About Our Heating Repairs in Leander

Leander's rapid growth means a large portion of the homes here were built in the last decade or so, and that comes with its own set of heating challenges. New construction doesn't always mean problem-free — improper installation, undersized equipment, and systems that have never been properly commissioned are common calls we get from Leander homeowners who bought a home and assumed everything was dialed in. Cold is on the Right knows how to sort through those issues quickly and get your heat running the way it should.

At the same time, not every home in Leander is brand new. Older neighborhoods and established subdivisions near the original town center have homes with aging HVAC equipment that's overdue for service or repair. Whether you're a first-time homeowner trying to understand a system you've never had to deal with before, or a longtime resident whose furnace finally gave out on a cold January night, we show up ready to work. Our technicians are licensed, experienced, and familiar with what Leander homes actually look like inside and out.

Heating Repairs We Provide in Leander

Furnace Repair

If your furnace is short-cycling, blowing cold air, or making noises it shouldn't, our technicians will diagnose and repair it the same day whenever possible. Leander's newer homes often have high-efficiency furnaces that require a tech who understands their more complex components and error codes.

Furnace Replacement

Sometimes a repair isn't the right answer, especially when your unit is aging, inefficient, or has had repeated failures. We help Leander homeowners evaluate whether replacement makes more financial sense than continuing to pour money into an old system.

Learn More

Furnace Installation

Whether you're replacing old equipment or installing heating in a new addition, proper installation makes all the difference. We size equipment correctly for your home's square footage and layout, which is something that often gets rushed in new Leander construction.

Learn More

HVAC Repair

When your whole system goes down, we diagnose both the heating and cooling sides to make sure we find the root cause. Many Leander homes have combination HVAC systems, and a problem in one area can affect performance across the board.

Learn More

Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps are increasingly common in newer Leander homes because of their efficiency, but they need specialized attention when something goes wrong. Our techs understand heat pump systems and can repair refrigerant issues, reversing valve failures, and defrost cycle problems.

Thermostat Repair and Replacement

A faulty thermostat can make your whole heating system seem broken when the fix is straightforward. We diagnose thermostat issues including smart thermostat wiring problems, which are especially common in newer Leander builds that came pre-wired for automation.

Igniter and Flame Sensor Service

Worn igniters and dirty flame sensors are among the most common reasons a gas furnace won't light or keeps shutting off. We carry replacement parts for most major brands so we can fix this in a single visit rather than leaving you in the cold while waiting on parts.

Blower Motor Repair

If your system runs but airflow feels weak or your home isn't reaching the set temperature, the blower motor may be struggling. We test motor performance, capacitors, and related components to restore proper airflow throughout your home.

Heat Exchanger Inspection and Repair

A cracked heat exchanger is a serious safety issue because it can allow carbon monoxide to enter your living space. We inspect heat exchangers thoroughly, especially in older furnaces or systems that have been running hard through multiple Texas winters.

Ductwork Assessment and Repair

Leaner homes with improperly sealed ductwork lose significant heating efficiency, which shows up as cold rooms and high energy bills. We inspect and repair duct connections, seals, and insulation to make sure your heated air is actually getting where it needs to go.

Emergency Heating Repairs

A heating failure on a cold night in Leander isn't something you should have to wait on. We offer emergency heating repair service for those moments when the system goes down and you have young kids or elderly family members in the home who can't afford to wait until morning.

We Know Leander Homes

Leander's housing stock is dominated by tract homes and planned community developments built in the 2010s and 2020s, which means a lot of homeowners are living with builder-grade HVAC equipment that was selected for cost rather than quality or longevity. These systems can develop problems earlier than you'd expect, and first-time homeowners often don't recognize the warning signs until the unit has already been struggling for a while. We've seen the same brands, the same installation shortcuts, and the same failure patterns across dozens of Leander neighborhoods.

The area's growth also means a lot of households where the homeowner bought new and has never had to think about heating maintenance before. Leander winters aren't always brutal, but when temperatures drop hard, those high-efficiency heat pumps and two-stage furnaces need to perform and they will let you down if they haven't been properly serviced. Cold is on the Right brings technicians who understand this community's homes from the inside out, and we'll tell you exactly what's going on with your system without overselling or talking over your head.

High Fives from Austin Homeowners

Graysen and Andrew from Cold is on the Right came out just a couple hours after I called and took care of cutting out my kitchen faucet. They were professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable, explaining everything in a straightforward way without any upselling or confusion. It was refreshing to get honest answers and excellent service so quickly. I’ll definitely be using them again for future plumbing needs.

We contacted Cold is on the Right today with an urgent plumbing need. Their very professional and organized crew arrived within 30 minutes and fixed our issue. We called five other plumbing companies before them and no one was able to help us. Cold is on the Right will now be the first plumbers we call.

We called due to slow drainage and apparently main line backing up into master bathroom shower and sink. There is an automated line that takes your information and apparently works very well. Plumbers Billy and Jeremy showed up promptly after we were informed they were being dispatched this morning, they stayed and worked until the problem was solved and advised on possible future repairs that would need to be done. They were professional, smart, respectful of our home, and efficient in their actions. Let us know what things would cost and were honest in their assessment of what would be needed next and how (un) likely our homeowners insurance would be able to help.  I appreciate the service and the fair treatment by these gentlemen. Thank you.

Santiago and Kyle were amazing during our total HVAC system replacement. Kind, informative, knowledgeable and careful to ensure a smooth install. They were efficient and got my AC working before my family arrived for spring break. Now enjoying the cool air with family. Great pricing and quick turn around from quote to finished job. Thank you! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone needing HVCA or plumbing work.

These guys are prompt and very polite, and explain your options well without trying to upsell. We thought we needed three things replaced, but they showed us that one of the three just needed an adjustment rather than a replacement. Wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a typical heating repair cost in Leander?
Most heating repairs in the Leander area fall somewhere between $150 and $600 depending on what needs to be fixed. Simple fixes like a bad igniter or a faulty thermostat tend to be on the lower end, while repairs involving motors, control boards, or refrigerant are more involved and cost more. We always give you a clear price before starting work so you can make an informed decision. If the repair cost approaches what a replacement would run, we'll let you know that too rather than just taking the job.
My heat pump isn't keeping up on cold days — is that a repair issue or normal for Leander winters?
Heat pumps do lose efficiency as outdoor temperatures drop, but if yours is struggling to maintain your set temperature on days that aren't unusually cold, something is likely wrong. Common culprits include a refrigerant leak, a failing defrost cycle, or a dirty coil that's restricting heat transfer. Leander homes built in the last ten years have a high percentage of heat pump systems, and we see these issues regularly. A technician can run through the system and tell you whether it's a repair issue or whether the equipment is undersized for your home.
How long does a heating repair visit usually take?
Most standard heating repairs take between one and three hours from the time the technician arrives. If we're dealing with something straightforward like a flame sensor cleaning or a thermostat swap, it can be done in under an hour. More complex repairs involving motor replacements or control board issues may take longer, and occasionally we need to order a part if it's not one we carry on the truck. We'll give you an honest time estimate once we've diagnosed the problem.
Is it worth repairing my builder-grade furnace, or should I just replace it?
That depends on the age of the unit and what it needs. Builder-grade furnaces installed in Leander homes during the construction boom of the 2010s are now hitting the age where components start to fail. If the unit is under ten years old and the repair is under $400, repairing usually makes sense. If it's older, has had multiple repairs in recent years, or needs something major like a heat exchanger or blower motor assembly, replacement often costs less over the next few years than keeping the old unit running. We'll walk you through the math honestly.
What should I do if my furnace stops working at night or on a weekend?
First, check the basics: make sure the thermostat is set correctly, the filter isn't completely clogged, and the circuit breaker for the unit hasn't tripped. If none of those are the issue, and especially if you have young children or elderly family members in the home, you shouldn't wait until the next business day. We offer emergency heating repairs in Leander for exactly these situations. Avoid running space heaters in multiple rooms as a long-term workaround since that can create fire hazards if they're left unattended.
How often should I have my heating system serviced to avoid repairs?
Once a year is the standard recommendation, ideally in the fall before you start relying on heat regularly. During a maintenance visit, a technician will clean components, check refrigerant levels if it's a heat pump, test safety controls, and catch anything that looks like it's heading toward failure. Leander homeowners who bought new construction and assumed the system was fine without any service are often surprised when it develops issues after just a few years. Annual maintenance is much cheaper than emergency repairs and extends the overall life of your equipment.
