment of what combination actually makes sense for your home.
How much does a whole-home water filtration system cost to install in Bee Cave?
Costs vary depending on the type and scale of system, but as a general range, a quality whole-home carbon filtration system typically runs between $800 and $2,500 installed. A full softener-filtration combination can range from $1,500 to $4,000 or more depending on the equipment tier. Under-sink reverse osmosis systems are more modest, often falling between $300 and $800 installed. These are rough ranges — actual pricing depends on your home's plumbing layout, the specific brands and models selected, and whether any additional plumbing work is needed. We provide a written, itemized quote before any work begins so there are no surprises.
How often do water filters need to be replaced or serviced?
It depends on the filter type and your household's water usage. Sediment pre-filters in whole-home systems typically need replacement every 3 to 6 months, while carbon filters often last 6 to 12 months. Reverse osmosis membrane filters usually last 2 to 3 years under normal use. Water softeners need their resin bed inspected periodically and salt replenished regularly. If you have a whole-home system and you're in a high-usage household or dealing with particularly hard water, you'll want to err on the shorter end of those replacement intervals. We offer maintenance plans that take the guesswork out of scheduling.
Can a water filtration system protect my water heater and appliances from damage?
Yes, and this is one of the most compelling reasons to invest in filtration or softening in Bee Cave. Hard water scale accumulates inside water heater tanks and tankless units, reducing efficiency and eventually causing premature failure. Manufacturers of tankless water heaters often note in their warranty documentation that hard water conditions can void coverage if scale damage is found. Appliances like dishwashers and washing machines are similarly affected. Installing a softener upstream of your water heater can extend its service life by several years and keep it running at full efficiency throughout. We've seen Bee Cave water heaters fail well before their expected lifespan largely due to untreated hard water.
Is filtered tap water actually cleaner than bottled water for drinking?
In many cases, yes. A properly maintained reverse osmosis system at your kitchen sink removes contaminants to levels that often exceed what's found in name-brand bottled water, and the water is delivered without the environmental footprint or ongoing cost of single-use plastic bottles. Bottled water is also subject to less rigorous public reporting requirements than municipal water, so it's not always the gold standard people assume it to be. For Bee Cave homeowners, an under-sink RO system delivers on-demand drinking water that's consistently clean and noticeably better tasting than straight tap. Most households that make the switch stop buying bottled water within a month.
